South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hi everybody. I haven't been online the last couple of days because I've been sick with a sore throat and a headache. I'm feeling a little better now, so I thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing.

lvs_eeyore- Welcome to the Beach. It's nice to have you join us and I hope you have lots of success. Headaches are very common in the beginning of Phase 1. Just hang in there and you will start to feel better.

Lisa- I'm gone for a couple of days and you get your 40 lb. clippie!:hyper: Congratulations, I'm so excited for you!! I know you must be thrilled.
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Julie - Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that you have been feeling under the weather. It's nice to see you posting on our thread again. I hope you were basically about to stay on plan even though you weren't feeling well.

Thanks for celebrating my 40 pound clippie with me. I'm so excited about it. I always appreciate the support and encouragement I get from this board.

Drink your water, ya'll. You DO NOT want to go through what I am going through now. Kidney stones SUCK

Vicodin helps though ;)

Jerry- Here's a big:hug: for you. I have heard that kidney stones are very painful, some say worse than childbirth. I hope you pass them quickly and without much pain. Be careful with the Vicodin. It's an addictive drug, but it just made me sick as a dog when I took it after I had gallbladder surgery. Hope you feel better soon.

Prayers going out to you. One of the things about me is that even before SBD, I loved water. That is my drink of preference.

Jerry - your remindes are always timely. Thank you. I do hope you will be feeling better soon. I have heard how painful kidney stones can be and if they are anything like childbirth or having a gall bladder attack (I've had both) then no thanks, I don't want them.

. . . Lisa, says as she downs her mug of water immediately . . .

In Phase Two I can begin to add back some high fiber grains. I was looking forward to having one of the 'Atkins friendly' subway wraps again. I looked at the calorie/fat info and WOW -- I surely would NOT consider them to be SouthBeach Friendly. I took the time to put together nutrition info for a couple of their other sandwiches -- substituting the high fiber wrap for the roll. Here are the stats if anyone would like to copy them down. I would consider all of these to be SouthBeach Friendly for a meal.

Here is a South Beach Daily Dish about Subway:

Will Subway Sink Your Diet?

(Published 1/29/04) Whenever you go out to eat, be sure to apply the principles of The South Beach Diet to your food choices. Subway is an acceptable choice for people on the go as long as you stick to salads or a protein source with vegetables. You can choose from the following:

Ham
Roast Beef
Sliced Turkey Breast
Roasted Chicken Breast
Tuna Salad
Subway Seafood & Crab Salad
Then, feel free to add one or all of the following ingredients:

Vinegar
Mustard
Mayonnaise
Olive Oil Blend
Lettuce
Tomato
Onions
Cucumbers
Jalapeno Peppers
Banana Peppers
Subway recently started selling a line of Atkins-friendly wraps. If you're wondering how these might fit into The South Beach Diet plan, here's a rundown. The actual "wrap" that surrounds the sandwich fillings is South Beach Diet-friendly. However, be sure to read the ingredient list for the fillings themselves before indulging. Check the amount of saturated fat to be sure you don't overdo it. Remember that The South Beach Diet is not a low-carb diet—The South Beach Diet focuses on selecting the right carbs and the right fats.

Well, here it is - day 6 - and the little rock is still with me. My doc says I won't pass this one - it will have to come out some other way. I am scheduled for lipotripsy (an external machine uses sonic waves to smash the stone), but the lithtriptor is not available in this area for another 3 weeks. I will probably have surgery this week to remove the stone unless I can get scheduled for lithotripsy out of the area. Wish me luck.

Jerry - I'm so sorry to hear that you will not be able to pass this stone and that surgery might be your only option. Please keep us informed and I hope all goes well. Please take care.

Jerry-So sorry. I hate any kind of surgery. I pray that everything goes well for you. Keep us updated on your condition.

Well, some good news finally. Yesterday and today were relatively pain free (or easily controlled with ibuprofen), but the good news is that my lithotropsy has been moved up to April 9th. If the time between now and then is like yesterday and today, I will make it without a problem. I do have a new vicodin script just in case though. I wish I could work out though - I miss it. My doctor didn't say no, but he didn't say yes either, and I miss my workouts (Geez, I never thought I would EVER find myself tying that particular phrase) :p

Feeling a little better,

Jerry - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I know you're happy your procedure has been moved up.

Isn't it a weird feeling to actually miss exercising? I'm with you in that no one could have ever told me I'd say that but I hate to take my one rest day per week away from my work outs.

I hope you have a speedy recovery! :)

Ok I have a question. Do you have to get fat free mozzarella or fat free parmesean cheese on Phase 1? I am stuck at a 7 pound loss on day 12! Maybe I am eating too much salt. I am pushing water the last 2 days so we will see!

I usually do light cheese. If it's mozzarella or parmesean cheese then yes, I do fat free. You do have to be careful of the salt. I get like that when I over do it. Drink plenty of water to flush it out of the system.

Hi everyone. It turns out that my sore throat was a little worse than I had thought. As the doctor put it I had, "a nasty looking throat, a bad ear, and my eyes didn't look good". But now after a week of antibiotics, eye drops, cough syrup and allergy medicine, I am feeling much better and am close to 100%.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay on plan for the week I was sick. But now I'm back and with a renewed commitment to get back with it and lose this weight. :hyper:
I hope everyone is doing well.

Jerry- So sorry that you may have to have the procedure done to get rid of you kidney stones. At least you will get it over with sooner than what you first thought. I hope you are doing okay and are not in too much pain. Here is a big hug for you.

Just checking in. We've been moving into our new home and it's crazy. SO far I have to report a 1 pound loss. Not a lot, but it's something. Have a great weekend everyone

Hi SBDers!

I'm checking before the weekend officially starts. I completed the April 1 challenge on this board losing 11.5 pounds during the five week period. I was going for 10 pounds so I'm happy to have made my goal plus a little extra. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down another pound. I won't count it until my official weigh in on Sunday but it makes me feel good nonetheless. Right now I am just 3.5 pounds away from losing 50 pounds. It's very exciting. I'm also just 6.5 pounds away from my next 10% goal so that's exciting too.

Julie - I'm so sorry you were so sick but glad to hear you're almost 100% better.

sm4987 - congratulations on the loss! That's how we all lose weight, 1 pound at a time. Keep up the great work! :)

I hope everyone is doing well! Have a great weekend on the
Beach!

This is a bump for our thread to keep it on the first page.

I'm also reporting in with this week's weight loss. I'm happy to report that I have lost 2.5 pounds for the week. I kept the one pound off from earlier in the week plus another pound and a half. So I have officially lost 48 pounds. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I hope everyone else on the Beach is doing well! Take care everyone.

I'll check in too. I am reporting a 2 pound weight loss. That brings me to 21 pounds total!!!!!!!:jumping1:
