Just wanted to share a pic with you Kimmy. This is me and Madison a few minutes after she was born. It's a pic of a pic, so sorry if the quality isn't so good!

0083.jpg

I had to be induced so I went to the hospital around 8pm on Oct 14th. I never even needed any pitocin because Madison arrived at 7:04am on Oct 15th! Her due date was Oct 8th and she was 8 lbs! At my baby shower's, everyone had guessed the baby would be around 6 or 7 lbs. WRONG!

Uh, oh! Your picture is gone!

Aww, Kimmy! Thanks for sharing all those pictures with us! Happy Belated Birthday to Landon. Looks like he had a wonderful 1st Birthday! That video you made for his birthday was precious. That's so neat that you have all that and put it together. I'm with the other girls, though--I do not want to know what I looked like in labor!

Thanks!! I was hoping the Broncos would win for his birthday. You can bet I tell EVERYONE that they won the night he was born...such a coincidence too, since it was one of the first Thursday night games and they were playing!

Mitchell came about ten days early. It was Christmas Eve and I had worked the day before and was looking forward to a day off. DH had to work a half day and I was just lazing around in the bed and I needed to use the bathroom. As soon as I sat down, I knew I was in labor. So I called the dr. and called DH and they said to keep an eye out for contractions and water breaking. DH didn't come home right away b/c he was at work already - an hour away. He didn't think I was in labor and all of his guy friends were telling him if I was in labor, I'd know it and then first babies always come LATE. I was mad, so I stayed at hom counting contractions.

The longer the day went the more miserable I became. DH came home and I convinced him to take me to the hospital. I had called the dr. and they were waiting for me. DH was ill b/c he just figured he'd take me all the way to the hospital, only to have to come right back home. It was Christmas Eve, so not an ideal way to spend your holiday. Well, in the car, those contractions starting coming about four minutes apart and I was hollering at him to run every red light he could! We get to the hospital, and some dumb woman asks if I'm in labor in the elevator. I know how you felt, Kimmy! I wanted to punch her lights out for asking such a stupid question!

I was four centimeters dialated when we got there and bleeding like crazy! The put me in triage to watch me for a couple of hours, gave me a shot in the rear end for the pain, and two hours later I was 6 centimeters dialated. They RUSHED me to the delivery room, gave me my epidural, and two hours later, my sweet boy came into the world. Half an hour before Christmas Day. It was an easy delivery. He was 6 lbs. 14 oz.

And I had not one speck of makeup on my face, my contacts had long since been in my eyes (pregnancy dried my eyes out) and so I had to wear my ugly old glasses, and my face was so swollen and fat looking! It was horrid. I hate the pictures of me following the birth. :crazy2:

But if I had known about it, I, like you, would have been well prepared with make up and hair - the works! You really did look beautiful and now you have lovely pictures that you can share. And I'm sure you're right - the nurses have probably heard way worse than that in the maternity ward! :rotfl: Funny story - thanks for sharing that!

What a beautiful story!! Not all first babies come late though!! What are your DH's co-workers thinking?! I've known TONS who have come early!! You know the whole time I was pregnant, I wanted to go as natural as possible but then my doctor came and she didn't want me to go more than a week past my due date and I decided to just get induced that night instead of waiting, I can't even explain how it came over me. I wasn't even tired of being pregnant, just felt the urge to have the baby. It worked out though becuase right after my brother came home and that would have just sent me over the edge emotionally for it.

The story of that woman in the elevator seriously cracked me up!! Some people!! It reminds me of another story where I wanted to punch someone in the face. :rotfl: I was leaving and I realized I had forgotten something for Landon's birthday certificate and I told the nurse who was escorting us out and she was like "Do you want to just run back up and check with them and we'll wait here?" And I said yeah, then she was like "OR we could all go back up there?" And I was just like whatever is fine. And then she was like "OR you and me can go back up while they get the car?" And I was like "I really don't care, let's just do something instead of going over every possible option!" She was really annoying me.

I'm glad Mitchell was such an easy delivery!! Landon was too. We both got really lucky I guess! :goodvibes And not just with the deliveries ;)

I'm kinda glad looking back now that I had time to prepare so I looked decent! I was always TERRIFIED that my water would break or something at work, because I work at a car dealership with almost exclusively men!! That would've been awkward!!

I can't see the picture!! Definitely repost it though if you can because I'd love to see it!!

Goodness, I can't imagine how big Landon would've gotten if he was a week late like Madison! He was only a day late and he was 8lbs 7oz!! I love big babies though...so cute!!

Hey Kimmy!

Those pictures of Landon are SO CUTE!! What a loved and special little boy he is. He just looks so happy and peaceful - love it!!

And I love the birthday pictures as well - there's something so neat about seeing little kids just tear into that cake and all that sugar. :goodvibes

Have a great day!

I guess DH getting his advice from a bunch of MEN who've never given birth was part of the reason I was so mad at him! :rotfl: I wanted to ask him, "and how many babies has Philip had?" and "how many babies did Mr. Rose give birth to?" :rotfl2:

HE was looking out for you in regard to your brother and your decision to have your baby when you did. :goodvibes

Yeah, the lady in the elevator. I can barely stand up and I'm big as a house and she wants to know if I'm in labor. My DH was nice - he just said, "that's what we're about to find out." I just looked at her like she was the dumbest person in the world. Normally I am very kind, but I was NOT feeling kind that day!

Too funny about the nurse. By the time she had finished going over all of the options, you could have already had what you needed and been out the door!

Hey!! Thanks!! He's a pretty peaceful little guy all the time! I love it!!

He really enjoyed all that sugar!! I couldn't have done it...especially all that icing! (Not to mention that some of it was black for the checker-flag part.)

How funny. I would yell at guys all the time at work who would give me advice who have NEVER had kids. They'd be like "but my wife has" and I'd be like its one thing to look at a car and a whole other thing to drive it buddy!

HE really did look out for me!! It worked out. I'm hoping next time I can go into labor spontaneously and have a better coach. I had friends there and they were just in shock (:rotfl: I can only imagine what good birth control that experience was!) and my mom was just not the person I wanted there in that way. I mean, I'm glad I have her support but she's just doesn't have a strong enough personality. She's really quiet and shy. I don't know if you heard in the video, but at the end of my pushing, you can hear me tell her "You're not a very good leg pusher". :rotfl: We always crack up when we hear that part!

I was so irritated with that nurse. And then she starts telling us signs of postpartum depression and she was like "sometimes it doesn't look like depression, its intense irritability and being easily angered" and then my parents were all worried and I'm like "sorry I'm irritable when people are stupid!" :lmao: Any other day I wouldn't have minded but I was SO ready to get out that hospital!

I didn't hear what you said to your mom - how funny! I may have to go back and take a listen.

You should have told your parents - it's not post partum - it's stupidphobia!
