Sorry - more questions for you really knowledgable people!

1. I'm sure I read somewhere that no-one can book Vero Beach more than 7 months out, not even those who own at VB....am I imagining things or is that right?

2. If you want to transfer points to another member, can you do that at any time during the use year or is there a 'latest by' date? I know you can't transfer banked points.

3. Lets say you own at BCV but want to stay at say OKW, you would book at BCV at the 11 month window to ensure you have somewhere to stay. Then at the 7 month window you can swap over (assuming availability)...is that right? What happens with the fact that OKW is 'cheaper' on points? Would the points just get credited back to your account?

TIA....just want to be clear about everything!

#1 - I am a Vero Beach owner and booked our July 2008 vacation there a couple of weeks ago. So, yes VB owners do have the 11 month advantage.

#3 - If you do book a new ressie at the 7 month window, it is of course subject to the points charged for the new resort, etc. Cancelling at the 7 month prior to the trip does not incur any penalties for you, so the points go back into the use year they came from.

If you borrow points to make the first reservation and you need fewer points to make the second, you need to make sure that MS uses the borrowed and banked points first. Any current year points could then be banked or used later in the year. You can't unborrow points. Once borrowed they stay in that current year.

The points go back into your account. You can use them for another reservation during that UY or bank them provided you are not past your banking deadline.

That's really helpful -thank you!

Just wanted to get the terminology correct. You are not "swapping" reservations. You are cancelling, in this example, a BCV reservation to free up the points and then are making an OKW reservation with those freed up points. It might sound like swapping reservations, but these are actually two separate transactions that happen very quickly.

OK - thank you. Still on a learning curve here....I just want to be completely sure I understand everything before we make the final decision. No snap financial decisions in our house!!

Keep asking questions and reading these boards, especially the Operations Board to understand the ins and outs of DVC ownership. Good luck! :)
