What is Sorcery in the Sky? It is on 4th July at @ MGM.

Is it just fireworks?

Yes, you're right about it being on 4 July at MGM. I think it's basically fireworks, although there may be a little more to it. I've never seen it so I'm not entirely sure.

Hi Cath,

My understanding is the SITS was a nightly (or at least regular) fireworks show at the studios until the arrival of Fantasmic.

Nowadays however they dust it off for special occasions like July 4th or private parties - pretty rarely though. We saw it a couple of years ago whilst on honeymoon and really enjoyed it - the accompanying music is segments of classic of disney tunes.

One word of advice though - don't get too close to the big Mickey hat in front of the chinese theatre, as it blocks out some of the lower fireworks.

I LOVED Sorcery In The Sky!! It used to be the nightly fireworks show at MGM before Fantasmic came along, and the fireworks appeared above the Chinese Theatre and to the right as you looked at it a huge Sorcerer Mickey used to gradually appear at the end............ but Paul is right. How it will be with that GREAT big hat in the way, I can't imagine!

There used to be a rope across the Hollywood Boulevard and everyone sat behind it all the way down the street and got an excellent view.

The introduction was done by Vincent Price. It was so beautifully choreographed to the music.

(I'm getting all sentimental now - I have the whole thing on video and I'll need to watch it now I've started thinking about it!!)

For me it was always more of a highlight than the display at MK. Think it seemed more colourful and dramatic with the music and Vincent price.

It was at least part based on the Sorcerors Apprentice I think.

As WDWFAN says people used to all sit down patiently behind the rope in front of the Chinese theatre to watch - cant imagine that happening these days !!

In the past on 4th of July they have the fireworks at each park going off together and it is quite a display if you are outside the parks up high and can see the whole WDW skyline lit up.
