Sorry, but no need to sell "Cosmo" magazine for all to see at resort gift shop...

I guess it doesn't bother me since you walk into a grocery or convenience store and see the same thing.
Just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right -JMO
We stopped going to our local gas station/mini store, because the magazine rack by the counter has xxx rated magazines right there, not behind the counter but in front :sad2:

I also disagree with some of the tone used by some in responding to the OP. I got the same when I commented on the insulting slogans on the T-shirts Disney is hawking at the Tower of Terror gift shop - "Will you hold my beer while I do your girlfriend" isn't exactly what I want my teen to wear.

You have got to be kidding me? They actually have a t-shirt that says that :sad2: ? How degrading can you get?

I think that was an exaggeration.

Come on-Disney having Cosmo is a lot different than an XXX rated magazine. If Disney had to base their sales on every little thing that might bother people they would have nothing in the stores.

OK Does anyone remember that Disney commercial a few years ago where the little girl is in the elevator and she's talking to someone and the mom has a baby in the carriage, etc...
And then by the end of the commercial the lady asks when they got back from Disney Cruise and the mom says about a year ago and then the little girl goes something like "mom calls him a little souvinier"
And that's a direct Disney commercial, same ending result, does everyone have to explain that to their kids too? Probably not... It's just a magazine... just like that's just a commercial.
I personaly don't care either way, cause I don't go to Disney to read magazines.
Just my opinion :goodvibes

Actually, the whole sundries section of the resort gift shops rather takes me out of my Disney bubble :teeth: Besides the newspapers with their real world headlines, there are medications, feminine products, and assorted other reminders. Maybe that's why they are usually in a back corner. (Not meant to offend anyone; just something that occurred to me) pixiedust:

I was just musing on this myself today. Part of it is just that we go to Disney because it feels encapsulated from the "real world". I know that is why I go--the complete escape from the outside life that brings me stress and frustration (of course also joy and other emotions, but I bring those WITH me, while I leave the rest behind ;).

The ToT shirt ("Hold my beer...") I CANNOT believe! WHAT does it have to do with ANYTHING?! And as for the other shirts listed on the other thread, I agree with the poster that said they expect more from the Disney merchants than the cheesy options we could get at any souvenir shop or Hot Topic back home.

So I think both these topics tie into a vital part of why many of us love Disney and going to the Lands: the escape from all the craziness of the Real World, and feeling completely immersed in the Magic.

I don't find many of these things listed very Magical, but at least the original question, regarding the glamour mags, fill a niche: the woman who loves to relax by the pool with a little brainless glamour-mag amusement. I know it is one of my guilty pleasures for plane travel. I don't subscribe to a single magazine nor buy any with any regularity, but I always buy one cheesy mag for the plane when I travel. It amuses me. :)

Isn't a sweaty Ariel necking with a turtle the sort of thing the OP is referring to?? :teeth:
Thanks, I nearly spit my coffee on the monitor! :lmao: :lmao:

I want that t-shirt, I will look out for it in November.
I don't think you'll find it in the gift shop, maybe on someone who is visiting the gift shop, but not for sale in the gift shop.

Just leave the kids in the arcade, buy the mag, sneak up to the room and try out those 30 new sex positions with your mate. You know you want to.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

To be honest, I must be so in the Disney spirit as to be blinded. I never even saw any of that stuff last trip.

MAybe with the sexy titles Disney is trying to subliminally convince guests to get busy and create future annual passholders. ;)

This cracked me up!!! :rotfl: I just have to tell you that dh thinks cosmo is out of their mind with some of the stuff they suggest!!! I always read him that stuff and we crack up! Some of the silly things they come up with are just plain ridiculous! :rotfl2:

I agree a tiny bit with the OP, but not about Cosmo. What's the big deal? :confused3

What I don't want to see in the gift shop are newspapers and Newsweek and Time magazine with headlines about war and terrorists and all that garbage. :sad2: That's the yucky stuff that I like to ignore while I'm at WDW.
