As a mother of a little boy that travels to Disney all the time, I have one suggestion for parents in the same situation. Most of the gear is aimed at little girls. They are always princess costumes and the like no matter where you look. The one thing I always do with my son is take him to the Bibbidi Boppidi Boutique and get him the Cool Dude hairstyle. I think it's something overlooked since again, it's aimed at girls. It only costs $7.50 and his hair is spiked and glitter and paint are decorated on top. He also gets a mickey head painted on the back of his head. He loves it and enjoys all the compliments he gets for the rest of the day. It's a cheap treat for him that makes him feel special all day.

I have seen pictures of this- very cute- and had no idea it was so inexpensive!

I think my son would love this! Is it something I should have a reservation for? Thanks

Great idea! Is this in Downtown Disney? Do you have any pictures you are willing to share?

You can also have this done at the barber shop on Main St in the Magic Kingdom. My son had it done last year after his haircut and it was super cute.

There's one in Downtown Disney as well as Cinderella's castle in the MK. I have pictues but I have no clue how to post them up since they aren't on a site to link to!

I just want to add that one thing that I do for DS (5) (who has a big sister and loves to play dress-up) is to go order a cheap Halloween costume from Disney outlet - I think I just paid $12.99 for Peter Pan. He always sees his sister getting lots of compliments and wants to be just like her. They had Jack Sparrow, Captain Hook, etc... Especially for little boys who see big sister getting all the attention this has really helped us. :) I will even add the hair in this year!

Can anyone please post a picture of this haircut? I think my DS5 might be interested but he wants to see a picture first.

I'm unable to post a picture, I need 10 posts first I believe. We had his haircut and the fairy dust, and the gel mickey head done. I want to say the total cost was less than 15 dollars. I know you can go in and just get the dust/gel though. Just get there very early, the barber shop is small and they don't take appointments.

Disney really could be making a lot more money, if they would make some costumes for the boys.

I could see a lot of mother's buying little Prince outfits for their 2 and under boys. I'm sure some would even buy them for their boys that are over 2.

There should be some costumes for the boys at the parks-they do have some for Halloween at the Disney Store and online but that's not the same, as parents have to purchase at certain times and then bring them with them.

I totally agree and ask everytime I go why they don't have more boy costumes. My son would love to dress up and he's 5. I feel bad telling him there aren't any costumes for him. I just hope that at some point things change, just not before he's too old to want to dress up!

And we LOVED the Pirate (& Princess) Party! There were a lot of Princesses there but equally as many Piratesm Peter Pans and Captain Hooks! Iit was a great time for my boys to be able to dress up in all of their Pirate Garb!! So much fun and we will be sure to do it again :thumbsup2 !!

They've had them - and they still have Pirates - but they don't sell adequately to stock them. In fact, Princess Wear seems way down from previous years....used to be all over the place, this year I ended up in Tinkerbell's Treasures because the first few stores I stopped in didn't have princess dresses - which shocked me!

At various times my son has had Buzz, Peter Pan, Captain Hook - he never did want to be Prince Charming.....

That is awesome!
I think my son (5 when we go) would love it.
Thanks so much!!!!!!

Since there are such a limited amount of costumes for boys, so to counteract this, I taught myself to sew this past year and started making them for him. Last September my DS (4 at the time) had Hercules, Peter Pan, and Buzz Light Year. He got so much extra attention from the cast members (especially dressed at hercules at 1900 Park Fare!) that he begged me to make him more. We leave in 16 days. I know a couple of these aren't officially Disney, but they fit in perfectly at Hollywood Studios. I have personally made him an Aladdin and Obi Wan Kenobi, but managed to purchase a red Power Ranger, Indiana Jones, and a pirate costume for $1 each after Halloween at Walmart. DS (turning 5 in a couple of weeks) loves all of the extra attention and really intends to wear no real clothes for our trip. If your son likes to dress up, then there are many ways to improvise. Get Creative! There's no reason to let them be left out.

I am the mom of 5 yo tein boys and have been thinking the same things. Everything is for the lil girls.

I think my boys are excited about the Pirates things. But one of the boys is more timid than the other. Has anyone has a scary experience with the Pirates.

What are your boys favorite things?

We have made reservations for twin BG gkids at BBB when we are there later this month and then over to Castle for lunch. I have made pirate cape out of crushed dark brown velour for GS and almost have Cindy dress down for GD. I'd rather sew for GS any day as most of the patterns are so easy and don't require all of that gathering and ruffles:rotfl2: . Just need to be creative in the thought process-have made him shorts and matching t-shirts-just applique Lightening or character onto plain colored Tees. Kids love that they have something special to wear for Disney World and Nana gets the hugs. Worth every minute:grouphug:
