We leave in app 8 hours for our first ever Universal trip!!! We have DS 2-8-12 they got up at 6am ready to go and we are not leaving till 8pm (driving through the night. I appreciate all the wonderful info here, it has been so helpful. When we get back I will try to return the favor. I have one concern, I called this am to find out if there is any way we could sign up to check in early because DH will be driving all night and he will need a nap I was told (not very nicely either) that the hotel is completly full and that it has highly unlikely and that a upgrade would be nearly impossible. Has anyone every stayed when the HRH is full? Does this make FOTL have a pretty long wait? Is the service and pools still good with a crowd? Thks for any answer given. I cant believe we will finally be there in the am :cool1:  :rotfl2:

Not everyone at HRH is there for Universal, and I highly doubt FOTL (Express) lines will be too long, they generally say 15 minutes or less which is great during this time of year.

Hope you have an awesome trip & safe drive. The weather here in Florida is clear.

I've stayed at HRH when it was full in September due to hurricanes and evacuees coming from different parts of the state. The hotel itself was very crowded (parking, cafes, pool), but the parks weren't. I thought all Floridians would have APs, but apparently not.

We were at WDW earlier this month during Bike Week, and we saw some older guy (very large man in leather/bike outfit) passed out in his kid's stroller while the kid/mom were on Snow White...could this be an option for your DH?

I knew I should have taken a picture of it.

Safe traveling wishes going your way!

Welcome aboard.

The best idea for a nap after you arrive, would be to take a lounge chair by the pool in a spot away from everyone. The only thing is, there is music being played, and kids running around. But he'd probably sleep right thru it. He could go back to the car and nap, I've done that once when my room was not ready. I go to lunch every day and take a power nap in my car, it's easy. Sit in the passenger seat, put it down, crack the windows open, put a towel over your head, and go out for 15 minutes. Yes, I know, most people would sleep for hours, but I actually wake up at the same time and make it back to work.
This is what the pool looks like from a lounge chair, so I'm sure he'll be able to sleep, even with the music playing.

I assume you'll have a cooler packed for the trip. But just in case you forgot anything, there is a Publix located 1 mile north of the park.

Have fun!! Post a trip report when you get back! :cool1:
