we were discussing next years summer holiday to turkey and dd (age 7) asked if there would be any characters there :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

i managed to remind her what holidays were about before disney !!

Awww, bless!!

We laugh but my children probably don't know what a holiday without characters is :earseek:

Oh how sweet! :goodvibes

My DD assumed she'd see the princesses on her birthday as she had last year! DH wrote her a card from them all and thankfully that did :)

We spent 2 weeks in the summer in Turkey with DD (almost 7) :sunny:
She didn't ask about characters at the time but is more than ready to greet them next Easter..... ;) :cheer2:
The pool and the friends she made out there more than compensated for a fortnight :rotfl: .

where abouts in turkey were you alison ?? any tips ??

We were in Altinkum which is about an hour or so from Bodrum. Think sea-side town vs big city (Altinkum being the sea-side town) ;)

As a family we love Turkey.
We started going to Altinkum before Eve could walk and made many local friends there. It was lovely being able to sit and eat a meal whilst the waiters entertained her..... :teeth:
The Turks love children and say that a house isn't a home without children so, from our experience, they can't do enough to help - be it entertaining, baby sitting, feeding........
My husband isn't in the best of health either but I know that he can spend the day at our friends' restaurant sketching (he's an artist) and, if he feels ill, they'll bend over backwards to let him lie down, make him eat or drink (he tends to forget  ) or just simply give me a call and bring him back to wherever we're staying

We've also been to Kusadasi which we enjoyed but found very busy, in comparison to Altinkum, and Marmaris (same again).

One thing I will say is that we found prices to have risen quite dramatically this year - from being very cheap to more in line with other EU holiday destinations.
If you like a drink at night pick up some duty free at the airport as even the local stuff isn't very reasonable - £2.50 for a glass of wine in a restaurant at night in some places but only 80p or so for a pint of lager.

Try http://www.turkishliving.com/index.php. It's a board similar to this and you can ask allsorts :sunny:

Where are you off to?
If you fancy buying an apartment abroad the prices over there are ridiculously cheap..... :wave2:
