Sopranos this week--anyone watch???

I have been sort of bored this year too. I don't really care what happens to the characters.

but I thought Chris made $300,000 on the wine....not $300. I got the impression this was pricey wine and Tony had a lot. it just seems like $300 is pittance to Chris who drives a maserati....guess I got this one wrong. ;)

I was thinking $300 was low, too. Especially since someone got shot over it. :rolleyes1

The way Paulie's been acting, feeling betrayed, etc......I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being him.

Paulie was a real life gangster before he started acting. He has it in his contract that he cannot be a rat

I agree about the wine selling press - when I heard 300, I just figured 300 g's!

Now that is a good turnaround for stolen merchandise.

Overall I think this new season is pretty boring and that these episodes seem to be going in 100 different directions.

OHHHH I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought the first episode was confusind and a drag.
My DH is not too happy about it and sent an e-mail to HBO telling them that if it does not get better, he will quit watching it.

It used to be so good!

"I cracked up when Chrissy was bragging on his $300 he made on the wine. I know these actors are not stupid, but they sure do a good job of making their characters look like very stupid people who think they are so smart."

When he says $300 - he meant $300,000 - not $300.

Sorry, but I think the $300 figure was probably closer to accurate. There's no way the 9 or 10 boxes of wine bottles they put in the back of the Escalade was worth $300,000, unless they mentioned it was Dom Perignon or something.

$300 isn't much money, but like Ray Liotta said in Goodfellas, "It's all profit."

Editing to add:

Okay, I just did a little googling and came up with more info on this wine. I saw a wine snob blog and it referred to this episode. The wine they stole was 1986 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. They apparently got 10 cases of it, with Tony and Christopha getting 5 cases each. Christopha sold his for a ridiculously low $300. A single bottle of this wine will fetch at a minimum, according to the site I saw, $160. 12 bottles in 1 case @ $160 per bottle, times 5 cases = $9600 for Christopha's share. So Christopha got about 3% of what he should have tried to get for it, but he certainly wouldn't have gotten $300,000 for it either. Also, apparently this wine is very "sedimenty", so the scene where they were chugging the wine by the bottle was another attempt at humor, since wine like this would require decanting and pouring into a glass unless you like to drink mud.

We learn something every day. :rotfl:

One interesting thing that happened in this ep is that Phil & Tony cut Johnny Sack out of the vitamin deal....that will be significant...new alliances and secrets. Johnny Sack is out of the power picture now.

Also, Christopher's new wife is just an Adrianna replacement for him...that's why we don't know her. Notice he mentioned Adriana right away with her. Ade is def. going to haunt him...

Did anyone notice that Christopher's new girlfriend was drinking wine with dinner after she said she was pregnant? I would not be surprised if she was faking it to get a ring. Christopher is headed down a trail of destruction too. He is still in love with Ade. Maybe Sill chickened out of killing her and let her go? That would be interesting television!

Oh! I don't think Carmella will ever flip on her husband. SHe is way too power hungry. Look how envious she is of *****'s wife and her success with the body shop. If anything Carmella would become a player if she could, although Tony would never let her. Carmella is not as sweet as she tries to appear. Remember how she tried to make Ginny Sac and *****'s wife jealous when Tony got her the new porche?

I love this show and will miss it when it ends!

Ooh, good thought! Hadn't crossed my mind, but you may very well be right. How else would they play out Vito's whereabouts?

Maybe the person to turn against the family will be AJ. He's been out and about bragging about his father's business while spending thousands of dollars at one club. No one has anything on him, so he could easily find things out and report them back to the feds.

I agree that it could be AJ. He's so into clubbing and drugs that the idiot could spill the beans to an undercover FBI agent w/out knowing it.

There definitely seems to be a personality disintegration of the characters. It reminds me of the "who shot JR" thing on Dallas. They were giving everybody a reason to kill him and it seems like that's what they're doing w/Tony.

I wonder about Adrianna too. HBO wouldn't let complaints of violence stop them from showing her getting shot. This is a show about the Mob for Pete's sake. The only thing that makes me think she's dead is a couple of scenes showing her handler upset that she can't be found. Of course, she could be in witness protection.

Good thing I can't flip to the back of the book-something that I never do,but I must admit that I'm intrigued to see how this will end.

I liked all the episodes this year, except maybe the second one. I'm going to miss this show when it's gone.

One thing I don't get from this weeks show is, why were they all mad at Johny Sac. It seemed to be that he pled guitly and they were mad. He wasn't a rat or anything.

Also, anyone think Vito will get wacked this week? Tony seemed to be on the fence about Vito but Phil wants him dead. I think It could be Bye Bye Johnny Cakes!
But Tony may keep him just because he brings in big money.

Because he acknowledged that there was in fact a mob. Always deny, deny, deny. You never go against the family :teeth:

The crime family. Mob families are always setup as a "family" with the don at the head of the family, his capos (captains) and then the underlings. Everyone has their pecking order in the "family."

It was a joke hence the ;) You don't acknowledge that families exist. It is one of the cardinal rules!

I didn't see the ;) and knowing from conversations I've had with my family members that not everyone is up on mob protocol. I thought you were being serious.

Man, you'd probably have gotten me with the joke that you couldn't hear me, I repeat myself, you can't hear me, I repeat myself louder, etc. It's still early. I need more coffee, I guess.

Johnny Sacks is trying to get Tony to help him sell some land he has in New Orleans. Janice had said in the beginning how much she loved the house when they were there for Mrs. Sacks' birthday. When Tony was in therapy he said that he realized that he gets joy out of being mean to her. He felt bad and this was how he made it up to her. (I dislike her tremendously!)

Even in a season where they've obviously not done their best work, "The Sopranos" is still as good as anything else on TV right now.

I'm going to miss this Sunday's episode. We will be in Disney, and I know there is no HBO at the onsite hotels. Did anyone catch the previews? I'm just wondering what direction they are taking this week.
