Well, I can't call it hybrid, because that means digital and paper, so Blended it is!
I even got brave and posted it on 2 peas, so you can look at a sample, if you've got a mind to.

Then you can read the blathering here . . .
We went on a spring trip. Like always, I took WAY too many photos. Along the way - in Shipshewana Indiana, to be exact, I found a package of divided page protectors - that hold 4 x6 photos - 6 of 'em on each side. Time to put into practice what I recommended someone else do for her Disney album.

ONE WEEK later, 58 page album - about 38 "scrapped pages" and 20 photoalbum pages interspersed. It was FUN!

I will probably *NOT* go back to 100% scrapped albums for "project" albums like vacations.

Only for albums that are compilations of individual 'topics' will every page be scrapped.

Do you think you'll try a 'blended' for yourself?

Thanks for sharing your album and idea. I really liked it. You were about 10 minutes from my home when you were at Indiana Dunes. Next time, let me know :)

I wish I'd though of that before I finally did our disney albums. There were lots of postcards and such I would have loved to see the backs of.
will definately be putting this in the idea notebook.

Yes! Before I really got into scrapping, I used to use some 3-ring albums Halmark carried that had 3 kinds of pages - 4 (4x6) slots, 5 (3x5)s, or single (9x12)s. I was mostly just putting pics in slots back then, but would sometimes "scrap" a few 9x12 page, and it was fun.

Yours is a way more advanced version, and I love the journaling on the slot pages and the postcards! It definitely makes me want to try it.

(And I'm on here today specifically because I need inspiration, so thank you!)

Great job! I saw those folders for the first time a month ago and was intrigued. Thanks for posting actual results!

Now here is the funny part, I was in Shipshewana yesterday and I was reading the DIS this morning while eating a Cinnamon Bun which I purchased yesterday. Good karma! And today I head down to South Bend to get my daughter from camp -- so it was great seeing your Notre Dame pics as well.

I hope you enjoyed your trip.

I LOVE this idea! I am just starting up scrapping a HUGE (photo-wise) 10 day trip we took in 2005 and I am DREADING how long this album will probably take me. Maybe I will consider doing a blended album! Thanks for the thought!................P

Very cool Linda!! It's really similar to the picfolio album from CM. It's the album that I'm using for my 365 album.

Two OUTSTANDING Scrapbook stores in your area - Aunt Millie's Scrapyard in the Emporium building in Shipshewana, and Pieces of time (Pages of time?) in Granger, outside of South Bend. Just WONDERFUL.

I did a huge album for a 6 week trip last year - only allowed one spread for each state and photoshopped most of the photos to 2x3. First of all - that was sufficient for Delaware - which we just drove through - and not enough for North Carolina where we spent 4 days. If I'd thought of this method then, I'd have had space for all the full size photos I wanted, saved time photochopping, and had more fun with the album. NOW, I'm thinking about going back and printing the photos I missed to put in album pages between the scrapped ones - even if I have to split the trip into two albums.

Buffy, it IS similar to the picfolio - and that would be a good option for people who like to scrap with CM albums. Can you insert full size layout pages as well?

Thanks for looking!

I did that for someone's wedding pictures a couple of years ago. It was great being able to get 6 pics per page side for guest shots and then having the special moments scrapped and given more attention.

The album/scrapbook still ended up being 154 pages! :scared1:

I love the album, Linda! I really like the idea of combining full 12x12 sheets with the pockets.

I love hearing about all your travels too! That is exactly what DH and I talk about doing when we retire. Only about 25 years to go! :faint:

25 years will pass before you know it - and the time to start preparing is now! I wish we'd been smarter with money while we were young. So much of the stuff we acquired then is totally meaningless now, but we sure could use the money we spent on the stuff we don't need, lol.

NEE, if you REALLY want to read about the travels - I've written a trip report, but never posted it anywhere - I'd email it to an interested friend, though ;-)

For the most part, DH and I are on the same page on that - we're not into spending money on "things" as much as experiences (except for tools for him and scrap supplies for me :rolleyes1.) I know you've been working on house projects too - that's HIS fantasy. The road trip for me, the new kitchen for him. (Can't understand why - neither one of us spends any significant amount of time in there! :rotfl:)

I'd definitely be interested in your trip report (for any of those road trips you took!). Do you still have my email address?

Linda, love the blended scraping idea. I am in the process of doing both myself. This years album for DD will have both. Lately it has been more convenient to do digi scrapping but I still want to do traditional scrapping too. It's the best of both worlds. :goodvibes

Your album looks gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. :)

Great job. I had actually thought of trying this but have never gotten around to it. I'll have to look into the album. We're heading out for our next Disney trip soon and I haven't finished scrapping our last 2 trips yet.

Uh, yes, that is what I have been wanting to do w/ mine.. I'm like you take tons and tons of photos... where did you get the 6 - 4x6 and what brand... I so need them! :)

Great work!!
Didn't you love the beautiful artwork of Jesus on the side of the building at Notre Dame.. I couldn't find it when I marched w/ the IU band in college..came out the end zone and you could here the entire band go "WHEW!" It was the most amazing sight!!!
Did you get to go up on Mount Baldy @ the Dunes?

NEE, I probably do have your email addy, but pm me again, will you? My memory is short!

Nancy, my husband calls that mosaic irreverently the "Touch down Jesus" because you can see it from the stadium AND it looks like he is signaling a TD. I thought the whole place was wonderful.

DH climbed Mt baldy, but I have trouble walking in the sand, so I stayed at the car with the Teddys. We did do the steps down to the beach at another place and that was it for me.

The divided protectors were from Pebbles inc, and I got them from The scrapyard, in Shipshewana - without knowing quite what I was going to do with them! Now, I wish I'd bought 4 packs. We don't have an LSS here, and i'm blowing through materials at a great rate.

I'll have to look online for them..and make sure I put a note in my wallet..
Yes, "Touch Down Jesus" is what they all call him.. I remember that now that you mention it! I'll have to look thru my photos and see if I have a photo of it.. if not than we will be driving north to get some more photos... last time we were up there to visit ND my DS8 wasn't born...and DS13 was about 4 or so! LOL

well, if you go up for more photos - you can pop over to either Granger or Shipshewana really easily, and the divided protectors will be yours! That granger store is VERY dangerous, lol
