This is no longer a vacation. It is a quest. A quest for fun. We're going to have so much (bleep!) fun we're going to need a (bleep!) plastic surgeon to remove the (bleep!) smiles from our faces. We'll be whistling Zippity-Doo-Dah out our (bleep!)....
When I was in high school I read the story in National Lampoon that the movie was based on. In some ways it was even funnier than the film. Not surpisingly, in the story the Griswolds were headed to Disneyland. I still remember the first line of the story (paraphrased) "It was the best family vacation we ever had... right up to the point where my Dad shot Walt Disney!"
