Something special happening Sept 23-24?

Based on another thread that said the DLR hotels had lowered the rates in Sept and that Labor Day weekend was sold out, I went over to see what kind of a deal could be had.

Along with Labor Day, I noticed at PPH that Sept 23-24 were also sold out. Anyone know why? Is there a convention in town? Out of state school break?

We are scheduled to be at the parks Sept 22-23, but maybe should switch to Sept 21-22....

We'll be there that same week, there is a D23 Event, Destination D, that will be held at the DLH on Sept 24-25. That could have something to do with it.

Destination D: Disneyland '55 is that weekend on Friday and Saturday.

We will be there at that time too. Even the HoJo seems to be close to full. I don't think they have released tickets to Destination D and prices yet and I hear it is for only 1500 people. Maybe a lot more have reserved hotel rooms but will end up canceling if they are not able to get tickets to the event.

Yep..and if they EVER flipping let us know WHEN WE CAN BUY TICKETS and we know if we can even GET tickets we can firm up plans.....sheesh.
BTW..those dates at DLH on hotels.com was pretty reasonable. We booked a hotel already, but am a little tempted to change to DLH.

There's an event the preceding weekend and we have plenty of tickets for those worried about the d23 55 anniversary - the 1313 club is hosting an evening at the DL Hotel on Sept 18 to celebrate audio-animatronics which will feature a number of Disney legends. We're the group that previously had the Golden Horseshoe event -- a very memorable evening. Here's a link for more details:
