Okay, we have had our moments about the summer, and possibly affording it afterall, and then I remembered about how hot it was the summer we went before DD came along - and I don't much fancy that. So we are now thinking October half term. There is a deal on atm, but hoping something better comes up, and flights haven't been released yet so again, hoping they are cheap.

What is the weather like in October? Is it open later in Oct half term? Have people ever managed to get very good deals?

What things will be on or not? I take it Fantillusion and fireworks are only the summer? Which is a shame, but I guess we can see them another year when DD is older and we've saved up for a proper summer holiday!

Do you think Halloween decs might be better with it being the 20th celebrations? Is there anything extra on Halloween night?

Thanks!

What is MNSSHP? Will that be on this Halloween night and how do you get tickets?

Don't apologize for your curiosity, I think people here are more than happy to answer any queries you have (if we can!) : )

Fantillusion and fireworks are generally summer and special occasions only due to DLP being near a village, who don't like having the noise every night. that's why they are bringing Disney Dreams in this year, as it solves the ages old nighttime entertainment issue outside summer : ) Talking about October opening hours is tough, as DLP have said they will have extended hours this year. Until we know what time parks are open till during the 20th it's hard to say. But I'm certain they will stay open till it's dark enough to run Disney Dreams at least!

MNSSHP = Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party : ) - it's an after-hours event held after the parks usual closing. It costs extra (you'ld have to get tickets at the ticketing booths, don't think you can order them online or in advance...)
Generally what happens at MNSSHP are; special parades and shows held specially for the event, Disney characters in costume and giving out candy to kids, and a selection of rides open as well. it's great but it does cost a bit extra.

Personally: if you want to go to a Disney park for a holiday season and get the maximum you can get out of it without the need to pay extra. I would consider Christmas instead. Disney always pull out the stops to dress the parks up for the Christmas period and do special things, and most of them are within normal park hours.

MNSSHP - Don't mind it costing extra if it is fab! LOL! Halloween is on a par with Christmas in our house, so I think we would love this time of year. It is slightly more affordable, plus we have longer to save. We would do the Monday night offsite (any suggestions) and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night onsite with 4 full days in the parks. Hope we can save up enough to do Auberge and Inventions again too! Would love a flash sale to hit and us get 50% off!

Will there be fantillusion/fireworks on Halloween night?

I would love to do Christmas, but as a teacher it would have to be a weekend, and don't want to risk another cold weekend for DD! This last weekend was just too cold, so want a trip that is slightly warmer for her to enjoy it!

Haha, well if it's up your alley and it's fine with you then thats all good! : )

Looking up details on Halloween, the Halloween Night party is also an after hours ticketed event. But usually there's a special parade and some kind of fireworks for an after hours event (if possible!)

Will say, don't hold your breath for 50% again, October tends to have healthy attendance that doesn't require cutting prices quite so drastically. Disney usually only cut prices that much on dates January to April (because not everything is up and running), and everything else is subject to whatever DLP offers for the year.

Usually the annual deal is introduced alongside the new yearly celebrations official start date, keep an eye out late March/Early April

There won't be (normally) any MNSSHP this year.

They were held on 4 fridays in October and then there was/is the main event on the 31st along with (maybe, hopefully) the Terror night(s) in the Studios

The evening of the 31st kicked off around 20h until 1.00 am and cost 35€ pp

This will give you an idea of the 3 different types of evenings they do

Thanks for all that! We could get booked for around £750 atm through independent travel agents, it is £900ish on the official site, so hoping we can maybe get it down to around £600!

As an aside - if we spent £300 on annual passes. How much do Disney charge room only?

Why won't there be any MNSSHP this year?

There are a few people on here that have done MNSSHP - if you have a quick look at the trip reports for October you might be able to find some info/photos.

I wasn't there for actual halloween but loved the halloween theming which we saw transform the park :goodvibes. Having said that, it was a few years ago and some last year said the decs etc weren't as good as previous years as Disney appeared to be cutting back on them (but that is people who have been several years at the same time, I'm sure to anyone who hasn't been before it would be fab). AND, I would guess that with the 20th stuff, hopefully it will be totally back on form :thumbsup2.

Hope you manage to get sorted - are flights not out yet for October? We've booked for November already :confused3

Not for easyjet - only up til the 27th! If push comes to shove we would consider driving!

I am hoping it will be fab, and hoping we can save up enough! I love Halloween!

Is there nothing available with the other 2 airlines?

I'm sure it would be great - might be worth checking which other countries are off at the same time on the sticky above. But, I'm fairly sure half term is a little later this year so hopefully it won't clash :).

I would go for Halloween again but obviously not this year as we've decided on Christmas :goodvibes.

One watch out though - the 'do' on 31st is on late (as per Carrie's post) and I *think* it's more full on. I do recall someone on here saying they didn't think it was suitable for young children - lots of very gory costumes, large groups of youngish french youths etc :confused3. I think MNSSHP is a different thing but I'm not entirely sure - I'm sure someone on here will know, or you'll be able to find out in the TRs.

They no longer figure in the brochure and various comments on French forums say that they have been stopped :confused3

Oh that would be a shame!

Hope there will be something on Halloween for the kids!

We were there are the start of October last year and loved it, yes I think they had scaled back on Halloween stuff but we had a ball

The trip report showed mnsshp, shame there is none this year.

We are going for half term but it's earlier in Scotland, mid October, monday to Friday to DLH again but not castle club this time.

no - all the information around Halloween this year there is no mention at all of MNSSHP, in previous years this has always been advertised with the brochure blurb about Halloween.

Check for European holidays for your half term week - the week which includes 31st October is usually very busy at DLP, as a lot of European countries have school holidays at that time of year.

Christmas season at DLP begins 8th November this year, if you go on a weekend in November you're very unlikely to have anything like the cold temperatures you've just had in February. I'm another firm fan of Christmas season at DLP (but in November :)).

I used to love love love Halloween season at DLP, but they've scaled it back so much now that it seems like its hardly celebrated at all.

it's French school holidays - all 3 zones - from the 27th of October to the 8th of November

plus the 1st is a public holiday so it's a potential 4 day weekend.

The 11th is also a public holiday :)

Oh god - so bloody manic then? Maybe a weekend at Christmas might be a better plan!
