Sounds Dangerous....why?

Does anyone know why this attraction is still around? Drew Carey hasn't been on ABC in years. The attraction is absolutely horrible (my opinion, I know, but it is easily the worst thing I have EVER done at Disney). They don't even have it open year round.

Surely there is something better they can do with the space.

There is only one thing worse than a bad attraction and that is an attraction that is closed and then nothing done with the space for years to come. i.e WoL & 20K Subs

With the exception of a few kiddie rides at Magic Kingdom, I think that Sounds Dangerous is the one attraction we've never visited during three trips to WDW since 2003. We've even been to "Food Rocks" prior to its closure.

Well you didn't miss out lol. It's the strangest, most boring attraction ever.:rotfl:

I agree, I had read it was seasonal, but I am releived to hear it is closed now. It was such a disappointing waste.

Don't celebrate until you look up the term "indefinitely."

Never done it. Worth riding just to experience the badness? Is it so bad it's good?

True and then there is Disney Speak. ;) Body Wars has been operating "seasonally" since I started going to WDW (04) until last year. Too bad no one can figure out what 'season' it is supposed to be open during.

People go in expecting a RIDE.

"Sounds Dangerous" is a show based on "Binaural Headphone Audio."

This show represents a fascinating use of audio technology that is very well-produced.

There is a similarly-designed headphone audio pre-show for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at Disneyland.

Over at the Conservation Station in DAK there is a conservation show about the rain forests produced in "Binaural Headphone Audio."

The audio portion of "Stitch's Great Escape" is this same technology.

If you find no enjoyment in just LISTENING to a program, I don't recommend the Sounds Dangerous show.
But if you are a fan of "audio books" or can appreciate "radio drama", its a great example of the use of SOUND to create an atmosphere and tell a story.

Sounds Dangerous takes up very little space, and costs next-to-nothing to operate.
I think this is a fine little amusing show.

It was dark and cool and a good place to doze...

ETA: I didn't dislike it like some people do but wasn't enthused about seeing it more than once. I liked the little sounds booths just outside the show better in fact. I found those sound effects fascinating.

Robo, I meant the Stitch ride. Never done that because I've never seen the movie and heard it's the worst thing in WDW. I was asking if that particular attraction is bad enough to be interesting.

Stitch's Great Escape uses the same kind of audio technology as Sounds Dangerous.

The Stitch attraction is mostly an audio attraction with some ample mechanical effects synced to the sound.

The over-the-shoulder harness worn by each audience member is mainly there to position the binaural speakers correctly near guests' ears.
The harness also enables some of the physical effects to impact the individual guests.

Stitch, himself, is a state-of-the-art AudioAnimatronic character with astoundingly realistic movements.

I suppose that everyone is expecting the room to "move" like a ride and when it doesn't, they conclude that all of the "setup" doesn't "pay off."

Being as objective as I can be, I'd say that the overall Stitch attraction is pretty well designed, but many guests expect one thing, and end up getting
an experience that is "less than expected."

I think most people are hung up on the chili dog smell in the Stitch ride. It is very pungent. If you like stitch and aren't too bothered by odors I don't think it is that bad. The real issue for me with that ride is that its previous incarnation as Alien Encounter was my favorite ride, but I completely understand why it was changed, getting "blood" splattered on you just wasn't a very Disney experience, but it was FUN and incredibly SCARY. I could see that ride fitting in DHS.
