Sorcerer Pass

If you didn’t know this was an option? The renewal page in the app says NO longer a sold.
Doesn’t mention it is available by phone or even give a phone
You made two arguments: one, that calling creates too much friction for those who know it’s available, but only via phone, and can’t be bothered with the extra steps or time required to renew and therefore just buy new IncrediPasses, and two, that there is what you feel to be “deceitful” language in the app. I very specifically addressed the first point and not the latter.

I didn’t address your second point for several reasons, one of which is that you can’t purchase ANY passes via the app. All passes need to be purchased via the website. Plus, I don’t have any passes up for renewal so I can’t independently verify that message, and I don’t ever remember seeing any notice that “The Disney Vacation Club Member Disney Sorcerer Pass Renewal is no longer sold”, only that that the pass was greyed out when you tried to select it for renewal (online).

I'm a little confused by the Membership Magic Beyond as it relates to the Sorcerer Pass. Is MMB required only to use points to buy the pass (I think so) or is MMB required even to pay cash? Also can I still trade in a date-based ticket on the last day for a Sorcerer Pass?

You don't need MMB to buy or renew the Sorcerer Pass if using cash. It only opens up the ability to use points in lieu of cash.

Direct or grandfathered benefits are required to pay cash for a Sorcerer's Pass
MMB is required on top of that to pay points for the Sorcerer's Pass
You can still upgrade tickets before they are fully used, but you cannot upgrade them with points, only with cash

If the date-based ticket was used on a block-out date for the Sorcerer Pass, it cannot be upgraded to that AP.

Woah! When did this rule come into play? Certainly at DL I’ve used a date-based ticket during blockout days and then upgraded on the last day of my visit. (Thankfully this isn’t an issue for my upcoming trip.)

IMO it’s a fair change, otherwise you get to have your cake and eat it too.

Same applies if you get one of the 14 days hopper tix that also includes waterparks. If you go to a waterpark and later on decides to upgrade then your AP needs to include waterparks too. However lately many have been denied upgrading those tix so might not be that big of a problem.

I know I truncated your post, but this part just doesn't hold water for me. 2 minutes on a phone call with Member Services to renew the Sorcerer Pass versus buying an IncrediPass online is some pretty low friction relative to the cost savings. Renewing a Sorcerer Pass comes out to $904 with tax. Buying an IncrediPass online runs you $1,543, out the door. For us, that's a difference of $2,556 for 4 passes. Yeah, I'll suffer the "friction" of a 2-minute call to avoid paying an extra two and a half grand.
Is the $904 still the current cost with taxes? We renew on Wednesday and I want to be prepared.

My sorcerers passes are added to MDE, can we just go to a park with a park reservation or do we need to do something else?

If they are renewals, you should be able to go right in.

There have been mixed experiences with new passes.....some have ben able to go right in, some have had to go to Guest Relations.....if it were me, I'd probably make a stop at GR just in case vs. trying, getting the blue and then being directed back to GR...which happened to me once.

It went up again. Current price is

As far as I can tell, this depends on how you bought it. If you bought it online or through "regular" Disney ticketing, you have to confirm DVC-Y before activation. If you bought it from Member Services, you can walk right in.

YMMV.

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason. When we initially bought our Sorcerer Passes in 2022, we purchased them online. My son and I took a quick jump over to Epcot while my wife stayed at the resort for some pool time. We walked right in through IG without blinking an eye. When she came over to join us maybe 3 hours later, she got flagged and had to go to Guest Services to have her ID verified. All three passes were purchased concurrently, we just walked up to the gate at different times on the same day.

That makes sense. However, even though I bought my Sorcerer's Pass through MS, she reminded me that I'd have to go to GS to activate it (and I think she mentioned confirmation), so I did. That's where I was told that I was all set, and didn't need to be there. Went to the front gate and got the blue light anyways. Don't forget-annual pass holders have to make park reservations. I forgot! So they made me a park reservation while I stood at the gate, and no more than 3 seconds after making the park reservation, IN!

Bought new Sorcerer Passes for wife and I yesterday with points through the MMB program. Bought OTUP as well and used those as part of the deal. Once it was all done (great service from Isabella, even if it did take about 35 minutes), she verified with me that the passes were linked to our accounts (which I could see in MDE) and they would activate when we entered the first park. She mentioned, like 4 times, that we could go right to the gate and did not need to stop by GS.
