With so much negativity around here lately, I figured now was a good time to make this thread.

I'm 19, and have been to Disney World and Disneyland many times in my life, starting at age 1, you could basically say I've been raised (or brainwashed ;)) Disney. As a "grown up child" who is the product of being around all things Disney basically all her life, THANK YOU to all you parents out there. You may think your children won't remember the vacations, especially when they're young, but trust me they do and they will appreciate every little bit you guys put into these Disney trips.

It doesn't matter to them where you stay or if you've got all your ideal ADRs, they're going to look back and remember the trips fondly whether or not you were able to eat the mushroom filet with pretzel bread (although it is delicious ). My point is, your children will remember these vacations whether or not you get a magical upgrade, or all your planning goes right. Don't stress about all the details, just remember it's all about having an amazing time with your family, and maybe not right away but one day your kids will thank you!

Well Said!! I'm 23 year old and I still remember going to Disney World when I was itty bitty! That's all that matters in the long run is all the great memories you get to cherish later on. :)

Sniffle. That's the sweetest ever! :lovestruc

morethananyonex, that was beautifully written and I can tell, it comes straight from the heart :lovestruc Your parents must be very proud of you :thumbsup2 Thanks for the inspiring and upbeat post :goodvibes

Thank You !

You not only give us veteran parents hope and inspiration...

You give GOOD advice to young parents....that it doesn't have to be PERFECT!:lmao:

Don't you know it's the imperfections that we mainly remember and laugh about ! As well as all the MAGICAL things.....:wizard:

Hugs to you,
Mary

Well said! I am the product of parents who "Disney" and now I have the privilege to raise my children the same way. I know there were meltdowns in my last vacation with my kids to Disney but they truly don't remember them. They remember the songs we sang and the fun stuff we did. Thanks for the reality check!

I second this....I am 35 and I still remember my first time going to Disney as a kid (back in the 80s). I definitely have many fond memories as a kid at WDW....Thank you so much for this post.

As the Dad of two "Disney kids" (12 and 10) who has taken the family to WDW numerous times, I really appreciate your post. It captures my vacationing philosophy to a T.

OP, the gift of encouragement is shining through you! :thumbsup2

I completely agree with everything you said. As a child I was not taken on many vacations except for a few camping trips. As an adult this will be my 4th trip to WDW and my 3rd with the kids. One of my greatest memories is of my last trip 5 years ago. I was able to convince my parents to come with me. I know they truly enjoyed it and they got the chance to see their grandkids there.

Don't forget though this is a place for everyone to express ideas, tips and even gripes about WDW. WDW and DL are magical and happy places but sometimes folks do not have a good time for one reason or the other. They have the right to express those things here on the Dis.So long as Dis guide lines are followed everyone is welcome here. That is what I like the best about the Dis is the that we give our board members the right to freely express thier thoughts even grumpy posts can help our fellow board members in planning a WDW experience.:goodvibes:goodvibes Danny

You are so right. We started taking our kids to WDW when they were young and they still talk about there those trips. We did everything on the spur of the moment back then ( no Dis Boards then ). We took the whole family back this past march and it was as fun as ever. It was our Grandson's first trip. So for all those who strees about things just go and have a magical time. Use the boards here as a guideline and to help you navigate WDW a little better but don't stress if everything does not go perfect.

What a wonderful post!! I think all people regarless if they have children or not should remember your words. I love the DIS board because people can express opinions. I have a new rule for myself, if a post is negative about Disney for a valid reason (lost reservation, unclean room, etc.) I read it. If the post is about not getting a free room upgrade or free meal because it is your birthday, I don't read it. I have better things to do with my time.

As a Type A Commando Planner taking my kids on their fourth WDW trip next week and STRESSING over it, I really appreciate your kind words. :)

My single Mom could not afford to take my brother and I when I was little so I didn't get to experience the World until I was nearly 30 :sad2:
My children are lucking out with their 'newly' Disney addicted Mom who can't seem to stay away :rotfl:

Seriously, I have planned more downtime and 'kid's choice' periods into our plan this time. I learned from experience that 7 and 4 year olds can't keep up the pace that I am wanting to set :goodvibes
