Somewhat non live blog of 9/3 sailing

Cat 5 something? Maybe 5E. Not 100% sure. We originally booked a 4A extended balcony but the Disney called me a few weeks ago to let me know the room was down for repair. They found this as an alternative for me and we have it a shot. We do not regret it.

The balcony is super hot in afternoon. Back from Castaway and there is no shade. But we plan to use it tonight after dinner.

After I posted, I looked it up on the deck plans. Silly me for not looking there first. Yes it is 5E. Great balcony space!

Another poster inquired about the # of passengers onboard. We sailed a 3-nt last weekend (Aug 27-30) and our dining room server knew the passenger numbers of each sailing. She told us that our cruise had 1600 but earlier sailings were around 1000.
We had a similar experience of zero competition for any chairs, tables, space in the pools, etc. Our children are grown and didn't cruise with us so we have no idea how the kids clubs were. We watched both fireworks shows from our balcony, :cloud9: :lovestruc the 2nd one in my nightgown.

So @jrapps can you ask your dining room server how many passengers are onboard? Thanks and have a great time!!!

I thought it was extremely expensive to buy their WiFi?

If you sign up the first day you can get a small package for free - and we did an 8 day with just the free package - basically I turned it on just to check one or two websites, plus download email. So if jrapps is only posting here with a few pictures, he shouldn't run out of data. Too many pictures though will kill the data.

With airplane mode on, you can still be connected to the ship's wi-fi and use the Disney app only. Same as on an airplane - you're in airplane mode but can use United's app - or American's, depending on the plane.

Morning. Back in paradise. Hopefully the weather is better today. I was going to enjoy my balcony again this morning but we woke up to find it saturated! A nice morning rain shower. Fine with me, get it all out now hopefully.

So I asked guest services, official guest count for this sailing was 1,579 guests and 1,259 crew. I would have guessed less from how uncrowded everything felt.

Last night was an interesting mix of people dressed in either pirate or Halloween costumes. It was all over the map, but so much fun. Kids of "all ages" dressed up.

Speaking of Halloween, no merchandise at all. I asked and they said it was delayed, so future cruises will get to buy it but no idea when.

I wasn't sure if I mentioned but we had no issues getting more time in the Oceaneers club for my son. After we got onboard, they're were plenty of additional slots available. He went for 1.5hrs before and after dinner each night. Scuttles Cove was also open on the island but we didn't use it.

I am loving your reports! I really am confused on using your cell phone, tho. I thought it was extremely expensive to buy their WiFi? And airport mode…never understood that.
Tmobile had free international data roaming. When I'm the Bahama I get internet. As soon as the ship pulls into Castaway the on ship cell repeater must hook into Bahamas telecom because it switched form "Cellular ar Sea" which is super expensive to "BTS" which is free for T-Mobile users.

The tower on the island itself is still down, at least for me, so I only have internet on the ship itself, not on the beach.

Yeah I didn't even bother with the free 50mb this time. Somehow my phone burns they that with background data in 10 min on every cruise.

The fireworks were nice. A short show as expected but they did a good job. They're was plenty of space again for people. Everyone stood on one of the blue marker dots and about a third of them were still empty when the show began. They did have a dance party afterwards

Can you let us know how the trick or treating works and most importantly…CAN THE ADULTS GET CANDY?? :flower:

Thanks this is getting me hyped up for my cruise in October!
On my last cruise they would not give me candy and said it was only for the kids. I made a post on the forums and it seemed like it was a YMMV situation. I was better off inquiring at guest services because I received 2 candy bags in my stateroom.

I will gladly take 2 fully stocked candy bags though as reported by Jrapps. :woohoo:

Enjoying breakfast at Cabanas with my son. Trying my best NOT to eat since we have Palo brunch in an hour. No mickey waffles or donuts. They have the usual stuff. My son is enjoying a chocolate chip pancake that is definitely more chocolate than pancake.

They have those little Mexican hot pockets..I think I'm the only one that loves those. LOL. Eggs. Pastries. Yogurts. Fruit. Sliced meats and cheeses. Hot ham and cheese croissant. Oatmeal. Grits.

Is the omelet bar open?

So this is a first for me...dining Palo Brunch with a view of Castaway!

Having trouble uploading photos. Might have to save the uploads for tomorrow
