Sorry for my long post in advance...:worship:

My question is not exactly about WDW, but I thought alot of you may have some JetBlue experiences that relate to this. I just booked a trip to Bermuda from Boston and when I was booking my hotel room, the reservations person seemed to think the non-stop from Boston to Bermuda was going to be replaced with a direct flight through New York. I was very concerned and called JetBlue twice to find out more info.

The first call was very confusing, but it sounded like the they would not do away with the non-stop but may replace the connecting flight through NY with a direct flight through NY. I didn't get a great sense of certainty in what she was saying and decided to call again.

I called again and this JetBlue rep actually called the "flight deck" (I think that is what they said) and she reported that the Boston to Bermuda non-stop flight was very popular and Jetblue would not be very likely to discontinue it. She also said if they did discontinue it, they would likely add a second direct flight and then let the non-stop phase itself out.

Okay, long post. Anyone have any comments on the information I have received. Any experiences with JetBlue that goes against what I was told?

Just on a side note, I was really happy with the Jet Blue representatives...very nice and accommodating and they really tried to get correct answers to my question. My first flight with them is in April to WDW and I am really looking forward to the experience (funny thing to say about and airline these days ;) )

Yes, JetBlue staff are generally very accommodating as they have the flexibility to respond to requests and make decisions on them based on an open corporate structure. You most likely spoke to a reservations agent who works from their home. They are able to tele-commute and do so quite well. As to the validity of anyone's statement, they are true for now... and could likely be so in the future but having worked for a number of airlines, everything is subject to change. I doubt that JetBlue would likely strip Boston of the nonstop flight to Bermuda but it can happen.

As for your upcoming flight on JetBlue to Orlando in April, you'll experience the interesting dynamics of flying on them and noticing that pilots are even dressed in the casual blue shirts with epaulets. I like the egalitarian treatment of their people and yet also realize that these pilots are very qualified to fly (witness that awry nosewheel landing in CA). I also like that seats in the rear of the plane generally have more legroom, a nice little benefit if you don't mind having to wait an extra 5 minutes to exit the airplane upon landing. What's the rush anyway... you'll still have to wait for your luggage and then car rental or whatever!?

Have fun on JetBlue, they're a good carrier and they do try their best even though sometimes the weather can screw an airline's customer service to pot! You gotta remember that if they provided everyone with a hotel room or something for cancelled flights... it'd cost them more than the price of your air ticket. Just realize that driving to a destination more than 1,000 miles isn't very cheap with gas running over $3/gallon!

Even with gasoline at $3.25 per gallon a car that averages 25 mpg can go to FL and back from NY for $300 in gas. Of course you have to add meals, hotel and tolls to that also.

Yeah, there are many other factors to consider about driving vs. flying as there are essentially 2 days taken away from your vacation if you have to drive 1,000 miles in one direction. After having driven to Florida a number of times, I finally realized that I'd much rather spend a few bucks on an airline ticket and still have some time (even with delays) at my destination as opposed to driving for nearly 24 hours and having to recuperate from the fatigue of that long drive!
