Hi, hello, buenas dias, or should I say Buenos Snowshoes?!

Alison, great pics! You totally made me homesick! In October, I plan to get the same pick on the electric chair ... except I'll be sitting on Raven's lap. Maybe she should sit on mine so I don't crush her.

Janet, so sorry about your mom. Hope she's OK. And, I know what you mean about accumulating stuff. Never fun sorting through all that. When Aunt Stella died (yeah, you know Aunt Stella ...), my other aunts were left trying to figure out what was QVC and Home Shopping garbage and what was actually good stuff. Think they wound up just getting rid of most of it.

Tricia, glad to hear that Joshua did not need anesthesia. Good to know he's not claustrophobic ... I could not have done what he did; brave boy!

Penny, for the love of Pete .... I am feeling sooooo tre neglected. :lmao: We do football, and nascar, now baseball. What about basketball? Who else loves March Madness?! Surely, I am not the only lone duck here?

Damo, thanks for the trip report! We are staying at RPR in October for the first time in about 2 years. I am hoping that at least some of my contacts in the club lounge are still there to arrange for Tower 3, etc. Did you prefer the old rooms or the remodeled rooms? Can't wait to see your pics.

Jennifer, how is tax season going?! I finally sorted out all our tax business and was able to file online, but until that was sorted all out, I was ready to hop on a plane with my papers to have you do them for me. You must have the patience of a saint and not be dyslexic like me. It takes me forever to make sure my numbers are right because I'm forever transposing numbers. I suppose you're not too busy yet, and your mad dash starts late March or so?

Hi to everyone I didn't address personally.

Morning homies!

I don't think I mentioned before that James is on the Robotics team at his high school.

The competition is this weekend in New Hampshire. I can't wait to go. Not so much for the comp, but because it's a few days away from home! DH and I actually stay at a different hotel than the kids. One that is in walking distance to the civic center. So it's a little alone time for us as well!

The kids and their mentors have 6 weeks to build a robot that weighs about 200 lbs. They are given a kit of parts and can modify it any way they want as long as it fits the height and weight requirements. James is the programmer.

There are over 1,500 teams, with at least one in all the states and many foreign countries. Brazil, Chile, Isreal, Mexico etc.

The guy who invented the Segway (Dean Kamen) started this competition about 10 years ago as a way to encourage kids to study math and science.

This year the robots have to race around an oval track, picking up and moving large 42" beach balls either over or under an a 7 foot overpass.

James leaves tomorrow morning and Jim and I leave after work tomorrow. Should be a fun weekend. I'll take some photos of the robot to show you.

I don't have time to catch up and respond to everyone but I do want Tricia to know that I'm so happy all went well with the MRI adventure.

I'll try to catch up tonight after work. Please stop yakking so much!

Hey...I wuz thinkin about you tonite at work...the news said southern Fla lost power due to a fire at a transformer or something like that....did that affect you? They said as far as Orlando and Daytona were affected....I know Disney runs on it's 'own' juice...but was wondering about you, DM, Tammy, Fletch.... :confused3
I didn't even hear about the outage until I looked at today's Orlando Sentinel.

I don't think I have ever vented about how much I hate snow days cause I don't mind when it keeps my DS's home but it brings out oldest DS's friends and 2 of them are the most rude kids you ever met in your life.
I am an easy going guy and shy to some point and never like saying anything out of the way to anyone but man these kids are rude and try coming over and start telling everyone what to do and when you tell them to leave they look at ya like your stupid. :headache:
I tell DS to send them home and he won't and I swear I am going to have a heart attack before its all over and have a pounding headache and chest hurts and makes me kinda wonder what kind of parents these kids have.
Any way hope all of you homies are having a better day :lmao:

Hi to everyone I didn't address personally.

Mr. Jaws LOVES  his basketball. Don't even think about me getting to watch the living room TV when this starts.

Mr. Jaws and JawsJr would disagree with you about the patience.

We are just starting to get busy with our taxes. We have 5-6 corporate bank audits that we start January 8 and are just finishing up (think 1 bank a week). They need to have their financial statements to mail to stockholders by mid-march. Also Corporate USA deadline is March 15.

Janet - since I said bank audit -  for you.

Also, Janet looks like you need :wizard: and :grouphug: for your health.

Damo - looking forward to the Harry Potter pics.

Hi all,
Just quickly checking in. Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm not improving, but keep putting off going to the dr. one more day. I'm bad for that! At this point, I'm up to taking 5 pain pills at a time, & my muscle relaxers more often than I like to. :o Keep the prayers & Mummy dust coming, please.

I think it was Barb who asked about our power. From what I heard is was the east coast from Daytona & Key West that was affected. We live on the west coast & also have Progress Energy, so we weren't affected.

Penny, for the love of Pete .... I am feeling sooooo tre neglected. :lmao: We do football, and nascar, now baseball. What about basketball? Who else loves March Madness?! Surely, I am not the only lone duck here?

Now you're talking my language! There's nothing as great as March Madness! I'm a fan of the future 2008 champs. ;) Yes, that's right! The:

UNC TARHEELS

I'll try to check in more often, but no promises until I'm feeling better. :sad2:

We got to see Third Eye Blind and it was a really good concert!

ThirdEyeBlind.jpg

I wish they were there when I am going! I'm pretty good friends with Brad the drummer, his other band, "Year Long Disaster", has played the club that I am the soundtech at a bunch of times. Very down to earth, you would never know he was in a band that has sold millions of records. When we first met, he was so laid back and cool, I thought he was from one of the local bands!

ahem............i think i pointed out before the list is not in abc order.

yankees should be at the end of the list..........:rolleyes1

Hi all-
Quick fly by....
I'm sorry I can't catch up again and respond to everyone :guilty:

Random thoughts....
Watched AI last night w/ Chrissy(she wasn't really watching the show, she was playing on her Nintendo DS). Matthew and DH were at cub scout pack meeting last night.
Anyways, there are a couple of hotties last night. THe one Australian dude- I think his name is Michael Johns. Says he is from Georgia, but I think he grew up in Australia.
And that 17 yo, David Archuleta. He was the last to perform last nite. Wow! He is good!! He is definitely going to have tons of girls trying to call him!
He is a little cutie! When he sang Imagine, the way he sang it made me cry, even before I saw Paula cry on tv. I was crying with everyone else, it was so good! What a little Italian hottie!
Another guy I thought was real good was Luke Menard- he looks like Orlando Bloom a little bit. Well I think he does.
The guys really have some competition this yr.

Other random thoughts...
I want the show 24 back on and ER back on!! :headache:
They were my faves as well as AI.:thumbsup2
I know the writer's strike had all to do with them being off tv. I think ER may come back in April, but not sure.

Gotta go to a reading and writing event at school tonight w/ the kids.

Ok, hi to all!
Gotta run, hope to bbl.

rose, i like those dudes also.
we have the same taste!

Sounds like you get the weather first Lori...then pass it to Tricia & Todd....just like mac gets it, passes it to Janet and she passes it to me, Mike, Tracie and Jodie :headache:

I will try not to pass any tornado's on we start getting them.

We know baseball keeps you busy....we understand.....

(I'm glad they kept it down too....busy week for me thus far...and it's only Tuesday! :faint: )

Thanks. It looks like it is going to be a very busy season.

Have any of you noticed the trees in Seuss Landing before? When we were there before, I don't remember what they looked like, but I know they didn't have these yellow blooms on them. They look like daffodils or jonquils. Do any of you know what kind they are?
seusslanding.jpg

I'd love to have one in my yard! But they probably wouldn't grow here....:rolleyes1

I have noticed them but never looking so pretty! Have no idea what they are.

It was really great of you to take your sis even if she did complain a lot. I'm sure it is hard for her with him being away.

I am sorry Lori...but the homie rulz state you MUST ride Simpsons at least once :snooty: How can you aid others if you don't experience it yourself? :confused3 Besides, you don't want me to make a 'scene' draggin you to it, do ya? :rolleyes1

Okay! I'll do it once.

"before long"?? :lmao: aw heck!! they doin' it NOW :rotfl2:

So you need a raise already!

Ok.....I need it, huh? I've been tanning.....I'm not that pale! :rotfl2:
It's about a 16 hour drive for us to Orlando. I think it took about 30 minutes for us to get to Deltona from our room. Yes, it was late/early when we got home Monday morning and I went to work Monday morning....found myself nodding off a couple of times. I slept like a baby last night and I need to hit the bed right now!

I knew it would be something along those lines. I can't believe y'all did that over a weekend!

i know what NUTS is and you don't qualify at all for it
That would be me!

yes in a bit.
just got in from chicago.
had to pick up son from train station downtown.

Glad you made it back safe and sound.

i have been pricing air for my trip this fall.

i used the kayak notification and see my rate has increased by $60 in the last 2 weeks.

i didn't buy the air yet.
i was hoping for a drop in price.............not an increase.......

That stinks! Hopefully it will come down soon.

came back to tuck all the homies into bed.

time for forensic files, and well, i do have my priorities............

What? You mean we are not your top priority??????:scared1:

No...it didn't affect me. According to the news, it seemed to be mainly FP&L customers and I have Progress Energy. While some people in this area were affected, I was good.

Morning!

We're all good. Usually when they say southern Florida they are talking Miami.

Glad you both kept your power.

I would like to thank the Academy, my first grade teacher, my stylist, my spiritual advisor, my agent.

Seriously, I will thank Mac for starting the thread, Metro for his post, and Lawrence for his post so I could post my post. Thank you Barb!

:)

Congrats Jennifer!!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Good Morning Gang!.

Lori - hope you are able to keep caught up with us. We'll miss you while you're at the games.

Thanks. I will try to check in every day but don't know if I will be able to keep up with responding & reading everything.

Worls Series Champion Red Birds eh? :lmao: OK I'll play along. :rolleyes1

hi, haven't had time to read thru thread, i'll just be lurking for awhile...my mom fell (again) on Monday am (spidey senses were telling me it was going to be a dosey of a day and it was). They still aren't sure if she's broken anything or not:confused3 after ruling out hips & pelvis are now thinking knee & it's up for exam today.

Apparently, they're keeping her at least until Friday, when hopefully she can come with a walker (she hasn't been out of the bed since monday am, will need to complete rehab 1st)

problem is many old folk tend to "collect crap"; and we've been tossing stuff/re-arranging her furniture for the last 2 days (deja vu, same thing several times over the last 10 years-sigh)

as a bonus, appears as though i threw out my back, today is a break day; laundry only & dh dr appt.

that's what i get for making fun of pixie dust i suppose:guilty: , at this point we'll take all the good thoughts you can sling at us.

Janet - So sorry about your mom. I hope nothing is broke.

 Can't believe you threw out your back on top of it! :headache: Feel better.

Good morning homies
hope everyone is doing well and will see how much I can post today cause school is out today since it snowed here last night which means I have been up since 5:00 am and had to have DW into work by 6:00 am and roads were slick and my DS's aren't up yet but when they do more than likely to get online with thier ps3 and since my pc is on the fritz I use my laptop and its wireless connection and when they get on that thing my singnal goes low but what can ya do kids and thier games :lmao: :lmao:

Hope the kiddos don't drive you nuts!

Morning Homies!

We now have a special place at Margaritaville for our "I was here in ...". I'll post pics later.

Trip was great except for the 5 hour flight yesterday that was supposed to be just over 2. Stupid thunderstorms kept us all sitting in the airplane on the tarmac waiting to leave for over 2 hours.

Our portofino suite was lovely (no special upgrades or even any response to our email request for villa). We had a pool view and were very happy with the room. The weather was usually in the seventies. Parks weren't busy and we got to do everything.

The Pirates and Princess party was a lot of fun and not crowded. The biggest surprise was the number of adult females dressed up as pirate wenches. My son labelled them the "yo ho's". That about summed it up. We stayed at the AKL which we won't do again. What a huge waste of money that was. The room was so small (no way to fit 5 people in that room!) and we paid over $350/night. The toilet ran continuously all night which was annoying so it always sounded like someone was showering. The resort was nice enough. Disney's magical express lost our information but that worked out fine. They picked the kids up 4 hours before their flight going back which was pretty silly considering you don't go through customs in Orlando to get to Toronto.

At Royal Pacific we had a King Suite (room 1201). It overlooked the jungly area in the front and was fine. We got our welcome gift the night before we left and only after having to remind them. We had gotten our welcome gift at Portofino the first night. The little gifts at turndown at RPR were nice and the chocolates at turndown at PBH were nice too.

I think I prefer the PBH just because the bathrooms are so much larger. We found that if you walk across to the Hard Rock driveway and then through their parking lot to the parks, it is only about a 6 minute walk to Universal Studios.

Simpsons is still undergoing a lot of work. Not much to show there. The Harry Potter area is coming along nicely. We've got pictures from the top of Flying Unicorn which I will post later.

All in all, a great trip.

Can't wait to see the pics! Thanks for the report. I would have never paid what you did for AK. It is not worth that. Heck I don't even think the Grand Floridian or Poly are worth it!

We woke up this morning to temps in the 20s. If you are keeping track, it was 77 here on Monday, 65 and thunderstorms yesterday, freezing and snow flurries today.

Yes, I said snow flurries. As soon as they started falling, the boys lost their collective minds. Normally, if a dozen flakes of snow fall in a row, everything in Georgia shuts down. However, since they pulled the trigger too early last time (remember when we were the only county in Georgia that closed school?), they did NOT close school today. All of the counties around us (who didn't close last time) ARE closed.

Joshua told me that this is the WORST SNOW DAY EVER!

It's not like there is much snow on the ground. Just enough to confuse the spring plants that were starting to do their thing:

Daffodils.jpg

But, trust me, if they hadn't been stupid about closing too soon before, schools around here would be closed today. Oh, well.

I hope it doesn't kill your flowers. Crazy weather! Stay warm.

Hi, hello, buenas dias, or should I say Buenos Snowshoes?!

Penny, for the love of Pete .... I am feeling sooooo tre neglected. :lmao: We do football, and nascar, now baseball. What about basketball? Who else loves March Madness?! Surely, I am not the only lone duck here?

Hi to everyone I didn't address personally.

Well I used to love to watch basketball but they have let the rules go so much it drives me nuts. I like high scoring games too, not the 50-60 point games that happen so often. Of course with my Sooners rarely getting into March Madness any more I watch it even less.

Glad you got your tax crap worked out!

Even gladder (hee, hee) that you are popping in to visit us.

Morning homies!

I don't think I mentioned before that James is on the Robotics team at his high school.
