Hi All,

Sorry to vent on my first post, but I am so frustrated!!! Sorry in advance for the long post too!

My wife and I will be making our second trip ever (also second this year) to Disney World next week. We leave next Thursday, are doing a couple of nights at Cocoa Beach and then are doing three nights in All Star Movies....

Now for my venting. This past weekend we were up near Syracuse, NY at an apple festival. We parked our car along the side of a road where lots of other cars were parked. We went to the festival and really enjoyed ourselves. Well, upon returning to the car, we found that someone had decided that my digital camera I forgot to put away should be theirs. They broke one of our windows and took my camera and radar detector. At first we thought that was all they took. Well upon closer inspection, they opened our trunk with the trunk popper and also took my wife's purse. What a bad ending to such a fun day.

So now we have to make sure my wife can get on the plane since all of her ID was stolen. Supposedly having a SS card and Birth certificate will be enough, but we are taking everything we can. Any suggestions here?

Thanks for listening and again sorry for venting and the long post!

Welcome to the Disboards:bounce:

Man, that is just awful about having the camera, etc. stolen. What a terrible feeling that must be. I don't really have any concrete advice about ID for the flight. But hope you have a great trip anyway.

Be sure to do a trip report when you get back!

So sorry for your bad times!:(

As far as flying, I think she'll still need a photo ID as well.

Sorry to hear about your experience. If you don't have time to get a replacement ID or state ID card, at least bring a copy of the police report with you along with the SS card and birth certificate. That's what my sister had to do when she left her purse in a rental car in Orlando.

Good Luck

I've heard if you don't have photo ID, they will just do a more thorough screening. Probably wanding, full bag search, etc.

I know here in PA you can go to any photo license center and get a new license immediately. They have your picture stored in the computer system.

Wow :( I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. I can't believe the things people do sometimes. I would definitelt try DMV. Does she have a passport?

I second having the police report with you. A couple of years ago our oldest son had his wallet lifted in New Orleans on NYE before a bowl game. He was meeting us at WDW a day or two later. So he had nothing but the cash his buddies loaned him. He was able to board both his flight to MCO and later our return flight to ORD with only the police report. This was months after 9/11.

He did have a very thorough search of his luggage on both legs.

So sorry to hear of your trouble.

More happily, welcome to the DIS!

You don't mention where you are, but I'm guessing since you're in Syracuse, you also live in New York.

Just go to the DMV. Take your SS card, your birth certificate, and a few pieces of mail with your name and address. (Credit card or utility bills work best)

They should be able to issue you a new license post haste. It should arrive by next week in the mail if you go tomorrow, Tuesday. Ask about rush shipping options. :)

When you go to the airport, take ANY sort of photo ID with you. (BJs or Sams membership card, employee ID....) and the birth certificate and SS card if the license doesn't arrive.

Good luck!! :)

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses. We went to the NY DMV this morning and have placed a rush order for a new license. It MAY arrive in time.

We have spoke with the airlines and the TSA and they all say to basically bring everything you have. Bring your SS Card, Birth Certificate, Marriage License, etc. We are basically going to bring everything we can.

Thanks again for all of your replies! Now to do some camera shopping!

That would make me so mad and feel so violated. I would call the airport and tell them the story and ask them what would be acceptable to board the plane with. Good luck and don't let those losers ruin your vacation!!

Since you are bringing all those important documents with you, may I suggest photocopying them and leaving a copy at home? Just in case your bad luck follows you. I hope it doesn't...may Pixie Dust rule!!
Have a safe trip!

Welcome to the DIS, penguins1! I'm very glad you found us and I hope you can visit often.

I'm so sorry that you had this experience. Will your insurance cover the loss of the camera, at least?

I'm going to move this to our Community board, for you.

Katholyn

I haven't heard back from the insurance company yet so the verdict is still out on that one. I hope so... not too sure what I will get from them though.

Welcome to the DIS and have a wonderful trip. :)

You should be fine. Like the others have said, just take everything you have, including the police report. Get there a little early and be prepared for extra screening.

I'm so sorry someone took your camera.
