Well I just thought I would add my two cents. I was induced at 37 weeks with all three of my babies and like you I was really scared with the first one. They warned me that I could be in labor for a long time since I was early and being induced. Well they were wrong - I went from nothing to a baby in only 6 hours and it was only the last couple that were bad and I didn't even have an epidural. None of the inductions were bad, in fact I don't know if my body knows how to have a baby on its own.

This is something I tell all the pregnant ladies I know: You plan on a [they are censoring out the anatomical word for it so I'll call it "normal"] birth but sometimes things don't go that way. If you find yourself facing a turn of events, don't be unduly frightened by the words "C-Section". To me it was really no big deal. I sometimes watch the show "A Baby Story" and the women get so upset when the Dr. suggests that a C-section may be a possibility. They cry uncontrollably and start to shake. I didn't have a chance to work up any fear for my 1st section (3rd son)....I had a major abruption while pushing and my son was born by emergency C-section. (Seven minutes from birthing room to delivery......now that's an emergency! He's 6 now and never had any problems.) So when I got pregnant with w/ my 4th child I had had 2 ["normal"] deliveries and 1 C-section and the Dr. gave me the choice of deliveries for #4 and guess what? I CHOSE a C-section!!! I think most of the horror stories about C-sections are generated by first-time moms who have nothing else to compare it to. I had an episiotomy w/ each of my first 2. When people ask why I chose a C-section I say, "Where would you rather be cut, on your belly or DOWN THERE?" So if at any point you are told that you have to deliver by C-section just say to yourself, "I'm not going to be scared, my friend on the disboards said that it's no big deal!"

I have 3 kids and had to be induced twice. For me it went real well. I think you'll do fine! Good luck!
