Son will turn two during trip. Suggestions about airfare?

I've been planning a trip for our family to Disney World and have been planning on not buying a seat for our son on the airplane, since he will be just under two when we leave. I checked today and the airline we were planning on using requires passengers to buy a ticket if the child turns two during the trip, which is annoying since he will be two days past his birthday. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions or know of airlines that have a different policy? Thanks.

I think ALL airlines require a ticket at age 2, AND require a birth certificate as proof of age if they're under 2. Personally, I would just suck it up and buy the extra seat.

No.. Once the child turns two he/she needs a seat. No airline will let him fly home at age two without at ticket. They would be in violation of the FAA regulations and the fines are not something they will risk

You probably could buy him just a one way ticket home, but that means his ticket isn't linked to yours so when they see a solo traveler they could just randomly move him.

You will need a birth certificate with a child that close to two I have seen kids denied boarding because Mom/Dad couldn't prove that toddler was under two.

After hearing about the mom whose child went bouncing around the United flight I find this just so scary, but....

I think that answers it! We will be buying a ticket. Since that's the case, I'm thinking of postponing the trip until the fall, in hopes that they will offer eat free in that fall again, although I'm honestly to sure it would save us too much money.
