We used Disney Vidoegraphy, and now I have to pick out songs for them to set the video to!

They want 3 songs for the "Opening Montage" section which will cover some shots of us the day of the Welcome Dinner and "best of the best" of the whole she-bang.

Then, they want one song for "Pre-Ceremony"
One Song for "Pre-Reception" (picture taking, cocktail hour, etc.)
And then a song for the Welcome Dinner (which they filmed).

For the opening montage, I was thinking of:

"Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas (from "Meet the Robinsons." DH loves this song, so I really have to include it)
"Making Memories of Us" by Keith Urban (I love this song)

Other ones I like:
"Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante (Sleepless in Seattle)
"L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole
"Beautiful" by Wayne Brady and Jim Brickman

But, I really want a kind of "timeless" feel to the video, and I'm afraid "Making Memories of Us" wouldn't feel that timeless. And if I did use it, I'd need another song, too (maybe from above). And what order would I put them in to make them flow well??

For the Pre-Ceremony, I'm definitely leaning to "Chapel of Lovel" by the Dixie Cups. I think it will set a fun tone.

For the Pre-Reception, I'm leaning to "Makin' Whoopee" also off the Sleepless in Seattle soundtrack. I thought the whoopee reference was a bit riske', but in reality, it's not talking that much about sex, and I think it's kind of fun. I also would REALLY like to use the "Making Memories" song from the Journey into Imagination pavilion, because it talks about taking pictures in a ragtime beat, but I don't know if they could play only the first verse and then segue to the whoopee song.

For the Welcome Dinner..."That's Amore" by Dean Martin.

So, as you can see...all the songs I have (with the exception of a few I like for the opening montage) are pretty "classic."

Any other suggestions???

Should we just cut some of our favorite songs in the interest of making the "theme" stick?

I used L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole for the opening to our video. I is really nice and sets the 'stage' so to speak.

My only suggestion would be to mix in some instrumentals - like maybe movie scores - to make the songs with lyrics stand out more and give the video some variety.

Carrie-I agree with you, but I can't think of much that would flow well. Since I know you're very "musical" let me know if you have any ideas...

What about "I Will" by the Beatles?

and you know, I am partial to "the luckiest" by Ben Folds

Do you have any favorite movies? It doesn't have to be a Disney one, but if you did want that, Michael Giacchino's Pixar scores are always great, and the Thomas Newman's Wall*E/Eve theme might be gorgeous someplace.

I'm partial to anything Mancini, too, but it definitely has the feel of a certain era, which you may not be going for. Jerry Goldsmith's scores are dramatic, and Rachael Portman does gorgeous, delicate-sounding pieces (check out the Emma soundtrack). Oh, and lots of people like Thomas Newman's score for "Little Women" too! :)

i am not that good with music but maybe if you want the feel of non lyriced music but with some words you coulduse Enya. i think here songs arebeautiful. i saw one wedding video with it and it made me cry.

hope this helps

Oh, and lots of people like Thomas Newman's score for "Little Women" too! :)

I'm so not even getting married, I just like reading here...but I LOVE this score!!! I am so using part of it whenever I get married. It is gorgeous!!

There are lots of songs that you can find just instrumental versions for. Some of my favorite songs for weddings/wedding photo montages:

Just the Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra
At Last - Etta James
Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
Just Like Heaven - Katie Melua

Hi Heidi - I love Linda Rondstadt's All My Life and Don't Know Much (old songs I know) but I love them - I have them in my "wedding" file for when I get married. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the Forrest Gump Suite (the song that plays when the feather is floating around).

I'm sure all of your songs will be wonderful and your video a beautiful remembrance of your day.

I really love these people called the vitamin string quartet, the have done string versions of nearly any popular song you can think of, so take a song you like, play it with strings and suddenly its classy and timeless.

Check out this version of bohemian rhapsody.

They have an album called the modern wedding collection with great songs like chasing cars from snow patrol and daughters from John Mayer. I love listening to them and singing along in my head.

Thanks for all the great ideas!!! I've listened to them all (thanks iTunes!) and it really gets the creative ideas flowing!

The Vitamin String Quartett CRACKED ME UP! They are really good, but I listened to "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Back in Black" and it does make the songs sound really classy! Hilarious. Also, Aerosmith's "Dont Want to Miss a Thing" was really good!

I've found a few good finds, too.

On "The Bucket List" soundtrack, there's an instrumental version of "A Wink and a Smile" that's really good. And the version of "La Vie en Rose" is really similar to the Louis Armstrong version, but I think the "harshness" of the trumpet is softened a bit.

Also, the whole "Leatherheads" soundtrack is a great place to look for ragtime/early jazz music.

I need to dig through DH's CDs. He's a soundtrack aficionado!
