It pays!

Our washing machine is 11 years old and not my favorite appliance. We figured it was time to replace it. I did my research and figured out that we wanted the Fisher Paykel.
Those things rarely are on sale, and when they are, it is only 10%.

I would check at Lowe's every time I went to the store (about 6 times) for some type of clearance. I finally found one yesterday. It's listed price is $599. Someone had bought one and then decided they didn't want it, so it is brand new. Full warranty and free delivery..... $436! Glad I waited!:cool1:

Now I have to do the same thing for a refrigerator! Wish me luck!!!

I agree.

We got our washer the same way. Dh is "always" checking out the discounted appliances. There was a washer there that someone bought and brought it back because it had a dent in the back of it. It was originally $758 and it had a price tag of $325. Dh asked the department salesperson how much he could buy it for and the guy said, "Let me ask the manager." He came back and asked, "How's $200 sound?" :scared1:

Needless to say, we went home with a new washer that day. :yay:

:goodvibes Not to rain on your parade or anything but my friend just had to replace her Fisher Paykel and it wasnt very old. I know nothing about washers but just thought your post was funny cos I had never heard of that brand until she was complaining about it yesterday!

Wow, great deal! My SIL has one & loves it as far as I know. That was a brand we almost bought too & have seen lots of great reviews. Hope that replacement was just a bad machine.

For us we usually use something until it breaks down... or until it's so old that the newer models are worth getting popcorn::

Congrats on the great deal you got :cheer2:

We own a Fisher and Paykel washer and love it. We bought ours because my sister owns one and they love theirs. Neither of us has had any problems or concerns. You got a great deal. Enjoy it and don't be shocked by the difference in the sound of this washer. It sort of sounds like a plane engine when it starts and stops the spin cycle. Very different than a regular washer but it spins your clothes very efficiently so that you should have a much shorter dry time. It also uses a lot less water than a normal washer.

Ditto, DM got one a while before we needed a new one, I ALMOST enjoyed the times I had to take our laundry over there and got to use hers. Wish we had similiar luck with pricing but oh, well, love it anyway! The sound sort of freaked me out at first too, thankfully she had warned me also. ENJOY!:goodvibes

I have had my Fisher Paykel washer for 5.5 years without a single problem. It does sound very different but you get used to it. I loooovvveee the soak cycle.

My much older sister bought one because we were so pleased with ours. She loves it too.

Now, if I could get rid of my 6 yr old side by side Kitchenaid fridge. I hate side by sides. This is the 3rd time we have had problems with the ice maker too.

I've had mine for 4 years and it's doing an average of 2 loads a day, and also does my king size comforter! I LOVE IT!! Never any problems...and it makes the nicest sounds...my mom always mentions it when she visits...it sounds like a hummmm, but not noisy, just pleasant. I'm still waiting for my dryer to die, so I can get the matching set! I posted a review on epinions or some such website after getting it what i said then still stands true!

My hubby likes to keep things until they no longer work or cant be fixed cheap.
I would love to have a new washer and dryer! But, alas, Maytag's really do last. My set is 20+ years old and still works great! darn it! (I should be knocking on wood!)

I read the funniest review of this washer on Epinions! The guy was a hoot. He was so funny that I even looked up his other opinions just for a laugh! He loved it also. In fact, his opinion won me over.

I lucked out. I had a charitable organization that needs washing machines that I can donate my still-working-nothing-wrong machine to. I wanted the new one to be able to wash my comforter at home and save some water. Win Win!
