I called Homeland Security first and they connected me to my local FBI agency. The Detective from the terrorism unit is the one who took my info and said someone would be calling me today or tomorrow to discuss it some more.

I mean I guess like some people said here maybe it could be money laundering etc.
I just felt like it was too coincidental that each group of the new people who are bidding on these uniforms signed up specifically on the same dates as each other.like 3 on one day and 3 again a week later, and all of them are only bidding and winning these ups uniforms.they arent bidding on the dale jarrett ups stuff which is a hot thing now, they are only (winning and mostly doing buy it now) official ups jackets, shirts, shorts, caps etc -in all different sizes.

like one poster said here, "that I am new here as well", which is true, but I am not buying official UPS uniforms along with 8 other people and paying lots and lots of money for them in such a short period of time.

so I am not against new people on ebay nor am i typically suspicious of them but this just caught my eye as something weird.

I hope when it gets looked into that its just some coincidental fluke!!!

Good job Looneyhouse.
I just don't understand why the items would sell at such high prices. Are these few people bidding AGAINST each other for the uniforms? Or maybe whoever is selling them has created User IDs to bid on their own items to drive the price up?
Maybe it is the money laundering thing?

Again, thelooneyhouse, great work!!!!!! Even if it is nothing, you sure have done your job and carried it through to the best you can.

Now, how about Mickey. You like him? :teeth:

I noticed that the one seller (redrocket) is now "not a registered user". He/she must have beened suspended or banned from e-bay.

Have you reported this to Ebay too?
You never know -- it could even be sellers uping the $ on their items (through another name).
We see what we assume to be this happen with pins on Ebay. Some sellers try to create a high end demand.
$400 for a pair of pants you would think might go for $7 - $20?
My philosophy is never hurts to go with your gut feeling. It's almost always right. No harm done even if your assumption is wrong.

Hello everyone,
I usually haven't posted here in a long time but my friend Jody told me about this. You can check the suspect auctions by going to ebay, click Search, UPS uniforms, then the last box - completed items - and they are all there.
It seems very suspicious to me and I hope that the FBI is following up on this.
Good job Looneyhouse.

I concur with the majority of people on this board looneyhouse....

GREAT JOB!
I quit looking at ebay for several reasons...glad someone like you was checking for something, and may have helped all of us!

You just never know what might happen. So, from the bottom of my heart...Thank you!

Great job on the research! It sure does sound fishy. Something is not right there. Now I want to know what the heck is going on there. I hate not knowing! Please let us know if you find out anything else.

is that they are not really selling UPS items at all. I have been told that people actually sell drugs on ebay by using key words that the average person would not suspect. I had no idea stuff like that was happening!
I'm glad you reported it and I really hope the FBI doesn't "drop the ball" on it -- just in case it is terrorists.

I doubt that these folks are "terrorists"  , unless they're members of the "Gang who couldn't shoot straight". For all of the horror of 9-11, it's quite clear that the planning was meticulous and professional. Terrorists don't buy clothing over the Internet leaving a paper trail, complete with payment method AND addresses, a mile long:) :) . Trust me, it's not hard to fabricate ANY uniform or most IDs..........

I think you deserve a HUGE round of applause for being so observant and taking the action you did..

Not only was it approrpiate, but you very may have well reported something to the FBI that will save thousands of lives!!

Think about it - all the package bombs that could be placed in various locations..

Welcome to the DIS and thank you SOOOOO much for doing the responsible thing!

Well, I'm glad that you reported it also. Whatever it is terrorists, drugs, or innocent, it is just too suspicious.
Thanks for your awareness!

Is that how you got your Doctor uniform, EROS?;)

Seriously, I have to agree with what you're saying,BIG E.

Except the guy who did the deed in OK city, he did leave a parer trail. It's rather unfortunate that we have to be suspiscious of everyone and everything, but life has turned out that way. I hope this EBay incident is just some add thing, but it could be some other wierdos trying to do something. Since there is a way of tracking a lot of stuff down on ebay, if this does turn out to be "the bad guys", it will once again prove that crooks (for the most part) are stupid.

Better safe than sorry.

And also, better suspicious than naive. Again, can't say it enough, good for you, thelooneyhouse. And I just love the name. :)

There were people who had seen the 9-11 terrorists doing their test runs, and they are now wishing that they had said something. Yes mabye it is just someone buying them for their own pleasure. I for one am glad that we are a more alert society.

Certainly Theloonyhouse was right to call and report something so strange!
AND I love the name too. ;)

A friend of mine suggested that it is a publicity stunt by EBay.
Just to get everyone talking about them on the internet etc...

I hope it is something so benign. It's wierd!!

Another detective just called me and took more of the information I had and is seriously looking into it. He said alot of the activity doesnt look right and is working along with ebay and the UPS on this.He said he will contact me again in a few days.

So who knows, again this could all be nothing but I am glad that it is in the proper hands now.
