I was listening to the Podcast on my way in to work this morning. Something tells me that Gene is going to be hearing "Shame on you" quite a bit in the near future. I can see Dissers taking boat rides to Fort Wilderness just for this reason.

New tagline:
"Do not pick on Mom!"

We can only hope!

I REALLY hope management takes some form of corrective action here. This was absolutely deplorable. :sad2:

Any chance someone could summarize the highlights of the issue, for those of us who haven't yet seen the show?

It would be best to watch the video of the show to get the full frontal version.

I'll spare you the agony of that. Basically the fort wilderness boat "Captain" got on the loudspeaker to tell everybody that Pete's mom is slow and holding up departure.

When Pete started telling the story I thought he meant a guest had grabbed the microphone to yell at his mom - couldn't believe it was a cast member! :scared1:

We all know Disney watches / listens to the show so I'm sure the not-so-lovely Gene will be moved somewhere else for retraining.

Toss him into the Sassagoula!! With the Country Bears and Captain EO!:lmao: JERK!

I feel sorry for any other cast member who also has the name Gene.

Oh, good point. I hope there isn't more than one CM named Gene who work the Fort Wilderness boat...

Well, there IS another CM with the same name and the same assignment. The behavior of someone who is supposed to have the "stature" of Peter Werner, in tis case is irresponsible and not a little uncalled for. That he didn't like the way his mother was spoken to, indicates that he should have gone to Guest Services and made out a complaint. Taking it public is, quite frankly making him look worse than the CM he is claiming offended him.

CMs have a job to do. If a guest doesn't like the way the CM is doing the job, then follow the standard, effective recourse. Publicly calling for harassment of a person is no better than the alleged behavior of the CM.

It's not like Peter hasn't made public insults to people himself, and been wrong in the reason he made the insult!

It's all well and good to follow someone, but drinking the Kool Aid a little too often stains not only the teeth, but clearly interferes with the ability of some people to take all factors into consideration.

Carry on.

Echoing DVC's comments above.
And for what it's worth, the fort is my family's go-to resort and we have ridden the boats many, many times and we never once had a grumpy or unpleasant CM experience.
By way of contrast, I have had exactly one (1) electron-to-electron interaction with Mr. Werner. He overreacted to a simple misunderstanding and called one of my dear friends an incredibly crude and sexist name. This event took place less than a week ago.
I could never imagine participating in an orchestrated attempt to harass someone at their place of work in any case. BUT to do so, at the request of someone like Pete has shown himself to be to my circle of friends, is beyond mind-blowing.

This is exactly the point. Bad enough to grab a microphone and put out a jihad on someone because of one moment of insensitivity. But telling people to harass this guy at work, where he cannot retreat and he cannot fight back, cannot even tell his side of the story, is beyond awful. Shame on you, Pete!

Edited because I didn't see how this is. Old news. (And I really should pay more attention. ;) )
