Good night homies
See you all tomorrow :goodvibes

Hi all! Thanks for all the birthday wishes! It's been a crazy weekend. I skimmed the 17 pages or so that I had to go back, but unlike some of you organized folks, I'll never catch up. Sorry! I need one of those free homework passes!

Quick summary of the weekend! Friday was nice. We left early, after a bunch of snow, so driving wasn't great. However, we got to the ski place about noon - along with the entire state of Illinois! :confused3 Evidently they were all off for a long weekend (Leap Year Day weekend??). There were about 10 buses full of kids and about 90 percent of the folks on the slopes obviously had never been on skis before. Eric was skiing and I was snowboarding, and we managed to avoid the crowds on the slopes by sticking with the expert slopes and terrain parks, but couldn't get around them on the lifts. Took a good half hour to get up each time since an average of at least one person fell off each chair trying to get on and/or off.

Just a bit frustrating because since I'd taken him out of school, I was kind of hoping the place would be a bit empty, not completely packed. But we had some fun together - the weather was TOO hot - in the lower 30's and by the end of our first hour out there we were both soaked in sweat. Actually came in and stood in the bathroom using the hand dryer to dry out my shirt. I know, TMI! :rotfl: I guess I"m used to skiing when it's -30, not 30!

Anyways, we made it to Madison (stayed on the University of Wisconsin campus) and had time to swim in the pool, warm up in the sauna and order pizza. Got to bed early and got rested up for the math competition!

ERIC DID GREAT! After finishing 7th in the region, with his team 4th in the region, he was just hoping to get some experience at state. Last year he finished 69th (usually about 140-150 kids qualify from 5 regions). Well, he came in 10th and qualified for the countdown round! (Where they get to compete on stage with buzzers and all) - top 10 kids made it! He beat the first kid he went up against, but lost to the next person, so ended up 9th overall and got a big trophy.

Then his team came in 4th overall out of about 38 teams! Totally weren't expecting that! I was busy taking pics of him and trying to text them to dad and they called the team up! Really cool! The kids were obviously on their game that day since to be 4th in the region and then 4th in the state was a huge jump! And for Eric to go from 7th in the region to 9th in the state was a big leap too - he beat out all but one of the kids who had beaten him at regionals! So we were all really excited! :yay:

Some pics! First, Eric and the next contestant getting set up for the countdown round:

Afterwards we had a brief chance to walk around the campus, and then drove to visit a cousin of mine I hadn't seen in ages. She has 3 boys (all in the late 20's age now) and we've kept in touch regularly at least since I got married. Since we've moved to Wisconsin, we've been trying to meet up with them and finally succeeded. In talking with her and her husband, we were able to determine the last time we've met up in person was when I was the flower girl at her wedding - when I was THREE! We're hoping to keep in better touch from now on!

Stayed too long socializing and had to drive home in the dark. Not my favorite. Stopped for dinner and Eric promptly fell asleep for the rest of the drive home. Guess too much math is exhausting! :rotfl2:

We did presents and cake today - the "guys" got a good GPS to share.

Oops - gotta go. Be back soon!

Sorry for the break in action. I was going to point out our beautiful weather here. After a nice day with temps in the upper 30's, all evening it's been pouring and lightning like crazy! Can't remember the last time I've seen so much lightning - especially at this time of year!

I was attempting to finish my post, when I had a kid run up saying what every parent loves to hear "Mom, come quick! There's a whole bunch of water in the basement!" :scared1:

So we just went through about 50 towels cleaning it up. Royce went out and cleaned the snow all away from the window it was coming through. We had this happen a couple times the first summer we moved in, but had put covers over the windows and it hadn't happened since. Guess too much snow got in the covers. Of course the carpet under the pool table is soaked so we tried to wet-vac it and put a heater by it. Stopped the stream of water from coming down - now it's down to a trickle. We'll just have to keep swapping out towels. Why do I think this will be happening pretty much non-stop from now until all the snow is melted?! :headache:

Okay, back to my birthday story. We went out and played with the GPS this afternoon. Would have been nice to have this weekend while driving to all new places with Eric, but should be fun for the future. Nothing else much exciting.

Again, thanks for the birthday wishes. I'll try to do more than skim all the pages I missed whenever I get a chance - not going to be tonight since it's already late and I have about a zillion things left to do. They're predicting that this will soon turn into freezing rain, sleet, ice and eventually 1-3 inches of snow! Yep, commuting tomorrow morning will be fun!

Catch you all tomorrow!

Ah yes - Boones Farm Tickle Pink - the memories of the 80's.;)

Does this mean - you didn't need the baklava????

marcie, did you forget that illinois is the only state that officially celebrates Casimir Pulaski day?
:confused3

You'd think since we live about 5 miles from the city of Pulaski, I'd have heard of it! Evidently not! So, no, I guess I didn't forget - just didn't know! Oh well, you know what they say "A bad day skiing is still better than a good day at the office!" (Or something like that! :rotfl: )

Does this mean - you didn't need the baklava????

Would have probably been better than the balaclava, which we were wearing unfortunately!

And we just came back from our second attempt at the basement. The well around the window was full AGAIN with another 8 inches of water, all leaking rapidly into the basement. DH set up a pump out there to drain it and I did my second load full of towels. 4 more degrees until it starts freezing again!

bought my 6 month tanning package yesterday. unlimited minutes per session, unlimited sessions, 180 days at 1 dollar a day, beds and booths. i also love that fact that they are open 7 days a week.
:goodvibes

i do it realllllllll slow. 5 minutes first week, then 6 for a week all the way up to 11 or 12- never go more than that, and at that point, not every day, 4 days a week. i dont wanna burn and being so fair skinned, i have a "base" all summer that is not bad.

You are doing it right...nice and slow... :thumbsup2 what do you mean by "unlimited minutes"? I understand 'sessions'....but "minutes"? Each time you go, aren't you limited to a maximum of 20 minutes? :confused3

Bought our first tan package of the year yesterday as well. DH bought a package for us to share. . .he's never been so he was asking me some questions last night that I thought were sooooo funny. He wanted to know if he should tan with his boxers on. . . I said, well, it's up to you. . . whatever you are comfortable with. He said, well, I'm not comfortable with the chance on getting THAT burned. . . I said take a wash cloth to cover the boys. . .so, he replies, then I'll need a hand towel. My DH will be 70 and still making cracks like that.

So. . the tanning package. . . he bought 200 minutes on the super beds to start with. The YOUNG girls working were actually very helpful and didn't even laugh to see two old, pale fat people standing there. . .so that was good. Seriously though, they answered all our questions and seemed to know a bit about the beds and there was no pressue to purchase anything at all. She did try to sell dh some lotion for guys that was $60 for the bottle. . . we both started laughing. He bought the $20 lotion and says he doesn't care about smelling like a coconut. He goes "I can use that stupid lotion, drive a mini van and I STILL know I'm the MAN". :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: He was funny all day.

Oh, and we got to go shopping for vacation clothes :cool1: :worship: Well, I didn't buy anything cuz I'm not buying for another 6 weeks or so. I could lose a clothes size or more in that amount of time! He bought all the girls clothes though and they each got 2 pair of shoes. . .what the. . . I got ZERO!! My parents come home for FL today, and they are bringing the girls new crocs so we don't have to buy those. They also each got two new swim suits so I think they are all set. DH got some stuff too, but he still needs new tennis shoes and some sandals. . . and, ok, he's got some issues with man sandals. He said I could order whatever shoes I wanted cuz I can't find what I want anywhere (well. . .they are at shoes.com) and he would pay for them. I don't have to break out my secret stash !

Glad you got yours too....you wouldn't believe how many people wait until a month or LESS before their prom/vacation/whatever to tan :confused3 Not enuf time...unless ya tan really easily ;) Your husband sounds like a hoot! Tell him to wear a Speedo.... Reminds me of a gentleman and wife who come in together to our salon...he's a riot, she's embarrassed by him :rotfl2: But...they are a FUN couple to have as customers.

I would love to know the story behind "issues w/ man sandals".... :confused3

Ok. . .so I'll tell dh that BARB convinced me that we couldn't POSSIBLY go to Universal without all these things I'm going to convince him we need. . . :rolleyes1

My things that are unusual to take that many don't think of: shoe organizer, spray air freshener, extension cords, ziploc baggies, clothespins, handheld electronic game (for the bathroom times :rolleyes1 ), and a couple of other things "stored" in suitcases..... :scratchin

So house hunting was a bust. What dumps!

Sigh....

Sorry to hear that  Hopefully you're working with a good realtor (crappy economy is a good incentive for him to find you something)... Most of the time, it's all about the timing. The "good deals" go quick.... Our house was for sale for 9 days when they accepted our offer....that's pretty quick  :thumbsup2

Don't give up....will take time, but will be SO worth it! :goodvibes

I spent the afternoon at Epcot and then renewed my AP for another year...$335.00 isn't bad considering it's the admission and parking. I still wish they would include park discounts on food and merchandise but I guess the Mouse wants all the money he can get. :rolleyes1

I'll be renewing Univeral at a few weeks. :woohoo:

Thought you weren't renewing Disney AP? Changed yer mind, huh?? Musta been a nice day out if you went to Epcot....was it crowded?

i've never heard of a place that would let u split a tanning pkgs - how :cool1: is that!

I know our program 'allows' package sharing, but I don't know if our salon/boss is allowing it? (will haveta remember to ask....thanks for the reminder!)

Thanks Barb,

We aren't working with a Realtor yet, really just going to open houses and such and checking stuff out online. Its a very dry market right now and everything is such garbage in our price range.....

i will happen tho....

Tequila makes my clothes fall off.

Okay....
1. Where is the freakin' Tag Fairy??? :confused3
2. Doesn't tequila make everyone's clothes fall off??

I gave up tequila after I changed shirts with a complete stranger at the door of a club in front of the door cop, bouncer, and cover charge guy (as well as everyone else in line).

I did get in for free, however. :confused3

Hey! I remember you tellin' that story ::yes::

Just declaring. I seldom drink when my children are around. They have an uncle that is alcoholic so I don't like to do it in front of them. I will however drink a margarita or two at margaritaville.

Heck that was a hard hit!

You just can't go to Mville and NOT have a MARGARITA :confused3

I will mention that Bubba has seen me drink....but I don't think he 'understands' when I've had a little much....I do a pretty good job of hiding it :rolleyes1

DH not in love with our SNB either right now. It seems that when you buy it they don't tell you the numbers may vary by up to 15 points while you are sleeping. So DH had it set at 50 to try it and well it went down to 45 and he had a back ache today So he is slightly grumpy today . As for me I  It . I am usually the one with the bad back and have had mine set a little too soft too but I know that I should be at 50 to start and go down from there . I guess it is true that you really need a few weeks to get use to the bed. Still keeping it as of now though .:thumbsup2 But if DH is still grumpy he may kill me and send me out with the bed :rotfl2: .

:rotfl2: Hang in there....you will get used to it....hopefully quicker than a couple weeks  Just have to find "your" number. ;) When DH & I were dating, and he was sleeping over my house, he had a hard time getting used to sleeping in my waterbed. Now, according to him, it's the best bed in the world.... And, just like you...when I first got it, I had to find the 'temperature' that was suitable for me. Too chilly...too warm :headache: ....found MY temp! :thumbsup2 ...it IS the ONLY bad thing about going on vacation...we really miss our bed :sad2:

So the DH that was grumpy suprised me with my Birthday Gift Today .:cheer2: . He got me my Cricut Expressions and well if you scrapbook you know what it is . If not it is a cutting machine for scrapbookers and well card makers , kids projects etc. You get the picture. I really love DH right now  .

I scrap...but minimally....I've seen that machine...it's way kewl! :woohoo: (I don't scrap enuf to warrant spending THAT kind of money tho :rolleyes1 ) Let me know how you like it....

Yeah. . .heard dh yell. . .looked up at ole Jeff was SMASHING the wall. He's ok too. Does anyone else have a husband who cranks it up?? My dh feels the need to do that EVERY TIME they have crank it up. . . and I mean he cranks it up. He was sitting right next to me and yelling and I couldn't hear him. The kids came running and the dog started barking and his collectibles were vibrating and all hello was breaking loose. . . plus the windows were open to the balmy 70 degree evening :cloud9: He goes "just like being there". I said not it's not. . that's WAY lounder than being at the track :scared1: :scared1:

RED FLAGS ARE BORING

Sounds like DH when the refs are ruining the hockey game :sad2: Yells, gets loud....really not pleasant.... (thankfully he 'forgets' the game is on a lot...and I casually forget to "remind" him.... :rolleyes1 )

The COT is down right dangerous on the Vegas track. They were closing in on 200 mph during the practices!

They are probably going to have to make it a restrictor plate race to keep the speeds down, but I don't know if that will help with the drifting and sliding these guys are doing in the turns.

Uh.....what? :confused3

Barb, a bunch of guys got speeding penalties (driving too fast in pit row). There are VERY FEW left on the lead lap.

Well....that makes sense...thanks. Why SO many speeding penalties today?

jr's going to be 15; figure he can handle seeing me kill a couple beers. Better to show him responsible boozin (or at least not drinking & driving) Think making it a big mystery like my parents did isn't the best idea...which is why i was sneaking off with all my friends sharing bottles of boones farm @ the age of 14 - had to taste the forbidden fruit?)

 smart idea! I've always told DH that if Bubba is underage and wants to drink, I'd rather him do it here at home....rather than out and involve 'vehicles' :rolleyes1

- oh and barb can add me to the list of those having a "drink" - watching wedding crashers too :lmao: funny!!!

okay, okay...i get it! You all are here boozin' and yakin'..and I was working out! :snooty: :headache: Hey...i keep forgettin' to ask ya...didja get DINGed?

Jeff Gordon out of infield care center and is okie dokie. . interview right now.

What happened to him? :confused3

And as for all the NASCAR talk I have to learn what is going on and who are these guys.

But me and DH have NO IDEA  what is going on and who is driving what car.

Don't feel bad...I'm clueless too :rolleyes1

When my oldest dd was younger. . .maybe 12ish. . . she walked up to me while I was sitting in the kitchen enjoying an ice cold bud light and took the beer, dumped it down the sink and told me that was very bad for me and I should not drink . . . all while I sat there, mouth open, dumbfounded that she would even. . . . she turned around and walked into her room, where I advised her to stay for the rest of the evening and got myself another. The next day she told me I was mean because I was drunk :lmao: I had like maybe 3 sips before she took it. I reminded her of that incident not long ago and she was like, yeah, I was such a brat, wasn't I :confused3 My response. . . what do you mean was???

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

oh - and dont' tell anyone - but thunder and lightning freak me out :scared1: :scared1: - I am totally paranoid and will cry at times if stuck out in them :guilty:

I don't like being out when it's lightening either....can't blame ya there :thumbsup2

My kids (well, Joshua... Daniel will eventually) know that there are plenty of things they can't do until they are older. Drinking alcohol is one of them. I don't hide it, however. I drink sometimes. Brad drinks rarely. Neither one of us gets fall down drunk in front of them. I am never at a point where I can't care for them.
I've had 4 rum & cokes and I'm comfortably buzzed. If I can make it back and post again after getting the boys in bed, I will. :goodvibes

Told ya you wuz smart! :goodvibes

Guess you weren't "able" to make it back...hhhmmmmm..... :rolleyes1

Thanks Barb,

We aren't working with a Realtor yet, really just going to open houses and such and checking stuff out online. Its a very dry market right now and everything is such garbage in our price range.....

i will happen tho....

Yeah KFed...takes time....and you'll "know" it when you see it.... The best thing to do right now IS what you're doing...Going out and getting a 'feel' for what's out there for your price range.... :thumbsup2 ...oh, and you might get some decorating ideas too :rolleyes1

We got to the ski place about noon - along with the entire state of Illinois! :confused3

Sorry to hear it was so crowded....that sux :headache:

Took a good half hour to get up each time since an average of at least one person fell off each chair trying to get on and/or off.

Reminds me of waiting in lines at Disney

ERIC DID GREAT! After finishing 7th in the region, with his team 4th in the region, he was just hoping to get some experience at state.

YAY! Congrats to Eric.... :cheer2: You must be so proud!

We did presents and cake today - the "guys" got a good GPS to share.

Boys and their toys.... :sad2:

I was attempting to finish my post, when I had a kid run up saying what every parent loves to hear "Mom, come quick! There's a whole bunch of water in the basement!" :scared1:

I would especially hate to hear that.... since we don't HAVE a BASEMENT....

No, got school tomorrow.....but at least its an easy day
