Somewhat off topic

I regret not riding the agua duck but could not get my fearful but on it

I have to admit I was kind of scared the first time even after watching dozens of videos, and telling my kids " see, if they can do it you can do it". Couldn't let my kids see me nervous so just went for it. But nervous everytime, even the 10th + time. Still fun :)

I watch ride videos of rides I've never tried before to see if it is something I might enjoy. I watch ride videos to look for things like hidden mickeys. I like to look for lights on ride videos to see something I might not experience myself. I watch ride videos of rides that are no longer there, like the original Journey into Imagination, Horizons, and World of Motion.

I hate to disagree on such a friendly thread but I think big thunder mountain is scary compared to 7dmt

Not to disagree but I love watching cop on YouTube even though it is outdated

No worries :) I only meant the style, 7DMT looks pretty similar to BTMRR here in California. I'm just planning my first trip to WDW so I've not been on either at WDW, only Disneyland's version.

I think the only rides I didnt do this for were 7DMT (because it seemed like it was going to be just like BTMRR. It turned out to be much more tame.) And Soarin' because for obvious reasons, you can't get the real feel of the ride on video.

As for other thrill rides, I have watched EE ride videos dozens of times to try and ease myself into riding it and every time I make up my mind that I will do it, I chicken out at the last minute. I think the fact that there is a portion where I cant see is what troubles me because I am not sure what to expect. Even though, I honestly don't mind the backwards part. But not being able to see a ride video for FOP is preventing me from wanting to ride that too. I hear mostly that its just like Star Tours in intensity, so if thats the case then I will be fine, but its still a question mark in my mind depending on how elevated from the ground you are...

There is a ride video for fop just watched it

I watched some with DD before the first time we took her so I could gauge what she wanted to do and what to FP. Turns out I have a daredevil, so no ride is too crazy for her. Disney is very tame by her 7 year old standards.

@DiannaVM On FOP your feet never leave the floor. You are seated on a 'motorbike' simulator and the front wall goes away to show the screen. It is an awesome ride! I have intense vertigo and had some moments where I needed to close my eyes to recenter myself, but love the ride!

That puts me much more at ease about it, knowing you don't elevate or anything. I have no problem with closing my eyes if I get dizzy (there are some spots I sometimes have to do it with Soarin and even on Phillarmagic during the magic carpet ride at some points), but its comforting to know that I will be barely moving physically.

We love watching ride videos. But we typically only watch the ones that we have been on before. We don't like to ruin the surprise of a new attraction. That being said, our last two trips we were not able to get on Frozen Ever after so we did eventually watch it on YouTube. (The first time it was still under construction and the second time it broke down.)

My kids especially love watching Splash Mountain.

No, but I will from now on. Soarin made me really ill..had my eyes closed the whole time..had a minor panic attack. My son and DH were sitting with me and loved it. They kept telling me to look. If I had watched a video before our trip maybe I would've known better& skipped it.
