What song did you use for the bride and father dance ? What about the song for groom and his mother? :cool1: :cool1:

I wanted my dad to get to pick the song, so we danced to an instrumental jazz song that's his all-time favorite (he didn't realize that generally father-daughter songs have sentimental lyrics :goodvibes ).

DH danced with his mom to "Movin' Right Along" from the Muppet movie.

My father and I are dancing to Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman

for father/daughter we danced to i loved her first by heartland
mother/son was my wish by rascal flatts

For the mother/son dance, we picked "I Hope You Dance" (Lee Ann Womack).

For the father/daughter dance, I picked something that's a little more unusual, probably a lot of people have never even heard of: "Peg 'O My Heart". It's an old Irish love song. There's a story behind it though. It's one of my dad's favorite songs, and he used to play it on the harmonica when I was growing up. At one point, I ended up needing to learn a bunch of oldies for something going on at one of the elementary schools (I play piano), and when I did, mom and I made a point of finding the music to "Peg 'O My Heart" to surprise my dad. It wasn't easy to find that music either. Had to make the library do some special searches for it, and I believe they had to copy it from a book in the main library in Indianapolis.

At any rate, I learned to play it for him. I played it for him then, and made sure I played it when I was playing music before my sister's wedding, and various other times.

I knew it had to be either that or "Daddy's Little Girl". My aunt bought the single of that for him as soon as I was born, and he used to play that for me a lot when I was very small. But since that one is almost a cliche, I decided on "Peg". I told dad when we were dancing that I figured it had to be that song, since we had both played it for each other. And you know what he said? "Or you could have picked 'Daddy's Little Girl'." :lovestruc Yep, I knew which ones would be the right ones. (Besides, my sis told me that mom hated "Daddy's Little Girl".... but she was crying when dad and I were dancing. I don't think just us dancing would have been quite enough to do it - I think it was the song and the history on top of it.)

Of course, with both songs, they were just played by the violinist, so there were no words, just the melody. It was beautiful that way, though.

"My father and I are dancing to Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman"

Oh, I love that song!!!!! Fantastic choice!

When my DS got married recently, we dance to "Find Your Wings" by Mark Harris. There wasn't a dry eye. Not even my son.

Thanks! It really is the perfect song, although I can't even listen to it without crying, so I will be a wreck on my wedding day!

It really is the new "Butterfly Kisses." That is a great song for a Disney wedding. What a special moment that will be!!

I started crying on the first note of the song. People kept saying, "Where did you find that song?!" The band learned it just for our dance and did an incredible job. They said they like it so much and got so many comments that they were adding it to their song list. So, if any Mom out there needs a song....look that song by Mark Harris up. It was a hit.

I just heard the song, and it gave me goosebumbs!!! I didn't have a song for my DF and his mom, so I think this will be perfect for them! Thanks!

I knew it was the one the first time I heard it. I hope they find as much meaning in those words as we did.

I think you will have a specatcular and memorable day!!

For the father/daughter dance we are using Daddy's little Girl by Al Martino

Thank you so much! They are going to LOVE it!

We too will be using "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts...actually has become a big joke...it was playing in the car and just before I was going to say that I wanted to use it, my dad piped up with this is the song I want played at my funeral!?!?!?! So, now we have to use it. My family loves Rascal Flatts too, so it works.

Has anyone done the father/daughter and mother/son at the same time? We were thinking about it to speed things up a little!

We did it a little different. First DS and I danced for about 1/3 the song and then they asked all Moms and sons to join us. Then DIL and her Dad danced about that much of their song and all Dads and daughters were asked to join. It made the time go faster for the guests because while half were dancing, the other half was taking pictures of their spouses and their kids.

Thank you so much..I just listened to the song am so excited to tell my daughter about it!! Her dad listened and he loved it..Thanks

My dad's not a a mushy guy at all and he loves the oldies so we agreed that "My Girl" by the Tempatations would be our song.

My DH and his mom danced to "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas.

This idea is so cute!! Too bad I don't think we have enough father/daughter, mother/son combos to make it work...but I'll check!
