South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Christine- how great for you and the family. The cravings do seem to disappear don't they. Cream cheese doesn't have much sugar in it. I believe the sugar in it is natural, so it is a good choice to have.

Thotfulspot- have a great trip

AAAAHHHHHH! Some stressful things going on at the moment. Nothing that I can't handle, but prior to coming to the beach, I'd be stuffing my mouth full of something to deal with the stress. I don't want to do that, so here I am. I'm not hungry, so no reason to eat...sigh. I feel better already just coming here and venting a bit. THis is a good indication that I really need to find a more constructive way to handle stress when it comes along.

As far as Phase 1--well all is okay today. Both DS and I are sticking to it. We're off to football practice so I'll probably fix us a snack. I'll walk while DS practices and we''ll have dinner when we get home from practice.

Thanks for listening.

IMGONNABE40!, that's what we're here for. I think it's wonderful that even though you are stressed, you are not turning to food for comfort, but instead you are finding other ways to deal with it. I hope that what ever is going on, everything turns out o.k. for you and your family.

wtg dizneyfam. I know that the 5 pounds makes you feel terrific. I hope you lost your 10 by the labor day challenge. Don't give up:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Good afternoon SBD buddies!

I'm checking in with everyone. I did a firm work out this morning that was very very intense. Even the instructor kept saying how "tough" the segments were. I wanted to say "just be quiet, I already know it's tough, I'm doing it with you!". Anyway, today was the first time I did this 45 minute work out all together. It's divided up into three segments and I usually do the upper and lower body sculpt together and do the ab section separately. So I'm very happy at getting through this entire tough work out! Woohoo!!! I might fit into that suit comfortably next Sunday yet!

thotfulspot - have a wonderful trip! You have already established some awesome eating habits so I know you'll be able to be successful at Disney. I was able to stay OP last month and I know you can this time, just like you did before! Thanks too for the encouragement. I just love SBD and the support here is just fabulous!

IMGONNABE40! - you and your son are doing so well. Keep up the great work!! What a breakthrough you've made in seeing that emotional eating does nothing for us. I was a big emotional eater - when happy, sad, depressed, bored, you name it. Now I can look at food as fuel (yummy fuel) but I realize that it can't help me out of a bad situation or make anything better in my life. Good job, just stay focused and you'll get to your goal!

dizneyfam - Woohoo for you!!!! Losing 5 pounds is great. I'm sure you'll make your Labor Day Challenge goal!

Day five--still alive!

We woke up to a power outage at our house this morning so DS and I had our first meal out since starting SBD. It went well. We both had omelettes with a very small amount of cheese and turkey sausage patties. DS had water and I had coffee. I used 3 of those bitty containers of half and half in the coffee. I suppose I could have asked for lowfat milk...

Also, I could not seem to resist the urge to get on the scale this morning. I'm either 3 or 4 pounds down! I say 3 or 4 since 1) we had that power outage and the light was pretty dim, and 2)well, as my user name implies, I'm 40 years old and have "sight issues" from time to time:rolleyes: :o .

So we're feeling good here. DS continues to attend his study skills class and each day brings home the little candy bar that the teacher hands out. I am very proud of him for that. I have been sending bags of (15) peanuts (in their shells) and he has been snacking on those at snack time. He is also down a few pounds.

I think soon DH will leave Atkins and join us on the beach. I think its better here.

Thanks for all of your support. You folks are a blessing. Glad to hear you are all doing so well.

One more thing. Triscuits. I did not find these in the Good Carb/Good Fat guide. They contain no trans fat and the ingredient list is: whole wheat, soybean oil, salt, monoglycerides. That's it. Arew they okay once I get to phase 2?

I don't know about them being in the guide, but I also looked at the ingredients and thought they would be OK to have-in moderation. DH and I eat them occasionally, and have not found them to be detrimental to our weight loss efforts.

Hello all. I haven't been around too much lately. Probably because I've been feeling guilty. Yes, that's right... I went off plan for the last 3 days. THREE DAYS!! :earseek: DF had a teacher's convention in Raleigh, NC so I tagged along with him. His food was all paid for so he kind of had to eat what was given, but me *sigh* I had no excuse. I went off just to go off. Now, I'm sitting here feeling crappy and bloated. It's amazing how awful you feel after not eating those carbs for a while. Tomorrow's a new day though.

I really need to stick to some goals. Here we go:

1. No pop. Only tea, coffee, and water.
2. Exercise 3-4 times this week.
3. Stick to only SB foods. No Atkins foods allowed (they tend to throw me off a bit)

Oh, has anyone ever heard of Dance Dance Revolution? It's a playstation game that teaches you dance steps then puts it all together into a cardio workout. DF surprised me and bought it for me. It should be here soon. I am so eager to do something different for my workouts and this should be my way out.:cool1:

IMGONNABE40! - I eat a serving of Triscuits just about every week day. Four times per week I have tuna and crackers. They have not stalled me at all. I just make sure if I'm going to have grains that the ingredients say "whole wheat". I noticed the other brands of wheat crackers (like Wheat Thins) had enriched flour so I stay away from them.

Kimmykins - we're happy to have you back with us. This dieting thing can be such a slippery slope. Staying focused can be really hard but at least you've come up for air and are ready to get back on track. You can reach your goals, we know it!!! So don't stay away!!! I've never heard of that Dance video work out but maybe someone else has. Take care!

Kimmykins-welcome back. All you do now is pick yourself back up and you get back on plan. I know that you can do it. Let those days just be a memory and then you will be able to get back on.

SBD Phase 1 day 6. I am hanging tough--as is DS. We had company over for dinner last night. Several of my son's football caoches and some others doing electrical work on my house. Well--I thought with the beer flowing that I would have just one or two of DH's Aspen low-carb beers. Two sips later I decided that it did not taste good enough to detour Phase 1. Now I did make ribs for the group, but I used the recipe for Phase 1 approved barbeque sauce in the SBD cookbook. I know we are not supposed to eat ribs...so I also made chicken so DS and I had just a taste of the ribs along with a couple pieces of chicken breast. I know I feel good about myself this morning. Pants are fitting pretty well. Thanks for all of the encouragement everyone.

IMGONNABE40!- I love ribs. I will eat them too, only in moderation though. Good going and you'll be finished with phase 1 before you know it

Just bumping this thread back to page one. Day 7 of Phase 1. Today is going well. Yesterday I went a bit nuts--literally. Ate way more than the recommended daily allowance. Thought I'd stay off of the nuts at least until Monday. For a snack earlier today I cut a HB egg in half, popped out the yolk (I have never really cared for cooked yolks) and filled the holes with hummous then sprinkled with a bit of salt and hot paprika. Not bad.

Oh, DS and I both seem to be down about 5 lbs. (:bounce: )

IMGONNABE40!, glad to hear that you all are still doing so well. Thanks for check ing in an bumbing this up

Speaking of which, where is everybody??? It's been awfully quiet around here. Hope all is going well for everyone and that you all are hanging in there.

Good evening everyone!

It sure has been kind of quiet around here! I do hope everyone is doing well and able to stick with program during the busy summer season.

I'm still on the stay off the scale challenge with several other intrepid souls and it's going well but it's driving me nuts not to know exactly what I weigh. I do know that I'm fitting into a size 14 jeans and loving it even though I'm still a little over 200 pounds. I know it's the combination of SBD and my Firm work outs. Onderland here I come!!!!

Have a great Saturday night guys!

Wow, Zeraspride! That is so great. I can't belive you are staying off the scale for so long. I try not to overdo it on the scale, but am on a couple of times each week.

So here it is Day 9 and both DS and I are doing fine. We had company over for dinner last night and were able to stick to Phase 1 foods without a problem. DS even said he could handle it if I made nachos for our guests, but we did not end up doing that. I made a pot of chili with ground BOCA and a can of red beans. I mixed it with tomato paste and a bunch of spices and served it with grated 2% milk cheddar and raw onions. For the non chili eaters I made hot dogs and baked beans, but DS and I managed to stay away from them altogether.

Hi there everyone....have had a heck of a time trying to get on DIS today---did anyone else have any problems???

I have a 2 week update...and I just realized I can get a clippie!! I lost 6 lbs! I'm psyched!! Will stay on Phase 1 just a tad bit longer.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

mishoe01- great job on the 6 pound loss. Keep up the great work. I too haven't been able to get on the boards, but it looks like it's running now.:thewave:

Just checking in . As of Saturday, down 21 lbs. HOWEVER---- DH and I took a little road trip to Kansas City for a short get-away, and I have to confess that I did get off plan. Had a hamburger (with bun) and a few fries on the road. Went to Starbucks after dinner and had a vanilla latte and carrot cake. The next day, ate pizza for lunch.

The weird part was that I REALLY felt hungry all week-end, which I never do on SBD. Must be the sugar and bad carbs.

I'm happy to report, that I had no problem getting back OP today, and plan to jump right back on the beach to continue my weight loss journey.

Hope everyone has a good week.
