something romantic?

My 21-year-old son and his girlfriend, both university students, are joining us at WDW in early December for my birthday. They'll only be there three days, but would like some ideas about something romantic and different they could do together. They do already have a late dinner booked at California Grill one evening and hope to be able to watch Wishes from there. As students, they don't have much money. Anyone have some inexpensive ideas for something fun and romantic that they could do?

How about sticking around MK at closing time for the goodnight kiss?

Awww... I was going to say the carriage ride! :rotfl:

One of my (22) favorite things with my fiancee (24) on our last trip was just a walk around Downtown Disney in the evening. It wasn't a really busy day... it was dark and there were lots of 'street lights'... we just investigated the area. Didn't go to Pleasure Island. But, there just seemed to be lots to see. We also had dinner at Wolfgang Puck's which isn't necessary but we continued to walk down the path there that was really pretty and secluded. Holding hands. It was just a really nice nite. :earsgirl:

Hubby & I took a carriage ride for 2 at Fort Wilderness on our 5th Wedding Anniversary in May. It was $30 & the driver brought us Gingerale to "toast" with. It was very nice & we did this one evening prior to our California Grill ressie - it was a great anniversary!!

have him try to see if they can share a cruise ride for illuminations or wishes, theres normally some disers who post the dates here who will share the boat excursion & cost, otherwise its $140 but the fireworks cruises are so romantic! 407-wdw-play.

or have them head to the polynesian, you can lounge in a hammock on the beach & watch the electrical water pagaent & the mk fireworks in the distance, free & romantic!

eating & strolling world showcase at epcot or the boardwalk at night, both are romantic with great ambiance.

we also like the hayride $8 & campfire sing along at ft wilderness more fun, but a worth while excursion.

I agree with strolling World Showcase at Epcot. It even brings out the romance in my definately NOT romantic hubby. There's just something Magical about WS.....

But, really, I have to say that a couple of 21 year olds in Love in WDW are going to find soooo many things romantic - even just snuggling on the monorail to the Park becomes an event when you're young & in love. Even this old married couple finds romance in the simplest things when we're there.

Another vote for the carriage ride at POR. The evening sky with the sound of the clip-clop is SOOO romantic and relaxing.

I have two suggestions.

1. Carriage ride at either POR of FW.
2. Dinner at Tony's Town Square near the statue of Landy and the Tramp.

Have them see if they can ride the front car of the monorail on the way to their dinner, if it's not too crowded. It's a short ride, but beautiful at night.

We also like to walk around at night at our resort, if you stay away from the pool areas it's usually quiet and peaceful, and you can enjoy some alone time and theming.

I find the Jazz Club at PI very romantic.

I also like the Rose Garden at MK.

Thank you! I will pass these great ideas on to my son. We are actually staying at Port Orleans Riverside so the carriage ride might be a good option for them.

my boyfriend (26) and i (23) always love to have a romantic walk round the epcot world showcase at night, its lovely and you feel like the only people there
we have also booked the illuminations cruise which will be great

Romance and Disney ~ perfect! So many great suggestions already and I'm thinking about setting up that carriage ride for me and my hubby when we're there in December! I've never done that but it sounds awesome. If one of the nights they're there has EMH at EPCOT, a lovely evening would be to enjoy Wishes at MK (what could be better than cuddling with your sweetheart to songs like that with that view?), take the monorail over to EPCOT (extra bonus in December enjoying the Christmas decorations from above) and stroll the World Showcase nice and late at night ... less people, more romantic ... stopping in for snacks or dessert ... glass of wine, an espresso, the lights, the music.
