Just me and my son. I have sold down BLT to 100 points given his age.

I think he would still enjoy going at least every other year. Sometimes we stay in a studio and sometimes in a 1 bedroom (but probably those days are over with the lack of points).

I was thinking of adding 75 points VGF :confused3

My son is 19, almost 20 and he still loves to go annually. In fact he was just there a week ago. And we were all there in January and last October.

Yep...while at least character meals are no longer mandatory and are now frowned upon

My son just did Crystal Palace with his friends last week. He was thrilled they could add him to their reservation.

Our son was 7 when we bought. We went twice a year to WDW until we moved west. Then we started to split trips between WDW and DLR.

He's now 28.

When Disney offered the OKW extension years ago, my wife and weren't going to do it. Our son decided he wanted to own there for his grandkids, so HE paid for it.

He now lives in Ca and has had an AP for DLR for years.

When we realized we needed more points for staying at VGC vs OKW, he paid for an add on there.

I think between his parents and Walt's ghost, he's been brainwashed, but at least in a good way!

I think it depends entirely on the kid, and we also need to keep in mind that their interests change as they get "older." :rotfl2: In addition, as they get "older," there are a LOT more school and extracurricular restrictions (sports, etc) that enter the picture.

We did 2-3 trips a year from the time Girlie was 3 until she was 10. But about 9 her interests changed a bit. She still loves Disney, but she'd rather do other things like go see relatives in New England, visit Washington, DC or national parks out west.

In April we had a figure skating competition in Maitland (NE suburb of Orlando). Her events were on Friday and Sunday, so I asked her if she wanted to go to WDW on Saturday. She said no -- wanted to stay and watch some of the higher-level girls skate.

But she's not over Disney yet. She wants to see the new Fantasyland and we're currently planning to do a trip with her BFF's family in the next few months...if all of the planets fall into perfect alignment for them. If not, we'll go on our own.

But bottom line, I think it really depends enormously on the kid.

I have a 12 year old son. We did not go to Disney last year and he and his sisters missed it a lot!!! We started taking him when he was 6 and he still loves it as much as ever. His sisters who are older also still love it too. We are planning two trips this year because they do not have the same vacations. For the first time, our son is bringing a friend (which I think will make it even more fun for him) in November. Then we are going again with our two daughters who will both be on a break from college in March.

I thought about adding a friend = 1 bedroom for BLT AFTER I sold down my BLT points to 100. A little backwards to sell down BLT (bought a pre-open prices) to buy at VGF at $145...???

Doesn't matter. It is what it is.

You currently own 100 points at BLT.

The question is: Do I now buy VGF?

VGF is one alternative, but there are numerous other alternatives. You should explore ALL of those -- from where you are today, not looking back. What was...is past.

Throw out the history books and go from where you are today.

I'm going to pass for now...I'll just do what I am doing at Thxgiving...I have 4 nights on points with a little borrowing and 2 nights on cash...though that leaves me with no points until Sept 2015:scared1:

My kids are 14 and 20 so now we only do 2 Bedrooms so we need more and more points. I don't know who wants to go more when we go, us or them.

My daughter is 18 and WDW is her favorite vacation spot. We've teased her that when we retire and she is in college/working that we will have to go without her cause she won't have enough free time, she doesn't think that is very funny!

We said the same thing to our 19 year old and 17 year old daughters who will both be in college next year. But, it backfired! Instead of them not getting to go to Disney - we are going twice. Once with the girls when they have spring break and once with our son this fall! It is all three of our kids favorite vacation place in the world.

I bought into VWL when our DD's were 23 and 19 thinking mostly for myself and my DW. Now it's turned out that our oldest DD is the real DisneyNut and would probably disown me if I ever sold our points. She uses the points more than we do and is always asking me how many points I have left over..she would go 4 times a year if she could but as a teacher she is limited to school vacations which is costly...point wise.

My kids were 7, 7 and 9 when we bought in 2006. When we go this Dec, it will be their 2nd trip this year. They do better when we're there with family and they have their cousins and can do their own things a bit (DS-16 and my nephew hit the SSR hot tub every evening of our 2011 Dec trip...will do so this time, I bet, at AKV). One DD-14 still likes character meals and really enjoyed Garden Grill this past January (uggghh for us old folks though). SIL1's family goes a couple weeks every year...even this summer with 20 and 18 year old DSs and a 15 year old DD. The changes are: no more extra magic morning hours, need a 2BR instead of a 1BR (need extra bathroom space for sure), sometimes (my nephews, not my DS yet) bring girlfriends. SIL1 and her DH love a WDW vacation...they do their own thing and their kids do their own thing (usually sleep late and hang by the pool/hot tub late at night...and eat, eat, eat).

I want to add that I am hoping 1 of my kids gets married at WDW (hopefully a DD) and I keep pushing that (hoping all the trips will help convince one of them)...so far they aren't too interested (:worried:).

Its all 3 of my DD's favorite vacation spot and they have been to a lot of places! They are 22, 20 and 18 and the 2 older DD's have been to WDW twice each without DH and I using my mom's RCI!!!!!! Older DD stayed a week last July in a 2 bedroom at BWV with friends without us:( I need to start tapping into the RCI deals and saving my points:thumbsup2
