During our trip in a couple of weeks, my 9 year-old is going to DisneyQuest with Dad one day for about 5 hours or so. Any ideas for my almost-6-year old and I? We are lucky enough to be there for a full week this time, so we are already planning days at each park.

Just thought someone might have a creative idea for me. :sunny:

Thanks for any input!

Tons of ideas - almost more than for a 9yo!!

If cost isn't an issue try bibbidi boutique (sorry on the sp) at downtown disney. She can have hair and makeup done and if you like complete it with a princess gown - yours or one you purchase there.

You can do a mom & me princess meal, nside the parks at CRT in MK or the Norway meal in Epcot or outside the park at 1900 Park Fare

There is also tea with Alice at GF but that would be solo - no parents. My dd's did this at 6 and 8yo and LOVED it.

You could hit a favorite park and just do what she wants including rides, meals or treats, either of my kids would like that alot.

If you give an idea of her likes and dislikes and what you already have planned I am sure you will get lots of great ideas -

This is going to be a fun thread - I can't wait to read your responses.

eta - I thought I read your 6yo was a dd but now I see that wasn't stated. If your 6yo is a boy the pirate cruise is fun (for girls too) but again just kids no mom. Or you could rent the sea racers with him (or her). I think a morning at a water park would be fun for that age, esp if its all about what he/she wants to do.

Downtown Disney ice cream and the lego store if it is a boy. Any pool time is always fun! There is so much to see at the resorts so it depends on where you are staying... There are fishing trips, the petting farm at Fort Wilderness. Disney Quest is also cool to see for all ages. If she is a girl all the above ideas are great. And of course SHOPPING !! Lots of the resorts have hidden mickey hunts. enjoy your time together Have Fun!!

If you have a daughter there are lots of good possibilities. Less for a boy unfortunately. I did see a boy with the cool dude hair cut from BBB. It looked pretty cool with the colored gel and a gel mickey in the back of their hair.

You could always offer to take them shopping at Downtown Disney. Not the cheapest option, but the fill your own (ponies, potato head, pirate chest) are really cool. And the Lego store is fun for playing around in.

Sorry! Both are girls -forgot to put that in the original post!! princess:

I don't know if your budget will allow it, but my sister and I took my 4.5 yo DD to the GF for the Perfectly Pricess Tea party. It was wonderful! First they introduced all the little girls by "Princess XXX" and crowned them, then escorted them to their table. At the table they each found a My Disney Girl doll dressed as Aurora. The host of the tea party is Rose Petal, Aurora's friend, and she tells stories and sings and entertains throughout. Then they open thier napkins to find a charm bracelet. Tea (apple juice) is served along with tea sandwiches and grapes and Rose Petal continues to entertain and bring the children into the show. Aurora makes an appearance toward dessert time and they all dance with her and take pictures. It was a great time and my DD loved it! She was in awe and a little overwhelmed, that's why I think your DD is the perfect age! My parents paid for it for us, so I am not positive of the cost but I think it is around $200 for one adult and one child. Also all but 2 little girls were dressed in princess dresses. So if your DD would feel out of place, I would recommend dressing her up.

You could also go play mini-golf at Winter/Summerland or Fantasia Gardens. I think you can also get ice-cream there.

There is also the big movie theatre right at Downtown Disney near Disney Quest ...if there is anything interesting playing.

Ride the monorail and get off at the Poly, GF, and Contemporary hotels to explore and have lunch or ice/cream.

None of these require a park ticket.

Are they going to Disney Quest in the evening? If so, I recommend the Campfire Sing-Along with Chip & Dale at Fort Wilderness. It is free, though you can buy s'mores kits w/ 2 sticks for less than $5. If she watches Barney, she'll know the songs. The sing-along is followed by an outdoor movie, which is fun. See: www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-campfire.html

The Garden View Lounge (I think that's the name) also does afternoon tea that isn't the fancy $200 tea. "Mrs. Potts Tea - For the younger tea lover in your party, we offer a variety of tea sandwiches, tuna salad, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly on white bread. We serve our magical dark tea (chocolate milk), followed by a choice of 2 pastries $8.50 per guest" source: www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_gft.htm

Go to the Boardwalk and get a hairwrap and rent a surreybike (again, best in evening).

On our last trip, we rented one of the little Sea Racer boats at Downtown Disney. They're also available at the other marinas. They don't really go fast but my 9 year old had such a great time.

You used to be able to rent swan shaped paddleboats at the Swan resort - I don't know if they are still available but that looked fun to me.

A carriage ride or the hayride at Ft. Wilderness might be fun: See: www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-horses.html

The Grand Floridian has a free Lady Bug release in the courtyard behind 1900 Park Fare on Thursday mornings.

We did a similiar thing this yr. DD10 did DIsney Quest w/Ddad and DD (newly turned 6) and I did BBB.
I should of done BBB w/both DD's because DD10 thought it was just great she loved the attn. and all the goodies DD6 got. She's wasn't envious of her ygr sister, it's just BBB is a real girly thing to do, even if your DD is a (tomboy) like my DD10.

We were able to go to DIsney this Sept., I asked my DD's if they would rather do MNSSHHP or BBB. They both decided they would rather do BBB.
They gave up free candy. :confused3

If you plan to do BBB. I would do it w/both DD's.

Have a great time!!! Your DD9 will love DQ.

Thanks for the suggestions! It sounds like BBB is a popular choice; and some of the others I hadn't even thought about. Just have to look at the budget and go from there. :goodvibes
