Thanks for the updates.
Continued prayers for God's blessings on Sophie and her family and that we all be able to accept His will.
You are such an encouragement and inspiration to us all.

Thank you Mike and family for your update on little Sophie. We have been praying for Sophie and all of you. Take good care of yourselves, and we pray for God's miracle for Sophie. Much love and prayers.

God Bless,

Barbara and family

Mike,

Thank you for taking the time to post.

You, Lynda and baby Sophie are never far from my thoughts.

We keep hoping for your miracle.

Thank you Mike, for the update. More prayers are coming your way, so that you and your family have the strength to continue your vigil, and so that Sophie continues to make progress.

I work in the pediatric rehab field, and see babies with brain damage on a regular basis. I will continue to pray that Sophie is one of the "miracle babies" that come along now and then. The brain is an amazing thing, I could give you many stories from my 15 years in this field. Just know that the power of prayer is also amazing, and you definitely have that on your side.
God bless-

Mike & family.... I have read about MANY miracle stories where a very young child can function with one side of a brain. Her youth is on her side. She is in all of our hearts each and every day. There is power in numbers as each of us pray for little Sophie. God Bless you all. And thanks for the updates.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about Sophie's condition. You and your family are always in our thoughts. Your words are truly inspirational and your family has incredible strength. Wishing all the best for sweet, tough little Sophie.

I've been off the cruise board for awhile, but saw the thread.
Prayers and pixie dust to Sophie's family.
May God bless you all.

Our son was born 7 years ago at an amazing hospital in Hamilton, Ontario and we were told that only the right side of his brain had formed. He had a large cyst on his left temple, therefore that side of his brain did not develop properly. We were told at 3 days old he would never walk or talk and we should just take him home and love him. I am thrilled to tell you that he is walking, riding at bike (with training wheels) and talking (too much at times) and starts Grade 2 this coming Tuesday. The power of prayer is amazing and God provides miracles daily. The future of Sophie is in God's hands and he will not forsake you.........I pray daily for your family and especially Sophie.

Thank you for taking time to post an update. Your family, especially Sophie, continues to be in my prayers.

Hello to our DIS Family,

1st and foremost, God bless you all.

We met with Dr Howard today to discuss Sophie's current condition and courses of action as time presses on. As of now Sophie’s physical condition continues to improve, the burns on her little face and fingers continue to heal. Sophie possesses (sp) a strong heart and her sinus rhythms are good. Heart rate, BP are good. The ventilator is still assisting her though when it comes to her breathing. Even though she does initiate breaths on her own and does take some breathes above the ventilator, the effectiveness of those breathes are still being evaluated. In other words are her breaths going to sustain her if the ventilator is removed. That’s the physical side; the mental is quite a different story. While Sophie does have some brain functioning, there are huge questions as to whether she will be able have those functions, which allow each of us to be, who we are and to enjoy, in some capacity, what life has to offer. "Quality of Life" is the burning question we struggle to answer each day. I know this does not sound good, however there is still hope. Since Sophie is so young there is a possibility the functioning part of her brain will assume some of these "higher" functions, allowing her to have some kind of life. This is the part of Sophie’s recovery that is in God's hands and this is the miracle we pray for. Even Dr Howard said we can give Sophie time to receive her miracle. So when we say our prayers this day and everyday we ask God for this miracle, if it be His will, but understand if his plan for Sophie and us is different.

Again to all our DIS family we say THANK YOU for your continuing love, support, and prayers for Sophie and we continue to pray for all of you.

God bless you all

Mike

Mike it is called plasticity and children under the age of three can sustain devastating brain injuries and still overcome tremendous odds. My son was born missing 2/3rds of his brain and we were given the worse case scenarios as well.

Sophie will prove to you what she is capable of. The fact she has made it this far shows what a fighter she is and what a miracle she is. I know it is really hard to stay positive when the docs give such tragic news but please know that a miracle is possible and children have the remarkable ability to heal.

Also realize that doctors HAVE TO tell you the worse case prognosis. When my son was in the hospital a nurse came to me and told me of a child who recovered from a similar prognosis that my son had. I wish I believed her then I was too busy replaying the doctors words over and over in my head about how bad things would be.

Anyway the point of my post is that I have meat tons of miracles in my sons life. There are many many children that have a brain injury early on that have little or slight affects of it later on. So please try to focus on today and not chain what the future may bring since she will probably amaze us all :) Remember right now she is putting all her strength into healing her burns and getting strong again. Once she overcomes the physical she may be able to reorganze her brain to compenstate for what may have been hurt .

Please PM if you need to talk. I also have tons of information on programs that will help Sophie once she is out of the hospital.

(((Hugs)))

Thanks for the updates Mike. Keeping Sophie and her loved ones in my prayers! :grouphug:

Thank you for the update on dear Sophie.

She is in my prayers and heart.

We have been so busy moving these past few days and the next several days, but I always take time to say a prayer for Sophie. May God grant her the miracle she deserves.

Just had a wierd thought ... P is for Purple and also more importantly PRAYER! God bless Sophie and send her a miracle.

(Trying to keep this thread on top)

Thanks, Mike, for the update on Sophie. I'm continuing to keep you all in my prayers, and asking for Sophie's "miracle". However, like you, I'm prefacing my request with "Not my will, but Thine, O Lord". She is in God's hands, whatever happens.

God Bless You All,

Arlene

Hello and God bless to all our DIS family,

Sorry I didn't write last night but we got back from the Hospital late.

Iwant to let all know that the everyone in the affected by Hurricane Frances is in our prayers, and we are praying that Ivan does not touch you.

Sophie just looked tired yesterday and since it was Sunday it truly was her day of rest. Still no changes to report, but we continue to pray.

Again we want to thank everyone of our DIS Family for the love, support and prayers, Sophie needs them, we need them, all those that suffer for one reason or another need them too.

God Bless You All.

Mike

Thank you for taking time to update us. Maybe you can take a cue from Sophie and "get some rest" today, too.

You're all in my prayers,
Amy

Mike, bless you for thinking aboit others at a time like this.

Mike, thank you for having such consideration for the Dis'ers during your difficult days in keeping us informed, we appreciate it very much.
My prayers continue that the lord will provide what is best for Sophie. Prayers continue for your comfort, for your continued strength, and for the souls of your loved ones. You are in my thoughts continually, as with all Dis'ers, I'm sure. Since hearing of your family's tragedy, there is not a morning that you, Sophie and your loved ones are not the first thought and prayers of my day. If you find yourself having a difficult moment, please take comfort in thinking that at that very moment, a prayer is being said for you, for Sophie, for your loved ones. When I pray for you and yours, I also try to consider your difficulties, and in consideration of them, I ask the Lord to ease them, to support and to guide you. You are all in my prayers and will continue to be. God Bless.
