I was just about ready to call it a nite, and almost forgot to tell ya about the "are ya tan yet?" thing.....

Here's the background you need to know:

Employees:
me- (day shift, 3 days/wk/21 hrs.)
Angie- manager (night shift, Sundays, appx. 23 hrs./wk)
Matt- (day shift, 3-5 days/wk, appx. 23 hrs./wk)
Kristen- (late day/evening shift, college girl, appx. 16 hrs./wk)
Jill- (late day/evening shift, college girl....hardly is available to work when we need someone)
Meredith-(late day/evening shift, college girl....hardly works....due to availability...matter of fact, I've never even MET this girl )

I work steadily Mon, Wed, Thurs 9-4...Matt works the same hours on Tues, Fri and Saturday. (my opposite). Angie is the 'evening' regular. The owner (Jim) wants everyone to keep the same 'schedule'....so the customers get used to seeing the same people all the time and it's good for the employees.

We are informed this week, that the owner has given the employees free tanning....according to this schedule:
if you work 5-19 hrs./wk, you get 1 free tan that week...if you work 20+ hrs/wk, you get 2 free tans. WTH?? It usually takes 2-3 times/wk to MAINTAIN a tan once you are tan...I feel being an employee and representative of this establishment, that amount of free tanning is NOT going to cut it to GET tan to the point of 'maintaining'. I spoke to the manager (Angie) about this, and told her that I'd be willing to forego my 'free' twice a week for a 50% discount on any package. She seemed to 'go' for that idea and was supposed to mention it to the owner....(guess I'll find out Monday when I talk to him if she did or not ) I told her I am tanning more than twice a week....what's my incentive to spend my money HERE vs. a competitor??

The story gets better.... he wants to only give us 25% off lotions. Now, he would still be makin' 25% off us...that's not right. He should sell lotions to us at cost (what HE buys them for)...and, I even said I'd pitch in $1 toward shipping.... Angie agrees with me on this one. Told her that's how it is in the hair industry too.... I can get the same tanning product catalog at the hair salon and we can place an order and get it for cost....so, if he is still gonna charge me 25% more than cost, I have NO reason to buy it from him....I'll get my lotions on my own thru the hair salon

I told the manager that I totally and completely understand where he (owner) is coming from....from a business point of view...I do...I totally "get it"....BUT, (i told her), HE needs to understand where I/WE are coming from...as employees. If he was paying us $15/hr. I wouldn't mind the 25% profit he'd be makin', but he's not paying that..... I think she is with me on all my thoughts regarding 'employee benefits'....I know Kristen and Matt are

So....the competitor has free tanning this weekend....will haveta go...just because.......we have it the weekend of the 14th....we'll see what he says on Monday or whenever I talk to him..... (little bit o luck )

Try TheraFlu or Mucinex....that Mucinex is potent stuff for clearing a chest

It is sad because it is the last time I will have it while he is a swimmer, but I could always do it when he becomes a coach

But now that my boys know I can do this, they want their own designs......

this year I also did the Superman and the Flash symbol....but I didn't get pics....

That is always sad.

Of course the boys want you to do their heads too.

Is bro definately going to coach? (must run in the family, huh?) Now..you know better than to NOT take a pic....You should keep pix of them all...build an album, get your "clients" to "pick" from it and, for heaven's sake....CHARGE a LITTLE something! Your time and talent are worth it! (heck, even if we're talkin' $5 or $10 ....better than nothin'!)

And DF and I were both college swimmers, so our kids are going to rock it out in the pool! (As if they have a choice )

So now we are talking about kids huh? I believe you were talking about being scared about the wedding getting so close just a few weeks ago!

the box said it was for his 18th birthday!

No, his birthday is in November, but the package was supposed to be for his 18th birthday....I think they're a few years late!

Tell your Dh don't feel bad cause I took oldest DS to buy call of duty for ps3 and its rated m so I had to buy it and took it to the counter and the guys says its rated m and I say ok and he said can I see your id and looks at me like I am crazy and I hand it too him and say I guess you have to be over 40 to buy this

Lori: His meet was last weekend. He qualified for ECAC's (a bigger competition) that is going on now in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, we had to shave it off at the end of last weekend because he student teaches during the week and can't wear the in school.

Well that stinks! I hope he is doing great!

Well you guys...I have a pretty busy day tomorrow....gotta get some shut-eye!! I think we're heading to Olive Garden for dinner tomorrow nite when I get home....and I think DH wants to buy a new videocamera....one with a 'hard drive' in it... (seems the ones he likes to look at are $600 + ....oh well....his toy!)

Well all, I guess I am off to bed. I am beat. I left the house at noon and Sreturned home at about 9. Constant running for last minute carnival stuff then to the gym to start setting up. Tomorrow I have to blow up 300 balloons! Then head back to finish setting up and then get the carnival started. We will probably get home about midnight. I think I will stay in bed all day Sunday!

Katie - that design is amazing. I don't know how you do the simple designs let alone the complex ones. Since bro can't have them done anymore, I think it would be awesome for you to do your whole team (perhaps for the really big end of year meet).

Rosie - still sending out prayers and for dad. Wishing him a good recovery. Hope the surgery took care of all his problems.

Barb - My thoughts on the tanning issue. If your area is like most, there are plenty of tanning salons. For me, (an uninformed tanner), I would want the employees to be tanned and tell me about the beds and the lotions. The best way for you to do this, is for you to use them. And yes, once a week tanning isn't going to get you a good tan. I think the employee discount off a package deal is the best option. Around here you can pay $X and get unlimited tanning for a certain length of time ( 3months, 6 months, year). From one business owner to another - tell him to give you a discount - helps morale and will help him "advertise" his business to the customers.

Wendy - congrats on the weight loss so far. I had good intentions for about a week in January. Unfortunately, I think I have went the other way and probably gained a little. Now that most of my traveling is done, I need to get to the store and buy some healthier options. And I need to increase my water intake. So glad the "allie" is working for you.

DM - are you going to give us any hints - at least tell us which park??

Well gang, off to the office for me.

P.S. Mac did not come home again last night. Someone see if they can find her before I get home today.

The Daniel story from last night...

Joshua was setting up his Star Wars action figures and having battles (or whatever goes through his imagination when he's playing). He would get the figures all lined up on the coffee table and then Daniel would come along and swipe them all off with his arm while yelling, "HEE-YAH!"

Daniel thinks he's doing what he sees Joshua do.

Joshua thinks Daniel is a pain in the butt because he won't leave his stuff alone.

I distract Daniel and get him to play with me... building puzzles, which is one of his favorite things right now. As soon as I get Daniel interested in something else, Joshua will call Daniel and ask if he wants to play with him.

I tried to explain to Joshua that he can't have it both ways. Daniel is too young to understand how to play the way Joshua wants to play. SOOOO, he can either let Daniel knock his figures around, OR I will get him to leave him alone. It's tough for Joshua because he wants to play with Daniel, he just doesn't want Daniel to mess with his stuff.

And yeah - I picked today as it is March 1st.....want to lose 20-25 pounds in 60 days....think I can do it?? (Believe me that is just the "tip" of the iceburg though)

Hey hey...not sure...might check out the SPCA again...a different shelter this time though. Or...I might head to one of the parks for a while. Aquatica opens today but I won't be going there.
