Sopranos Tonight!

I agree with everyone; big fan here who really enjoyed last night's show. Two shootings, a heart attack, a double beating, and a maiming. What more could one ask for? Edit: Oh yeah and a suicide...

I though Christopher's comment about Phil's eyebrows was so so funny, and Carmella traipsing around trying to show off her car.

And as for Gene, he has been around a while as mentioned. Last night he was portrayed very sympathetically, but I remember a scene out at a construction site where he beat a guy to a pulp for some minor comment....wasn't that him?

Anyway, good show. And I expect Tony to live, and we'll see his dreams for a while as the others go into mayhem. The question is who will end up on top and then have to answer to Tony when he recovers?

E.

I took a look at the HBO website just out of curiosity to see what the buzz was on their boards...didn't spend too much time and BTW, it is NOT a family website like the DIS ...but there was discussion that maybe that was the series finale we saw last night and Tony dies. The rest of the episodes will go backwards and fill in over the 2 years or so that we've missed (kind of like Pulp Fiction, I think). I don't think so at all, I felt like it wasn't final enough and based on the previews it doesn't seem right. But I thought it was interesting to throw it out there for everyone to ponder...If it's true it would be MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, saw mentioned that Melfi might be an informant...

I think I am still having heart palpatations from watching this show! I did NOT sleep well last night.

I really hope that they don't have Tony die or put him in a coma for very long. I suppose it is possible though. It looked like Uncle Jun shot him in the upper right abdomen, so that would be where his liver is...

Can't wait for next week!

I agree it was a fantastic epsiode...

Opening montage was a bit confusing at first, but I loved the scene of AJ sitting in class, taking a picture of himself instead of listening. And what is with the long hair??

Also messed me up seeing Adriana talking with Carmela...then she just faded away.

Christopher is going to get really annoying with all of his rehab talk...I don't think the other guys will put up with it for too long, especially Paulie Walnuts - who was AWOL last night!!! Come on David Chase...I need my Paulie!!

Looking back, there was a lot of foreshadowing about what was going to happen to Tony...Vito's talking about his own future within the Family, Tony standing on the scale (I though T would have a heart attack) and the wife of the guy who committed suicide telling her husband that he could kill Tony of he really wanted to...but for Uncle Jun to do it! WOW! And then Junior running away and hiding himself in the closet like a little kid who just broke his mom's favourtie vase...awesome.

Only thing - the episode didn't open with Tony getting his paper?

If the rest of the season is like this - look out!

I'll miss Adriana.

I thought I saw Paulie at Vesuvio, didn't he ask Artie for menus?

I thought that was pretty funny, too. :teeth: Uh, look in the mirror Christopher.

I never thought that they might work backwards with the episodes.

Isn't Meadow's fiance suppose to be in Dental school? Why is he still at their apartment?

I was curious about Janice's baby? Did she actually give birth or did Bobby get her a baby?

Was this mentioned in the show?

It wasn't mentioned but because she was nursing the baby I am going to assume it is her biological child.

You know I started to think “Dallas’ when Tony got shot. Is there anyway it could be a Carmella or even a Tony dream maybe from eating a little too much sushi. (sushi gives me bad dreams) Isn’t that what Pam ate before her Bobby dream?

I need to look at lastnights espisode again..did it show Uncle Jun pulling the trigger, I was wondering if the shot maybe came from the window. Hey maybe Gene (or his wife) shot T and then hung himself.

I don’t believe Uncle Jun is nuts. That whole thing seems to be a takeoff of that NYC mobster who wore a bathrobe and shower cap for years to try and get out of going to the slammer.

(hmmm.. after reading what I just posting maybe I had a little too much sushi)

.

After Tony was shot, was there a gurgling, fish tank like noise? I thought, oh no, he's going to the fishes!

I taped it so I will watch and listen again.

I have to agree, that was one of the best shows ever. I also think about how things would've played out if Tony's mother (Nancy Marchand) hadn't died in real life.

He had a pot of pasta boiling on the stove. :lmao:

I loved the hair! It made him look so much older and more hardened. Plus, it's reminiscent of Tony, because in Season 5, they showed a lot of scenes of Tony as a teenager and he always had long hair.

Hmmmmmmmm. :scratchin

What if Tony is in a coma while the rest of the family tries to position themselves? I think that would be really interesting. I think that Uncle June does have dementia. But, what if that is all an act? I thought so in the last season, but after last night - I don't really think that anymore.

I SAID THE SAME THING! I think he will be alive but be incapacited (SP?)

That's why they showed AJ at the 5th of the 7 souls: Ka, the double.

The montage in the beginning was so haunting...I've never heard that "Seven Souls" music/poem before, but it was almost disturbing. I'd love to find the lyrics to analyze it a bit more. I can't help but think that each character they showed along with the "soul" meant they are going to die this season. Adriana & Gene already have...

Here it is:

The ancient Egyptians postulated seven souls.
Top soul, and the first to leave at the moment of death, is Ren, the Secret Name. This corresponds to my Director. He directs the film of your life from conception to death. The Secret Name is the title of your film. When you die, that's where Ren came in. This is the scene with Vito, then Janice nursing & Bobby with the trains.
Second soul, and second one off the sinking ship, is Sekem: Energy, Power, Light. The Director gives the orders, Sekem presses the right buttons. This is the scene with Gene finding out about his inheritance.
Number three is Khu, the Guardian Angel. He, she, or it is third man out ... This is the scene with Meadow dancing for Finn. depicted as flying away across a full moon, a bird with luminous wings and head of light. Sort of thing you might see on a screen in an Indian restaurant in Panama. The Khu is responsible for the subject and can be injured in his defense-but not permanently, since the first three souls are eternal. They go back to Heaven for another vessel. The four remaining souls must take their chances with the subject in the Land of the Dead.
Number four is Ba, the Heart, often treacherous. This shows the older guy, Ray? on a treadmill. This is a hawk's body with your face on it, shrunk down to the size of a fist. Many a hero has been brought down, like Samson, by a perfidious Ba.
Number five is Ka, the Double, most closely associated with the subject. The Ka, which usually reaches adolescence at the time of bodily death, is the only reliable guide through the Land of the Dead to the Western Lands. A.J. in the classroom.
Number six is Khaibit, the Shadow, Memory, your whole past conditioning from this and other lives. Adrianne and Carmela in the unfinished house.
Number seven is Sekhu, the Remains. Carmela lying in bed.

Some of the lines are left out in the song.

Very interesting. I'm curious to see how it plays out. Can you tell I've watched the beginning a few times trying to figure it out??? :lmao: Hey, I'm on spring break! I have time on my hands. :teeth:

Wow, Marseeya, thanks!!! Lots of food for thought there. Honestly, I feel like each episode of the Sopranos is like a mini movie. So much goes into it, it's so symbolic and allegorical. And every scene relates and intertwines, even if it's not apparent right away. SOOOO GOOOD!!

I have to go now think about what the juxtaposition of the lyrics with the video means...

Hmm, interesting...
