Soon, off to St. L, to be victorious

Its a small world.

When were you at Cor Jesu. My sister was there, class of 81, and I dated class of 83 and 84. Mass before prom. But without reconciliation, go figure. There is one girl from Cor Jesu I wish I could go back and see. You are not an 83 grad, are you? haha. I still have a steamers jersey that was bought at an auction, of Bellinger's. I was there during Slobo etc. Good old days. BTW, A Chaminade guy has brought them back, I understand.

Your husband was at St. mary"s? I bet we know a lot of the same poeple, at least from the religious side, as well as from the benfactor side. Denny Long, etc. My old man graduated from St. Mary's and then was in the fraternity that Long, etc. came out of.

Ok Ok, memories. Ted Drews, and then, going to Clayton and watching the rocky horror.

Imos, that'sa nicea pizza, and a place that started with a c....

And, Naugles macho meat burrito, right before the folks' imposed curfew

Nope, not an '83 grad... '90 gal here. Although I went to a lot of ACC classes with the girls from the higher grades. NERD!
Thank goodness no mass before our prom. We had it downtown but I can't remember where. Somewhere gated. Hubby was an '88 grad of St. Mary's. Yes, I know of Denny Long... My Dad went to St. Mary's too. I'll bet my Dad knows your Dad. My Dad hung out with Villa, Long, etc... He tells great stories of drag racing down Grand Avenue back in the day.
My favorite Steamer was Nebo Bandovic. Oh my! I still have his autograph on the back of a ticket. He was soooo cute back then... (as we all were, I guess!)
I miss Ted Drewes. Just went back to StL in June (first time in 4 years)
We hit Ted Drewes, Imos, White Castle and a few other choice places all in a matter of 3 days.

Now I am homesick!

Who said NAUGLES?!?!?! Oh man! MISS that place! You can't beat those melted nachos.

Class of 82 here, dennis99ss. Stolz, Mullen, Viviano, Ferdinand, Pudlowski (sp?), West, Ell, etc, etc, etc... Geez - where's my yearbook? Bunch of the same Chaminade guys went to our prom (81 and 82).

There's an Uncle Bills on Manchester Rd. Clean place, same food, just not the same when it is daylight outside. ;)

Hey Amanda, are you getting a salad with that pizza? I love Imo's salad as much as that pizza! Yum Yum Yum.

dennis99ss,"And, Naugles macho meat burrito, right before the folks' imposed curfew"
Sweetie...Naugles was NOT a St louis or even MO thing....

This transplanted California gal had Naugles in the 80's.

I went to high school at Anahiem HS (at one point....with Fountain Valley HS and La Quinta HS, and actual continuation school attached to Edison HS {I do forget the name of it at this time...}].

I went to keg parties in HS and No Doubt played...Gwen wasn't singing for them at the time though...

Tthey did used to have a keyboard player called "Cholly" or "Jolly"....who didn't live past HS. Really great guy though. He made me notice the name and put up or made others put up the "No Doubt" stickers....EVERYWHERE.

I do hope it's the Cards VS the Angels......

Right now I want CARDS CARDS CARDS To Wipe evryones behinds.....but I could live with Angels....Naw, cancel that, I'd rather the White Sox over the Angels...who drove me to claim my fav ream as the Blue Jays!!!!...I'll send my Dad a kleenex if the Angels lose...

dennis....do you like an aloe treated kleenex or traditional? Is pink or blue better? What should we send you?? Do you have a PO box for all these consolation wipes???

Go cards. :earboy2:

Rosary High School and graduated from Riverview Gardens High School, AKA, ReferView.

I know a couple of girls that went to Rosary. Graduated in 84? or was it 83?

Flake, Ostoski.... sound familiar?

Wow, now you have me thinking, but, that's for later, I am so out-a-here. I will give a trip report when I come back. One more memory....getting served at the bar on Gravois with the shark hanging off the outside wall....what was the name of that place??????\\Villa, I forgot about the lighting folks. Schicker, McCartney, their condo project in Destin. St. Mary's was the school for the south side back in the day.

That would be Sybergs and it is still there :)

Dallasities?!!! Hey, some of us are just displaced Houstonians. :(

I just hope that it's a well-fought, close series between the two teams. I have nothing against the Cardinals, mostly being glad to have beaten the evil Atlanta team. Houston needs to go all the way one day but one thing us long suffering Astros fans have learned is PATIENCE. ;)

I think it will be a great series! Have fun at the game and bring home a few victories for the Astros! :cool1:

I asked the Lord to give me patience & he made me a Houston fan. :teeth: Astros, Oilers/Texans, U of H (Phi Slamma Jamma, 1983-I still get sick watching the replay of that last shot!). Thank God for the Rockets-two time NBA Champs!

LOL, jimmiej! It could have been worse! He could have made you a Cubbie fan. ;) :rotfl2:

:grouphug: I just want to express my condolences to the Astros for last night.;)

I need to watch the dang game! Geesh...I don't watch TV until 10pm so I forget about it.

Yep, I was thinking about dennis99ss when Reggie hit that homer! Woo hoo! Great game! I hope dennis99ss still got to enjoy his visit. Maybe a quick trip to Ted Drewes made everything better? ;)

GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say congratulations to the Astros and to tip my hat. I am still in shock that we lost at home. It was nice to see Busch Stadium, I am going to miss it.

Why be in shock? It wasn't too long ago that the Astros beat the Cards in a two game series at Busch in the last week of the regular season. The Astros have been a good team since about the end of the sixth or seventh week of the season. If they had gone 30-15 instead of 15-30 to start the season it would have gone to the wire to see who wins the division. By the time they turned it around the Cards had too much of a lead to overcome.

Well our Stadium is coming down and it is just a weird feeling. Lots of memories there.

Yep - LOTS of memories there!

I hope Reggie is okay and can play Saturday. That was a terribly hard hit he took.

I told my dh that it is *his* fault that the Cardinals lost. He kept saying that he hopes the Cardinals clinch it in the 6th game (we have tickets to that game) so we had to lose! I think he has changed his mind and would rather they win the rest and clinch! ;)

What a GREAT time.

On Wednesday, me and the two boys flew out, arrived in St. L. and had Imos for dinner. Then, stayed downtown. On Thursday, we ran out to the transportation museum, then went to Rigazzi's to eat more pizza. At Rigazzi's, meet some firemen, who told us about the museum at the training center. Went over to the training center, took the tour. Then, went out to Chaminade to visit. Then back to the hotel, swam a little, then over to the game.

Had great seats, and better yet, the people were great. It seemed that the people of St. Louis went overboard to make sure that we did not feel as if we were not wanted, because we had our Astros gear on. Sure, there were the happy comments, etc. but, there was no mean spirited talk during the whole weekend, and, after the game, people were saying nice things, instead of saying negative comments. It was a very nice experience.

And, the beers. In Houston, we get 16 ox beers. They do that in St. L. as well, but, they also have a monster beer, which is great so you don't have to get out of your seat as much.

The game was great, we were a couple of rows down from the top of the section, and 5-7 rows in front of us were a group of Mattress Mac's people. So, we had a little hometown feel there.

The game was, as I said above great. The feel of the stadium was fantastic. IOt was like a religious experience, and that was before we started.

We left the game, took a lot of pictures at the statutes outside, etc., then went to White Castle, and back to the hotel.

On Friday, we went to the Arch, walked over to the landing, ate at Hannigens, and then headed to the airport.

Yesterday, we had soccer and cub scouts, so we couldn't go to the game, but, we are today, and I am tomorrow. What a great series.
