Sony trv 260 questains

Just found a Sony TRV 260 at walmart for $100. It is missing its battery and charger. IS it a good deal?
are 8mm outdated?
Will I be able to find film?

Should I just save up for a lighter, dvd camera.

Or did I get a good deal?

Well it really depends on how much you would have to spend on the charger and battery. If it is close to or over $50, I would say pass and save towards a MiniDV camera.

Although this is not just 8mm, it is Digital8. You can find the TRV 280(also digital8) for $199 everyday at the SonyStyle site.
