Next weekend about 85 miles from Hilton Head, there will be a Re-enactment and Living History Day at Broxton Bridge Plantation where the battle for the Salkehatchie River between the Union troops of Sherman's march through the Carolinas skirmished with Confederates for Broxton Bridge Ford on February 2, 1865. The battles will occur on the Salkehatchie River where the original breastworks have been undisturbed for years.
