Our very close DVC traveling friends sent me a text message today wanting to know what could be going on at WDW for there not to be room available the first week of December. I explained that points are low, crowds are fairly low and Christmas decorations are up and that it is a very popular time for DVCers. I guess I'm just used to Disboard fanatics like myself that realize which times are hard to get and which aren't, but if you wait this late there are probably very few times in the year when you can get a room with such short notice.

It is hard to believe that other people don't know all this! It's like what I tell people when I teach math... Its in English!!

Some people will always think that going to Disney World is like going to Vegas.... There will always be rooms. Not the case. You would think a DVCer should know this!

I have dear friends who have been DVC members for 5 years now. In fact, they're the ones who convinced us to buy into DVC earlier this year. My friend isn't on the Internet much even though I have recommended disboards to her. Now, I can't imagine not spending each and every moment online and connected but to each their own. :)

You can imagine my surprise when she told me they were planning on staying at BLT December 4th thru 10th this year.

:confused:

They own SSR.

:laughing: :rotfl2:

She was planning on calling Member Services around mid-day at the 7-month window or whenever she got around to doing it.

:rotfl::lmao:

I tried to warn her but she figured they're be *plenty* of rooms since this was the low-point season for DVC. She was mightily surprised that not only was BLT completely and utterly booked, so was every other DVC property save for SSR. She was also very surprised at how hard it was for her to get her ADR's. They've never been to WDW during the holiday season. Lesson learned.

I agree, what use to be the best kept secret is now no more. We have been staying at a DVC resort the first two weeks in December since 1995. It's a great time to visit with the low crowds, decorations and it also gets you in the Holiday spirit. For December we only book our home resort taking advantage of our 11 month window. I learned very early on that if your looking for a particular resort at a particular time you need to book as early as possible or there may not be "any room at the Inn."

I have a friend who owns DVC and she hardly ever comes over to the boards. I know so much more about the ins and outs of owning DVC. DVC is a big financial commitment (at least for our family). I can't imagine not being aware of as much as I could.

My friends have been DVC members longer than we have as well, they aren't quite as obsessed as I am though!

It's not just DVC - there are very few WDW rooms that week. That's always been a popular week to stay onsite. Plus Pop Warner takes up alot of rooms. There have been alot of recent threads on the resorts board asking why there are no rooms. Everyone thinks they can just call anytime they want and there will be a room at any resort.
