Sooo what is standby?

I know it might sound like a crazy simple question, but what are these "standby" lines people are talking about?

I get the fastpass, I get the regular line ups. What is a standby line and what's the difference??

Standby is another name for the regular line.

2- I get the regular line ups.

1- "FastPass Return Line."

2- "Standby Line."

(There is also the "Single Rider Line" on 3 specific WDW attractions.)

I can understand why you'd question that! Never understood why it was called standby.
To me standby means something like the airlines letting you wait around JUST IN CASE an empty seat comes up. Good grief. You know the empty seats will come up on the Disney rides.

Well, watching the evolution of FP over the past year, and adding in suppositions about FP+..... your description could be more accurate than you think...........
