We will be in Disney World for a week, and plan to let our son wear his birthday button while we're there. We will be at the Animal Kingdom on his actual birthday - June 7. Is there anything we should try to do to make the day extra special for him? And tips or hints? Thanks!

Make sure you let Cast Members know it is his actual birthday. Don't be afraid to point it out, if they don't see the button. Do the same at restaurants. If you know which restaurants you will be at, I think you can buy a small birthday cake. Contact them ahead of time.

Make sure he keeps that button on..the CM's do pay attention to these buttons, and I'm sure he will hear 'happy birthday' wherever he goes. If you are dinning at a table service restaurant mention your birthday boy when checking in, or to your server, and they will bring him a special cupcake. Be at the parks before rope drop, and try to strike up a conversation with a CM....pixie dust happens ! pixiedust:

My sister and I took our mom to WDW for her 60th birthday. The first morning of our trip we presented an autograph book to her. Not only to get character autographs, but those from anyone (CMs and even other guests!) who wished her a "happy birthday!" She loved the idea and had fun getting people to sign her book. And it was really fun to get the CMs from the World Showcase write "happy birthday" in their native language.

You could do the same thing on his actual birthday. I think that'd be cool to have a book if birthday wishes from the CMs from Africa and Asia!

We just had my daughters 6th birthday last Friday and ate at Tusker House for breakfast. They gave my daughter a signed birthday card by the fab 5 and a cupcake. And, of course all the characters had great interaction with her during our breakfast. She wore her birthday button all 11 days we were there and got tons of birthday wishes, birthday cards from Belle and the Beast, the fab 5, and Mickey and Minnie, and all the princesses. Also, got birthday cupcakes from almost all of our reservations and people sung her lots of happy birthday songs. The best thing she got was 3 fastpasses to any attractiong from a great CM at Ariels ride in Fantasyland! Hope your son enjoys his birthday, and good luck.

We going in July to celebrate our son's first birthday, which was in May. Do they do anything special if their birthday was a few months ago?

What I find is everyone says happy birthday if you wear the pin. If you book a meal put in that you are celebrating the birthday and you will get a cupcake and a card.

If you are not eating in a table service restaurant, there should be someplace where you can get cupcakes at Animal Kingdom Park.

These cupcake photos are from 2011. They are from the Kusifiri Coffee Shop & Bakery at Animal Kingdom. If you post in the "Show Me The Cupcakes" thread over on the resort board, they can tell you what the current cupcake selection is at Animal Kingdom.

You also can get cupcakes in Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney, and some of the hotels.

Like mentioned earlier, definitely bring up the birthday boy at TS locations and in any ADRs you may have made. Have him wear the birthday pin throughout the trip if you would like or if he's okay with constant attention. Make sure to fit in all of his favorite attractions at the park on his actual birthday--maybe try to tell the Kilimanjaro Safari driver it's his birthday? My entire jeep sang for an elderly woman a few years back when the driver announced her birthday.

Where do you "put in" that you are celebrating a birthday? I don't see anything like that on the online reservation system. Thanks.

If you are making dining reservations there is a place asking if you are celebrating anything. At least there was when I did it for my bday in nov!
