Song was a pain, but it all worked out

We flew Song from Boston to MCO on 12/3 and returned 12/10. The good news is that we got on both flights (gee, how lovely, given that we bought tickets 11 months ago!) and both were relatively on-time (return flight was delayed taking off but made up some of the time enroute) -- but the whole overbooking and consolidation of their schedules made the airport gate scene a 3-ring circus, with Song staffers really trying to coerce people into taking vouchers and later flights. On 12/10 at MCO, the Song staff spent over 90 minutes calling for volunteers to give up seats before they would assign seats to those of us waiting for the flight (and at check-in they refused to assign our seats -- "has to be done at the gate" we were told). PATHETIC!

Bottom line: get to the airport extra, extra early for your departure and returning flights, and don't assume that "just" because you've had assigned seats for months you will still have assigned seats when you arrive at the airport. Also, do be prepared for equipment changes; our flight to MCO was on Delta equipment, so no tv screens in the seat backs or other Song amenities.

And so it starts....you kind of have to expect the equipment changes to be more frequent as they try to cycle through the planes and get them retrofitted. I have to say, I have loved flying Song in the past on many occasions but for my next few flights in the next 12 months, I'm just not so sure. I'm flying in Oct with another mom and her dd and just don't want to have to deal with a lot of changes. I think I'll just wait for JetBlue to open their Oct window and see what shakes out. And flying from Logan (or Providence) to Tampa in Jan/Feb hasn't been firmed up yet either...could go either way at this point.
Hopefully, Delta can get it all figured out and it will be fun to fly with them again.
