My son got teased at the playground today for the first time in a year about his glasses.
He was playing with a new friend and another older kid was calling him 4 eyes , and he didn't respond, because I don't think he had ever heard that before (he's 6)
So the kid kept it up and finally said,"you with the glasses , you are a four eyes, four eyes" (which is also when I realized what was going on)
I stood up to walk closer.
And my son turned around , stared him directly in the eyes and said,

"YES, but I'm kind."

It just about blew me away , but then...

His new little friend said "yeah, he's kind. But I'm not" and punched the other kid and knocked him down!

His mother was horrified and made him leave immediately , but at least a tiny little part of me thought it was awesome.
Sometimes it's nice to have a good friend willing to do bad things for you.

The older boy was fine, btw, but I imagine he will think twice next time.

Some children are just so cruel - so glad this had a good ending. My DGS has Dyspraxia & SPD - he doesn't get sarcasm - if someone had said four eyes to him he'd probably have said "Awesome - that means I can see better"!

You have to wonder how a six year old would know that the phrase four eyes is used as a taunt.

Good for your son and good for his friend. I think most bullies would think twice of someone actually stood up to them. And sometimes a punch has to be thrown. Hopefully this bully realize the errors of his ways and never teases another kid again. I hope you son's friend got ice cream or some sort of treat. :teeth:

Funny (related) story--my oldest is now 21. Growing up, she was always the smallest girl in her class, but she's one tough kid. The Bus Bully was a big, mean kid, but he was afraid of her! Apparently one day, Bus Bully was picking on DD's friend. She said, "Stop picking on my friend, or I'll flick you!" (you know, with your thumb and forefinger). Well, the bus lurched, and she ended up flicking him in the eye--"I didn't mean it, Mom! I didn't want to HURT him!" The entire bus laughed, and the bus driver developed temporary blindness. It was so funny--my poor DD, she felt so bad, but her friend who told me the story thought it was the awesomest thing ever.

FTR, DD is now 5'2", and she still comes out swinging for the underdog.
