Here's a shot of Bubba from August..... (while we're thinking WARM).........

aww miss the warm sun and great pic of Bubba Barb :cool2:

I was just about ready to call it a nite, and almost forgot to tell ya about the "are ya tan yet?" thing.....

Here's the background you need to know:

Employees:
me- (day shift, 3 days/wk/21 hrs.)
Angie- manager (night shift, Sundays, appx. 23 hrs./wk)
Matt- (day shift, 3-5 days/wk, appx. 23 hrs./wk)
Kristen- (late day/evening shift, college girl, appx. 16 hrs./wk)
Jill- (late day/evening shift, college girl....hardly is available to work when we need someone)
Meredith-(late day/evening shift, college girl....hardly works....due to availability...matter of fact, I've never even MET this girl :confused3 )

I work steadily Mon, Wed, Thurs 9-4...Matt works the same hours on Tues, Fri and Saturday. (my opposite). Angie is the 'evening' regular. The owner (Jim) wants everyone to keep the same 'schedule'....so the customers get used to seeing the same people all the time and it's good for the employees.

We are informed this week, that the owner has given the employees free tanning....according to this schedule:
if you work 5-19 hrs./wk, you get 1 free tan that week...if you work 20+ hrs/wk, you get 2 free tans. WTH?? It usually takes 2-3 times/wk to MAINTAIN a tan once you are tan...I feel being an employee and representative of this establishment, that amount of free tanning is NOT going to cut it to GET tan to the point of 'maintaining'. I spoke to the manager (Angie) about this, and told her that I'd be willing to forego my 'free' twice a week for a 50% discount on any package. She seemed to 'go' for that idea and was supposed to mention it to the owner....(guess I'll find out Monday when I talk to him if she did or not :rolleyes1 ) I told her I am tanning more than twice a week....what's my incentive to spend my money HERE vs. a competitor?? ;)

The story gets better.... he wants to only give us 25% off lotions. Now, he would still be makin' 25% off us...that's not right. He should sell lotions to us at cost (what HE buys them for)...and, I even said I'd pitch in $1 toward shipping.... Angie agrees with me on this one. Told her that's how it is in the hair industry too.... I can get the same tanning product catalog at the hair salon and we can place an order and get it for cost....so, if he is still gonna charge me 25% more than cost, I have NO reason to buy it from him....I'll get my lotions on my own thru the hair salon :thumbsup2

I told the manager that I totally and completely understand where he (owner) is coming from....from a business point of view...I do...I totally "get it"....BUT, (i told her), HE needs to understand where I/WE are coming from...as employees. If he was paying us $15/hr. I wouldn't mind the 25% profit he'd be makin', but he's not paying that..... I think she is with me on all my thoughts regarding 'employee benefits'....I know Kristen and Matt are :rolleyes1

So....the competitor has free tanning this weekend....will haveta go...just because.......we have it the weekend of the 14th....we'll see what he says on Monday or whenever I talk to him..... (little bit o luck :wizard: )

Good night all
finally got my laptop back working and all the spyware and viruses out but I haven't gotten any better with what ever is a chest cold or just the flu:confused3 but anyway hope you all have sweet dreams :cloud9:

Thanks everyone for the comments on my bro's head!! :goodvibes

It is sad because it is the last time I will have it while he is a swimmer, but I could always do it when he becomes a coach ;)

But now that my boys know I can do this, they want their own designs......

this year I also did the Superman and the Flash symbol....but I didn't get pics....

Is bro definately going to coach? (must run in the family, huh?) Now..you know better than to NOT take a pic....You should keep pix of them all...build an album, get your "clients" to "pick" from it and, for heaven's sake....CHARGE a LITTLE something! Your time and talent are worth it! (heck, even if we're talkin' $5 or $10 ....better than nothin'!)

That Mucinex works! (at least for all of us it does!)...just be sure to read the enclosed info and your info w/ allergy meds.... I think it'll be fine...usually drugs that interact with each severly enuf, are not sold OTC. If you have questions, call the dr. in the morning...OR go to the local Walmart/Target/whatever you have pharmacy....pharmacist would know :thumbsup2 Hope you feel better :wizard:

she only worries about YOU like you worry about HER :rolleyes1

Yea, Barb, when the times comes, he will coach. Following in his both sisters' footsteps :thumbsup2

And DF and I were both college swimmers, so our kids are going to rock it out in the pool! (As if they have a choice ;) )

I vacate the state in August.

And to those that are hoping to find me, Good Luck! :p

Are you going to give us any clues at all?

Hi all-
Quick fly by.
I can't catch up, sorry.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and good thoughts :goodvibes
Thanks, Penny, for your PM :)

PLEASE keep on praying. My dad is having surgery on his bowels as I am typing. I was just at the hospital a couple of hours ago. My mom was there.
My dad was waiting to go down for x-rays. He was very tired.
When they took my dad down for x-rays, my mom and I went to lunch at the hospital cafeteria. Then I left from there to go home. Actually I had to stop for an errand on my way home.
I got home and my mom calls to tell me they are going to do surgery on my dad right now. I don't know any details other than his bowels are really obstructed. So they are doing bowel obstruction surgery I suppose.

Please keep praying that the surgeon removes everything that is obstructing his bowels and hopefully they won't find any cancer that metastisized (this is my fear).

Not sure if I'll bbl or not.

Thanks, homies for your support :goodvibes

Lots of prayers coming your dad's way. Think positive.

Got some DL maps. 2009 baby! :thumbsup2
I think 2 days minimum for each park. and we are doing USHollywood. told DH I aint missing that. Only like 23 miles.

so I posted a couple of times on the cb thread. Man , talk about Sharks in the water! :scared:

Woo Hoo DL maps. Remember the Indiana Jones ride & the Roger Rabbit ride are not to be missed!

How many times do I have to tell you guys to stay away from that place.

And now what you have been waiting for...

What do you think?

Wow! That is amazing.

So had he started his meet yet?

I'm doing very well. . .thanks for asking. I have lost just about 20 pounds now. . short of my goal of 15 per month though. I'll take it and if I lose 10 pounds a month that's just fine too. I am still using the alli and plan to continue to use it for another 4 months. . . . except for the week prior to and during our vacation of course. I don't know if alli stays in your system at all, but I'm not taking any chances. Someone here told me they were using it and quit about a week prior to vacation (maybe MF) While I don't plan on stuffing myself with red meat, bacon and greasy food, I am going to enjoy a few things I normally wouldn't touch. I will have a cheeseburger. . or at least 1/2 of one. I most definitely will eat a little pizza and beyond that, I don't know what else might tempt me to taste. I plan to stay away from fried though. . . besides french fries, I never ate much fried food anyway. So I think I'll save my french fry indulgence for the Illinois State Fair in August when I can have Spies fries with vinegar. While it's the "healthy" issue that is most important and motivating for me, the weight loss is part of that and I hope that getting the amount of exercise we will with all the walking, a few not so healthy choices will be offset by that :confused3

I've read most of the menus where we will be dining and I will still make healthier choices most of the time. . .chicken, salads, etc. Oh, I do plan to also indulge in breakfast a few times. I mean besides grape nuts, yogurt, egg whites. . .ya know. That was my favorite meal and I miss hashbrowns and veggie omlets. :lovestruc DH has demanded at least 3 meals at IHOP. . his favorite breakfast restaurant of all times. . . especially when in FL because they have EXCELLENT orange juice.

DH and I both realize that we will have to be pretty careful because we have been eating very healthy since 1/1/08 and by the time we go on vacation, our bodies will likely not be happy with anything else. So, I anticipate lots of food sharing so we can get that taste without any undesirable side effects. Oh, yeah, one other thing we may allow ourselves are some yummy, rich deserts. I think we have 3 or 4 that we are looking forward to. . .but they will be shared as well. Molten Tire at NASCAR Cafe. . . warm chocolate banana gooey cake at Mythos. . . and a visit to the Dessert Lady cafe as recommended by Kelly Monaghan on another thread. I can easily pass on the ice cream and other typical park desserts (oh, wait, did someone say Cinnabon and Starbucks. . )

In June we have a 5 night camping/quad/dirt bike riding trip planned. I am finding it difficult to plan menus for that. Fresh foods don't stay fresh in coolers. . .salad goes bad, broccoli stinks to high heaven, so I'm struggling with that. We do alot of crockpot cooking and we will grill chicken as well. I will definitely miss my veggies though. . . I eat tons and tons of them. Carrots and potatoes survive well . . . and whole, fresh fruit also, but all my green and leafy stuff doesn't go well with camping. Scampers who have ideas :flower3:

More response than you bargained for, huh. . . :cool2:

Great job Wendy!

I have to agree with you about that vacation food. There are just some foods I have to have. One of those includes Mickey Bars. I have to have them. Oh and Parmesan mashed potatoes from Chef Mickeys.

Can't help with the fresh foods. Good luck.

lori - i luv the pic w/donald duck:thumbsup2 so cute, SSR? (i've never been there lol). Embarrassingly, it was probably me who yanked your chain about WWL hallways...believe i posted a pic of DS in stitch hat goofing in the hallway:laughing:

Yep that pic was from SSR. Go over some time and look around. It really is a pretty resort. And in my opinion the best pool for little kids. Love the zero entry area & the small slide. Cool play area too.

I think it was kelliblue that got The Shining stuck in my head. She was talking about it reminding her of the scene with the little girl standing in the hall. :headache: Yep, those thoughts will be there from now on.

tricia - when the Cabbage Patch monsters 1st came out they were so hard to find; oldest DS was the only one of his buds not to have one (i even had sent his stoopid paternal grandmother out to get one @ ToysRus when i got word of a shipment & the witch kept it for herself:mad: ). On the top of his Xmas list that year, so i bought a pattern & made one of them. Actually, much easier than i thought. Big pain was the hair, each strand out of yarn looped as in a boy's cut...worked on it every lunch hour @ work. Will have to try & find an old picture...anyway, i even forged a birth certificate...not that hard; know there have to be fakes out there.

Let's start...where in the world is DM? 1st hint please!;)

Well then you will really like this. My sister was working as an electrician at the time they came out. They were working on a new Venture store. She told me they had them stock piled in the back room. Were only putting out a few at a time so they could drive up the prices.

Good evening homies just stopping by to say hi been trying to get online but wasn't working out for me since some how I got a buch of spyware and viruses on my laptop that my anti virus didn't catch so was finally able to get on microsoft page and download a tool to remove it and finally got it up and going plus I am fighting a chest cold thats killing me and may wind up taking a trip to the emergency room if I get any worse. :scared1:

Feel better Lawrence. :wizard:

Sooooo. We were supposed to head down south today. Well, we got another snowstorm and DH got stomach flu. Hopefully all will be better tomorrow and we can try. Sure are a lot of sickies!

That stinks. Why is the weather not cooperating with you!!!! Hopefully you will be able to head down tomorrow. Hope dh feels better too. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I made steak fajitas tonight.
now i smell like one.
think it is in my nose or something......:scared:

we could be trapped all day in the house saturday.

good ole month of March

in like a freakin' roaring lion all right.

:surfweb:

 Come on spring!

Joshua just informed me that he thinks maybe we shouldn't have had Daniel.

:rotfl:

I told him that sometimes the people we love can bother us, but it is always worth it... because we are family and we stick together. :confused3

Oh my! What has Daniel done to make Joshua mad? :rotfl2:

I suppose I will tell my bird poop story, since DH is here and can help me with it. Our two boys and our nephew were carrying fanny packs with disposable cameras while on vacation in 2005. We were at Animal Kingdom and discovered that our youngest DS (Jacob) had left his fanny pack in the men's room on the other side of the park. I went with him and he went back in the restroom and retrieved his fanny pack. Meanwhile, DH and the two older boys stayed right past Tarzan Rocks on the bridge taking pictures of the construction for Expedition Everest. While they there they were looking at fish swimming in the water at the bridge. DH looked at Zack (oldest DS) and asked him what was on his shirt....it was bird poop...nephew (Clay) started laughing and then noticed it was on him too....They waited for us to come back and then we all headed to the nearest restroom so that they could clean themselves up. For the rest of the trip, the boys found themselves watching for birds, which was hilarious because it was like they thought that the birds had it in for them. Here's a pic of nephew going into the bathroom...too bad you can't see the bird poop, but we know it was on him.

The birds were out to get them, just like they were out to get me! :upsidedow

Ya want to hear something funny????

DH got a package in the mail today....................
it was a Gillette Fusion razor and shaving cream..............
the box said it was for his 18th birthday! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nah...you're not the poop lady! :thumbsup2

Nope, that would be Tricia! :rolleyes1

Figures THAT would get stuck in yer head...

:sad2:

:rotfl2: oh yeah....NOBODY would get a TAG for THAT one :rolleyes1

:confused3 I don't know you guys...maybe he WAS the originator and she copied him?? :confused3 I don't know, but remind me Saturday &/or Sunday to dig my dollie out and post her pix ;) (if you don't remind me, I'll forget)

Aren't we supposed to be reminding you to tell us a tanning story too?

We'll be there....he seems to do the 'thrills'...can't see him w/ Bev :scratchin ....we'll look around :magnify:

We will find him! ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi all-
I'm very tired right now.
Just got off the phone with my mom a few minutes ago. She said dad's surgery went well. He is in the recovery room now. The surgeon removed the spleen- spleen was very inflamed for quite awhile. They also resected part of his intestine- don't know if it is the small or large intestine they resected. THe part of hte intestine resected didn't have much blood supply and was necrosed (dead tissue). So now it is is resected. Don't know how long he will be in the hospital- probably at least 4 or 5 days.

Thank you all for your prayers! They were very much appreciated! :goodvibes
Please continue to pray and good thoughts for his recovery b/c I know there can be complications from surgery- infection, blood clots, etc. I've been there, done that with complications from surgery.
Thanks!
Hope you all understand I can't respond to anyone now, just too tired and life is crazy!

That is good news. Keep us informed! :wizard:

youngest ds & his gramma put their heads together and cooked up a scheme (which i ruined in my usual manner) whereby he was going to pull out the torch to cut & reweld one of her canes to fit her better; wonder how long it would've taken the fire dept to get here?

Glad you caught them before they caused a major disaster.

dh stranded on highway, company in their infinite wisdom decided to roll the big rigs:rolleyes1 figure i'll see him in March tomorrow, yet it sounds far away

 Hope he gets moving.

Well...it's been a long day so I'm going to hit the sack.

Have a good night!

Nite Todd!

Oh, he said they just missed by a couple years......:rolleyes1

Lori: His meet was last weekend. He qualified for ECAC's (a bigger competition) that is going on now in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, we had to shave it off at the end of last weekend because he student teaches during the week and can't wear the in school.
