Sorry Gaston, They are MUCH More Interesting Than You!*6/8* NEW Trip Report Link p154

I love all your pictures of the Wilderness Lodge! They make me want to make a greater effort to check it out one of these times. I love it's sister resort (of sorts!) Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I'm sure I would enjoy the Wilderness Lodge as well.

Speaking of love, I LOVE the Carousel of Progress! What an excellent final attraction choice for your evening! :goodvibes That attraction is not only a must-do for me, it's more like a "must do several times" attraction!

I have a got a real tight schedule over the next two months but I will take a look. I think of those two weekends I am working one and off the other but I need to double check which. :lmao:

Definitely double check. We would love to see you! :goodvibes

I need to spend more time there. ::yes::.

It's such a cute lounge, but no one is ever sitting there. Sort of a waste!

Cute dress .

Thanks!

Me too !!! .

:rotfl2:

Great picture .

Thanks!

Always love the dragon. .

The dragon is too cool!

You didn't look at the bulletin board... :rotfl2:

At the end of the night, I can see where those chairs would just cause you to ZZZZZZZ...

The bulletin board! D'oh! Did I know about the bulletin board before I visited in October. I can't remember. But I will definitely be looking for it in June.

While you know how I adore the Epcot resorts, I will agree with you, WL is much more fun for pictures!! :goodvibes

Epcot can't be beat for location, but it's hard to take actual pictures of the resorts. They are sort of "tucked in" to the landscaping. But WL always seems larger than life.

Yay for getting to see the parade!! That's such a fun one - I haven't seen it in so long!!

It's such a cute parade. And I really liked watching it from the front of the park instead of the back (which is my usual location).

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, but I'm caught up now. I'm sorry that you were disappointed in the MK shopping, I hate it when that happens. And your pictures really make me glad that DH and I got married when we did - no cranes or boards or construction.

Welcome back!

For as much as you pay for a Disney wedding it would be terrible to see it marred by construction. Even though it wouldn't show up in your pictures, its just the thought of it being there. So distracting.

Hmm...Now that you mention it, I think I missed it.

Sometimes I have a hard time sending out the "bat signal" for Cynthia's updates.

WL and AKL are the 2 places I had the hardest time leaving.

I have a hard time leaving all the resorts, but I agree that both of those have this all encompassing sense to them. You really feel like you get right to their core and its hard to break free. Wait. Did I just say that? :rotfl:

That's one of the things I love best about Disney. The sense that there's something else around the corner waiting to be explored.

The imagineers do such a great job of creating that sense. It really speaks to my inner child. Oh, there I go - getting all philosophical again. ;)

I agree. Part of it is the theme. This is more exotic and transporting. But then again, we grew up on the East Coast and see boardwalks and beach resorts all the time. I'm sure people from other areas feel differently.

True. We are definitely use to the whole beach theme. For people from the middle of the country the beach theme must be especially intriguing.

LOVE that one! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks!

I guess I should have paid more attention to how I was wearing my bag. :rotfl:

Wow! Nice work!

Thanks!

Me t--uh, I mean, whatever floats your boat.

:rotfl2:

It was pixie dust to keep running into Sheree. I think that might have been her last day there.

CoP? Yeah, that's definitely open for debate. :rotfl2:

I think if you ask Denny he might say that CoP rivals Space Mountain. He just loves that attraction. :confused3

Shocking, I know!

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised. :rolleyes1 :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Good one!

Well, I thank you in advance for really getting through to Photobucket! I didn't know I had a friend with so much pull! I look forward to using the re-enhancements. Soon!

Yes, toe pic was from Mexico. I have a little mini TR going on which is hooked onto the end of my Muggles report and I posted it there along with the background story.

oh I need to get over there and check it out! yeah..I have pull. :rotfl:

Actually I have to admit it is very nice to actually get responses when you whine and I've gotten a ton back from them and some very personalized so while I'm not happy with the changes I am with the customer service and response which does make me want to not rush into any change

And to be honest, the past day with PB has been better. At least the size changes I am making are sticking.

And now, when I upload and want to add more pictures from a new folder, it is letting me "Upload More" to that same album instead of the library.

So maybe there's hope!

Thanks again!

Great update, Mary Ellen! The Wilderness Lodge is a really gorgeous resort, and I think if we ever had the opportunity to stay Deluxe or rent DVC points, that is where I'd want to stay, especially at Christmastime! That resort is even more beautiful dressed up for the holidays. :goodvibes

Dinner looks yummy. I wonder if that group even noticed they were really under dressed? I guess some people think they can really go anywhere in park attire, but I would be so uncomfortable if I walked into a restaurant like Citrico's in shorts & a t-shirt!

Nighttime at MK! Love it! I have a new appreciation for the parade having seen it on our babymoon trip and most recently with Paxton in October. He really loved the lights and music! Great photos, and of course, everyone must love the dragon float, how could anyone not?! :confused3 ;)

Where was I? Off to the gym. I had hemmed and hawed about this while we were at the Poly pool but knew I really wanted to, that it would bug me if I didn't. I just didn't want Mary Ellen to feel like she had to leave early. After seeing her gorgeous WL photo’s, I don’t feel bad anymore, she clearly put the time to good use.

As did I. I left the gym feeling much better and semi redeemed from the utterly lame one the previous morning. Cleaned up and ready to go we headed out. It was a lovely boat ride but alas, all 3 photos I attempted are blurrier than heck. I am fairly sure all I took that night was a wristlet so the only medium I had to work with was the iPhone. After our somewhat lengthy wait for our table, our wine and observations of our lounge companions we were finally ushered in. At which point we did see a pretty cool looking bar inside the restaurant. Note to self, next time go there! I had never been to Citricos and had been looking forward to seeing it, it had “almost” made the list several times.
Fortunately the lack of large equipment didn't keep me from capturing my food!

To Start

Arancini - Crispy Risotto with Crimini Mushrooms, Asiago, and Charred Tomato Coulis $10.00

IMG_1141.jpg

Yep, fried cheese and rice balls. Our server had raved about these and much as I avoid fried things, this was darn tasty!

And

Pan-seared Florida Black Grouper - Pappardelle pasta, palacios chorizo, taggiasca olives, marinated sun dried tomatoes, white wine and aglio e olio $38.00

IMG_1143.jpg

Dinner was lovely. Was it my favorite, no. For a number of reasons. It’s a very large restaurant, larger than for whatever reason I expected. For me, if I’m doing a signature I do prefer something slightly more intimate. I also thought the service, while incredibly friendly at all times, was pretty inconsistent and slow. The food was good, but not amazing. I liked my entrée but didn’t love love love it and honestly that more than anything is what does it for me, the food. I’d go there again but it’s not a must do by any means.

Apparently I checked out the lobby while Mary Ellen changed her shoes. Pretty sure I was already in flip flops. Sparkly ones, but flip flops none the less.

IMG_1145.jpg

Couldn’t quite tell what was going on at the bandstand

There the band goes! I took this for Evan but then forgot to show it to him.

IMG_1148.jpg

Shoes changed we were off to MK! And amazingly walked RIGHT in to the MSP. Which floored me. We’d had such amazing parade and fireworks karma the night before at the party and now this. I was little kid excited. My family is not a parade kind of crew and I’d yet to see this in its entirety. Well, at least since 2001 Disneyland! Clearly I was overdue.

It was SO fun to run into Sheree and her family, such a great group, I loved seeing them again. Actually I think there was texting going on so we knew they were there, we had chatted earlier about it at our run in in NFL and so it was a semi planned connection and at that point realized we had been at the Poly "together" but hadn't seen each other (or at least hadn't until photographic evidence was analyzed that proved otherwise!).

We decided to get some photopass shots

And then went off to tomorrowland. Now while COP may have put Mary Ellen to sleep, I have a confession to make. I had never seen it! So again, was little kid excited.

I was pretty pooped myself by the time it was over, though didn't doze off and was so happy to have finally seen it. Pretty perfect ending to a pretty perfect day.

Thanks for thinking of me MEK,I'm not out of the woods yet and unfortunately I won't know more until I see a specialist in April .I went to the dr last week n got some news that I didn't want so I decided that before I let him medicate me i'm takling matters into my own hands. At the advice of a very good friend I signed up on a site to monitor my eating n exercise habits, and made major changes, because it made me accountable it's only been a week today since that appointment and I've lost 4 pounds and my body has started to function the way it should.I'm hoping I can do this and have more positive affects.

Losing 4 lbs is awesome! Congrats! I am glad you are already starting to feel better and I wish you much success in your lifestyle modification endeavors. I know myself how hard it is to get motivated. I have started my spring slim down a week ago and am also hoping I can stick with it.

Oh geez, when I looked at ur camera bag pic I thought you were wearing an apron.

Apron? Overalls? Yes I am the queen of fashion statements! :rotfl2:

I remember we were cracking up at the contrast between the ESPN shirts (and their loudness which I think made them seem more out of place than the T's) and the wine flights they were having. One of these things does not look like the others...

I forgot about the wine flights! :rotfl2: I could have sworn they would be drinking beer! ;)

Really though, is there another lounge at the GF besides the pool? Maybe there isn't, I honestly don't know and now that I think about it I guess there is one behind the band but if you didn't know it was there, this could seem like the only option. I think it was that the Citrico's loungs is very secluded and set back, not something you'd stumble by and as it serves for V&A as well it was, for me, one of the very few lounges in Disney that I'd have felt underdressed in a tee and shorts. All that said, it's a weird lounge if you ask me, an odd use of the space and it took forever to get our wine. Once we realized there was actually a bar inside Citrico's I know we wished we'd have gone there for our drink instead, much better ambiance

I think there is a lounge called Misner's. Is that where the band is? I seriously have no idea. Yeah - I wish we had gone to the bar inside the restaurant, too. But live and learn!

Ok that looks pretty funny with the top flap open like that, it does look part of the outfit until you realize.

It really is an attractive fashion statement, isn't it? :rotfl:

GREAT WL photo's. I really do like WL although I have to admit I felt more "connected" to it when we stayed in the main lodge part as I spent a lot of time on our verandah. I think it's the verandah junkie in me, I live for those moments on vacation and the view is a biggie. I didn't mind ours in the villas but having had the pool view in the main lodge it really was a big difference. I would request if not a water view, at least that side of the building I think if I stayed there again as I'd enjoy the view a little more. I loved the actual villa though and the grounds are amazing. Just amazing.

I do think the the villas were an afterthought and even with a "good view", it's not the same as staying in the lodge. Definitely not the same. I remember how amazing the view from the concierge lounge was. WOW - now that's a view. When we stayed in the 2BR we did not have much of a view either. But, aside from the view, I sort of like the villas because I think the lobby and the solitude is kind of cool.

I do know it :) because thanks to YOU I took the lodge tour too! Although I'd possibly have guessed it as well simply as there isn't a shortage of totem poles around here and I've been exposed to a fair bit of Native American history growing up as a result.

Considering where you live it's good to know that you don't feel the WL lodge theming is too "forced". I love the totem pool story. It's actually pretty cool and something only Disney would do.

You got railroaded, too?

It happened to me after getting back from Mexico.

The uploading is awkward because you have to keep going back and specifying the folder or it will load your pictures into the main library.

You have to scroll through all the pictures, they haven't separated them by page.

I kept switching myself back for the longest time. The thing that bothers me most is the way my pictures are organized in the album. I used to go in an reorganize them for oldest to newest. Now they are the opposite so I have to work backwards when writing a TR. I don't like that AT ALL!

Resizing is inconsistent. Sometimes I can get it to work, sometimes no. And I think you have to do each picture individually. I wish you could still upload everything in the size you want to use.

Uploading from Facebook albums gives you photos in a decent size, but the names of the files end up being a bunch of random numbers.

I will now call it Photo#$^it.

The pictures that I edit are a completely different size from the ones I don't. Now THAT is weird! Plus even replaced photos are put at the beginning (or is it the end) of the album. What the.......:confused3

I have had a really hard time catching up this week!

That's because you are post vacation. It takes me forever to catch up after vacation!

Mary Ellen- I haven't done the WL tour (or ever been to the WL, but I would love to see it- thanks for your pictures. Gorgeous!), but I'll bite on the totem poles- Bad luck to have them facing one another?

Ding...Ding....Ding....Ding....! But there's actually a little more to the story.

I am glad you got a prime spot for the ELP because your pictures are amazing!

I can't believe I attended two pictures and didn't have to edit out "head" shots. I am so spoiled now!

Cynthia- I loved your Tiki Room pix. The one of the sign was really striking- the colors and all.

I agree!

Cute t-shirts. I look forward to seeing more. I think my fave is the one at AK with Pooh looking through a magnifying glass at a tiger "Tigger, is that you?"

Cynthia always finds the best T's. She goes to a lot of trouble to pick out the best ones for her kids! Such a good mom!

Funny you mentioned adding rum to the Dole Whips. Did you see they are offering that exact thing at a booth at Food & Wine. Spoiler Alert- reports are they are NOT good!

They are NOT good? Is that possible? :faint:

Loved your Poly pool time. I did my first toe picture last week!!!

:thumbsup2 to the toe pose. I am going to work on mine for the next trip! I do NOT like my toes....AT all!

I am going to suggest flickr to both of you. The pro account is pretty cheap. I went with the 3 month one for about $7, but I think a yearly is like $25. It's not as easy as the the old photobucket, but still prety user friendly ...at least I was able to figure it out for the most part. :rotfl2:

I've used the app for Flickr and was pretty happy with the cell phone pics I stored there. Just the thought of switching over is daunting to me. I renew in May, so I think I'll stick with it for now.

I looked at my photobucket usage the other day and was shocked I was only at 16%. I think that had to be an error as i post on 5 boards and I post a lot. And I know they get looked at, even if people don't respond.
Mine expires towards the end of April and at this point I have no desire to renew. It's sad that it came down to this, but I am not working with a site that fights me with every picture I try to link.

It is really sad that photobucket alienated so many loyal costumers. I don't think they realized that a significant portion of their costumers use the site for blogging. And photohosting site should cater to bloggers.

I am at 74% capacity. I went in to start deleting nonsense pix and it took forever. It's like a several day project. But I am NOT adding more storage.

Totem poles don't face each other because it'd be bad juju? :confused3

And we have another winner!!!!!!!!!!!!! But there's a little more to the story!

I cracked up at this. It looks like an apron or something. I imagine you looked at the picture and did a headsmack.

Well, the first thing I always do when I look at a picture is ask myself "Do I look fat?" Then I did the head smack! :rotfl2:

Well, I thank you in advance for really getting through to Photobucket! I didn't know I had a friend with so much pull! I look forward to using the re-enhancements. Soon!

Rock on Cynthia! :cool1: I haven't even figured out HOW to contact them. :faint:

Yes, toe pic was from Mexico. I have a little mini TR going on which is hooked onto the end of my Muggles report and I posted it there along with the background story.

I DID see you toe picture! You were definitely rocking the sand between the toe look!

Okay so what is the Totem pole answer !!!????????

Some of our rather astute DIS friends already figured it out. Smarty pants, they are!

I love all your pictures of the Wilderness Lodge! They make me want to make a greater effort to check it out one of these times. I love it's sister resort (of sorts!) Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I'm sure I would enjoy the Wilderness Lodge as well.

Both very different, but similar in that they each incorporate very signature items that make them fantastic. AK with its amazing savannah and authentic artwork. And let's not forget the architecture and cool music. WL with its breathtaking appearance, its geyser, huge fireplace, beautiful views.

Speaking of love, I LOVE the Carousel of Progress! What an excellent final attraction choice for your evening! :goodvibes That attraction is not only a must-do for me, it's more like a "must do several times" attraction!

You sound like my DH. He could seriously go on it 4 times I trip. I must stop at two, but I really do love it. It takes me back to my childhood and beyond!

:goodvibes

I am dying to stay there at Christmas time too! In fact, I almost pushed our upcoming October trip back a week so we could be there in the beginning of November for the decorations. But Denny was insistent that we keep the cruise over his b-day. So we leave to go home on November 4th. I don't think anything will be up yet.

Dinner looks yummy. I wonder if that group even noticed they were really under dressed? I guess some people think they can really go anywhere in park attire, but I would be so uncomfortable if I walked into a restaurant like Citrico's in shorts & a t-shirt!

I have no clue what they were thinking. It just shocked me because I still feel a little uncomfortable when I go to signature restaurants - like I don't want to do anything stupid or stick out in anyway. So, it was weird.

Nighttime at MK! Love it! I have a new appreciation for the parade having seen it on our babymoon trip and most recently with Paxton in October. He really loved the lights and music! Great photos, and of course, everyone must love the dragon float, how could anyone not?! :confused3 ;)

That is so cool that Paxton is already a fan of the parade. Neat! I don't know how anyone can not like that parade and particularly the dragon float. I can't wait to take my nephews this summer and they better not even try to leave again. :rotfl:

The food was good, but not amazing. I liked my entrée but didn’t love love love it and honestly that more than anything is what does it for me, the food. I’d go there again but it’s not a must do by any means.

That pretty much sums up how I felt about the food. It really didn't blow me away and I found our server to be distracting just from the standpoint that it was obvious he needed help. But much to his credit, he could not have been nicer. And, honestly, it can not be an easy job to have. I don't think I could do it.

Love the blurry wheels on this one. Very cool!

at that point realized we had been at the Poly "together" but hadn't seen each other (or at least hadn't until photographic evidence was analyzed that proved otherwise!).

:rotfl2: Funny!

We decided to get some photopass shots

I'm so glad you posted these because I totally forgot about them. I do remember thinking my dress looked "big" and could stand an alteration, which is weird because when I tried it on I thought it fit perfectly.

Oh - I didn't realize you were a CoP virgin! :lmao:

Great updates Ladies! I know I always go on and on about your pictures but once again they are stunning...as are you too! Love the pics of you both in front of the castle!!!

Great updates Ladies! I know I always go on and on about your pictures but once again they are stunning...as are you too! Love the pics of you both in front of the castle!!!

Haha - I was just posting on your TR!

I'm so glad we got those PP pics and I totally forgot about them. It appears that we both gave up on editing borders at that point. :rolleyes1

Cynthia, that's so neat that you had your first CoP experience this trip!! I refuse to go a trip without seeing it! I guess its the history behind it all that draws me to it...although the people in my party aren't always as excited as I am. The funny thing about CoP is that I always question whether it is the same as the last time I saw it. I will look at a scene and think, "Hmmm...was it like this last time? Was that there before? Did he say that last time?" :confused3

As far as napping on CoP is concerned, I am always too busy singing to sleep. Again...those in my party have a different agenda when it comes to CoP. :rotfl2::rotfl:

MEK, I think your dress is beautiful! I am never brave enough to wear dresses to WDW, so I think its fabulous! I am a capris and tank tops kind of gal I guess!

Great parade photos, Cynthia.

And I must say you ladies look lovely in your photopass pics.

Enjoyed the double updates!

WL is so beautiful! I would love to stay there again, but with a family of five, it's not a reasonable thought for us.

Dinner sounds delicious-glad you enjoyed it.

Way to go with the luck following you at the MK, and YAY for Cynthia getting to see CoP finally! :)

All caught up again! :goodvibes

Wilderness Lodge really is beautiful! Two teachers (married) from our elementary school (one is Zach's current teacher) are going to be staying there during April vacation. They'll be there at the same time as us. We're planning to run into them at MK. I'm sure they will love the resort!

Looks like you had a relaxing afternoon, lovely dinner & fun night at MK! :thumbsup2

Your pictures of WL are heavenly!! I would love to stay there someday. Not sure it will ever happen but it's nice to dream!

Thanks for all those WL pics! :thumbsup2 We are only 13 days away from our check in!:cool1: MEK- about how long is the tour? Is it more than an hour? Right now they say it is done M-Sat at 9 am, and I think that's doable on Saturday as long as it's not too long- we have to pick up our car rental and get to the Yankee game- early, hoping to see some Yankees before the game. :thumbsup2

Cynthia- what a great memory of Tracy and her niece from the Poly- it will always be a shock that she has left us too early. :worried:

And at Citrico's- have to say I agree- Pods and I ate there once- it was nice, but nothing we went gaga over. We ate nothing that demanded a second visit, and I find that so odd- it had so much potential!

I have no clue what they were thinking. It just shocked me because I still feel a little uncomfortable when I go to signature restaurants - like I don't want to do anything stupid or stick out in anyway. So, it was weird.

Well I have to admit I wouldn't normally wear flip flops and a sundress to a signature dinner at home so I know what you mean. I felt I was pushing it with my sparkly flip flops but didn't want to carry a bag :rotfl:

That pretty much sums up how I felt about the food. It really didn't blow me away and I found our server to be distracting just from the standpoint that it was obvious he needed help. But much to his credit, he could not have been nicer. And, honestly, it can not be an easy job to have. I don't think I could do it.

Everyone was s o nice there, but busy and distracted. Our cocktail CM had the same issue. It just felt a little too big to me, which was sad.

Love the blurry wheels on this one. Very cool!

Well that part wasn't intentional! I didn't post all that many shots as most were too blurry...period.

I'm so glad you posted these because I totally forgot about them. I do remember thinking my dress looked "big" and could stand an alteration, which is weird because when I tried it on I thought it fit perfectly.

Oh - I didn't realize you were a CoP virgin! :lmao:

I'm glad you forgot as I wouldn't have had much to post otherwise :rotfl2:

I really liked your dress. I know what you mean though, I've had that happen a couple of times where I think something looks great and then I see pictures and have a very different reaction. I thought your dress looked great at the time! I've become very anti alteration unless it's a hem, it always seems to wreck the garment.

Great updates Ladies! I know I always go on and on about your pictures but once again they are stunning...as are you too! Love the pics of you both in front of the castle!!!

Thansk! I'm so happy those turned out, I don't know how many nightime photopass I've done where they really weren't very good.

Haha - I was just posting on your TR!

I'm so glad we got those PP pics and I totally forgot about them. It appears that we both gave up on editing borders at that point. :rolleyes1

Generally I'm not a huge border fan but maybe none looked right with it? Dunno.

I am going to make them all go next time, I actually think they'd like it, at least once. I could see that though, thinking it different each time.

MEK, I think your dress is beautiful! I am never brave enough to wear dresses to WDW, so I think its fabulous! I am a capris and tank tops kind of gal I guess!

Her dress was lovely!!! Dresses are so great for travel, when the weather cooperates with it I vastly prefer them as they can be SO much more comfy!

Great parade photos, Cynthia.

And I must say you ladies look lovely in your photopass pics.

Thanks! I really like that picture of both of us.

Enjoyed the double updates!

We lucked out staying there as a family of 6. It was before we had DVC but I had a 40% off PIN code so was able to get 2 connecting rooms and spend less than I did for 1 room at the YC with the same PIN. It was still a crazy amount of $$ which is why we bought into DVC.

Great update, Cynthia!

I must say I am impressed with you and Mary Ellen that you both get in your exercise while on vacation! WTG!!!:thumbsup2

It is so lovely and for me, the outside areas are by far the best part. I just love the walkway and the boat dock, makes me smile every time. I think if you have little kids too, it would be a great choice as you are so close to MK.

Your pictures of WL are heavenly!! I would love to stay there someday. Not sure it will ever happen but it's nice to dream!

If you can ever get a good PIN code, it's not so bad.

Thanks for all those WL pics! :thumbsup2 We are only 13 days away from our check in!:cool1: MEK- about how long is the tour? Is it more than an hour? 13 days! SO very jealous. I need to comment on your final updates on Gidget, I keep reading them on my phone which is impossible to post from. Ok not impossible but a pita. lol.

No comment on the Yankees. :rotfl2:

Cynthia- what a great memory of Tracy and her niece from the Poly- it will always be a shock that she has left us too early. :worried:

I have to admit, I love seeing her niece post on FB, it's like a part of Tracey still alive, out there and full of joy. Makes me smile every time.

And at Citrico's- have to say I agree- Pods and I ate there once- it was nice, but nothing we went gaga over. We ate nothing that demanded a second visit, and I find that so odd- it had so much potential!

That's exactly it! So much potential.....

I am glad I got to check it out on a girls trip as we will likely only have one date night on our next family trip and it could have been in the running.

Great update, Cynthia!

I must say I am impressed with you and Mary Ellen that you both get in your exercise while on vacation! WTG!!!:thumbsup2

Well, Mary Ellen did MUCH better than I did on that front. I think she got in 4 runs, maybe 5??? out of 7 that's darn good. I hit the gym only twice, both at WL. In hindsight it might have been a decent afternoon backup plan while we waited for our room at BWV but oh well. 2 is better than nothing.
