Oh, and Lori - my lunch story. Our district does the same thing - where you can make automated payments and get warning notices. Well, last year Matt decided he would NOT buy hot lunch - too many kids and he refused to wait in line. I gave him $10 in cash to put in his account - just in case. Well, he spent like $1.50 one day on snacks in about October and never touched it after that.

Well, one day around April I was checking my account for one of the other two kids and saw that suddenly now Matt's balance had an account of $108.50 (instead of $8.50)! I checked my bank account (didn't have him linked to it anyways but thought they might have somehow pulled it up through my other two kids, even though they were at different schools). Nope - I hadn't been charged.

Tried to explain it to the online website folks who insisted it wasn't their problem. Called the HS and explained it to them. They said they'd take care of it. A month passed - still an extra $100 there. Went to the district office and explained it in person to the Food Service director. Promised me it would be taken care of. Another month passes - about time for school to be out. Money still there. Called Food Service director. Says (quite snippily :snooty: ) that the money isn't REALLY there and I should stop worrying about it. :confused3

Come fall - the money is still there. Matt starts buying lunch every day and quickly depletes the extra $100. What else should I have done?! :rolleyes1

(Did I tell you guys this story before? If so, I'm sorry!)

And I didn't get a chance to catch up with you all this morning because I spent FOUR hours on the phone with an old friend who needed help planning a Disney trip! And you know we all excel at that type of thing!

So I went through the entire thing with her on the phone (she's not a real computer person). Priced out air for a zillion dates, found about 10 choices of houses and townhouses for her to choose from, priced rental cars, got her the rates for everything from 4 to 10 days at WDW with all the options or not, got her Universal rates, Sea World, and Kennedy Space Center. No, they won't end up doing all that but it gave her the prices and choices.

You know you have a long way to go when the first question is "So the 'Magical Kingdom place' - that means Disney, right?" :rotfl:

I guess if I can't go, I can at least live vicariously through others!

I visited Hawaii because oldest DS was invited to play in a football tourny/scouting event when he graduated from hs.

Will have to get them scanned one of these days so I can post some.

Would love to see those pix....

OMG you alll.... last night I earned my paycheck and then some. Instead of being a happy drunk last night, I was a tired, overwhelmed cranky pants who is also in mourning over losing her candidate. You totally did not want to hear from me last night!

Barb, I am glad you told them to take that job and shove it! Good for you and have fun at the tanning salon. Do you get to tan for free now?

Tricia, cute pics! Glad Joshua's assembly went well.

I really want to catch up, and I know you are all ANXIOUSLY waiting with BATED breath and FLUTTERING hearts to hear about Miss Savvy's latest adventures, but we are going into the city in a bit for dinner and Mary Poppins --- this would be me, mom, and sissy as Mike wouldn't be caught dead at a Broadway play, much less Mary Poppins. Hope to catch up tomorrow.

Happy Friday, every one. Don't work too hard.

Oh, PS, I have to share that for the first time ever, when we have no intentions of using it, I actually received one of those elusive DISNEY PIN codes in my email this morning. Howdy flippin do!

xxx

1. I heard yesterday he pulled out of the race...immediately thought of you  ..my condolences...

2. I have no idea if I'm tanning for free....(one would think since it's a job requirement  )...guess I'll find everything out on Monday ;)

3. I hope you and the girls have a wonderful time at the show tonite.....can't wait to hear all about it :goodvibes

4. I (well, actually DH) got one of those postcards with the coveted PIN code for Disney hotels too :confused3 Threw it away.... gasp! :lmao:

Then band teacher and I have a little small talk sometimes. A handful of parents stay during practice outside the cafeteria(maybe 10 or so). I and another mom chit-chat sometimes while the kids band practicing. Most parents drop off and pick up their kids outside in the school parking lot.
Oh well, I don't want the band teacher getting the wrong idea.
But I noticed this past weeks' afternoon band practice, he wasn't yelling at the kids so much as he has been and he had a spring in his step. I guess that's a good thing in a way ;)
I just need to get over this infatuation. I don't know if I'm right or not, maybe he is flirting with me? I don't know :confused3 I'm going to have be careful tho.
Thanks for letting me know I'm normal :)

First, you're only as 'normal' as the rest of US here :lmao: (which ain't sayin' much....really...)

Second, I don't think he's flirting per se....I think he likes the fact you stay and take an genuine interest in the music Matthew is playing.... Since it doesn't seem many parents "connect" with music teachers, he's probably thrilled.... is HE married? Your age? :confused3

Okay, guess I should watch something besides the Disney Channel every once in a while. Did he pull out of the race? I had no idea.

::yes::

So I found out today what the BIG deal is about CHEESE SANDWICHES .. I found out that if the school lets these kids eat hot lunch and not pay for it sooner or later the school gets a bill from the food division and has to pay for the hot lunches. The kids who are not paying are now getting CHEESE SANDWICHES because there is no payment on file for them . This is where it gets crazy some kids really did pay and the school messed it up so now there is a huge deal being made about it . All I can say is I am glad my kid eats COLD LUNCH :thumbsup2 .

WOW! At least they don't deny our kids the lunch they want..... geez...treat them like inmates why dontcha? Give 'em bread and water...... :sad2: Ridiculous!

My DH had parent teacher conferences and well there was a nice woman ,she is divorced and well she HITTING ON MY DH during Parent teacher . Since that I have supplied his class room with many a family photo :lmao: .
 & :lmao: ...good for you! :thumbsup2

:rolleyes2

For a dinner suggestion - I vote for Lobster! :rotfl:

cheese sandwich? :confused3

.... last year Matt decided he would NOT buy hot lunch - too many kids and he refused to wait in line.

Come fall - the money is still there. Matt starts buying lunch every day and quickly depletes the extra $100. What else should I have done?! :rolleyes1

That's a big reason Bubba won't buy hot (especially on 'pizza' days)....too long a line, then he doesn't get a chance to eat everything...OH, and this is good.... He normally will not eat the salad or fruit, so he asks to NOT be given it. Nope. They say he HAS to have it. This is dumb to me....why waste it? :confused3 AND, he can't even substitue the "sides" he doesn't want in place of another drink.... :confused3 So, he was taking his OWN 12oz. container of applejuice... ;) ....but, he rarely buys hot lunch...just as well for him....HE tells ME what he wants....don't matter to me

If it was there...I would have told him to spend it too....not like you didn't TRY to get them to remove it :confused3

non -meat dinner ideas

have breakfast for dinner.
make something unusual like, waffles, choc chip pancakes with whip cream, designer omelettes or bagel egg sandwiches and for dessert a fruit bowl

or how about fondue night.

tuna fish sandwiches with make your own sundaes

grilled cheese and tomato soup

Rose - I am clueless. Hope the others can give you some help.

was it a 40% off one? I'd book CR so fast & rent my points your head would spin:rotfl:

lori - i prefer the cinnabons fresh outta the oven & driipping in gooey goodness...drool...DH prefers the ones that have cooled & they pkg them up in the park-cheaper too:yay:

have to admit my very fav is the funnel cake joint around the corner from the cinnabon place @ IOA. Only time i ever eat them, topped with ice cream/strawberries & whipped cream...enough calories for a month.

really hungry now, off to find some cheese

Mikey really wants to stay at the CR some day. Maybe that is what I will do for a day or two if my wait list doesn't come through. I think I am probably going to add another day to our ressies at PRP. That will get me the Super Saver rate too.

I love the hot ones too Janet. Of course I can eat the cooled ones. Funnel cake I can do without. I've had too much of it in the past.

So I found out today what the BIG deal is about CHEESE SANDWICHES .. Oh I bet there were problems with that one. I know I wouldn't be happy if my kid got stuck with a cheese sandwich when she had money in her account. Not good at all. :sad2:

::yes:: be my guess....

It just seems strange when you guys talk about what time it is getting dark and it is still so light here. It seems like you should be next door.

Same thing w/ Ry...put $20 in his account in first grade....bought maybe a handful of time....(usually takes/prefers cold lunch). All of sudden, I'm getting notices and phone calls his account is -$2.?? Um....what happened to notifying me with $5 left? :confused3 I wrote them a nasty note and told them not to harrass ME when they screwed up..(AND he doesn't buy hot lunch but 3 times a year or so!) :snooty:

Well it isn't that Ally prefers the cold lunch, it's just that most of theirs is terrible. I'm surprised they have any kids that eat at school. They won't even let them have ketchup.:scared1: Why? And they can't have anything but milk to drink.

And I am just waiting for the next time someone mentions taking vending machines out of the schools. I have been saving the lunch menus this year. It is nothing but fried junk.

He can read what we write....just can't post.

Hi Lawrence!

I'm not sure WHERE Daniel is, because they had their pediatric neurologist appt. this morning for Joshua..... Hope all goes well :goodvibes

Can't wait for the results. I hope everything is perfect.

What can ya do? You tried. Free lunch! I am sure it was someone else's money and they put it in the wrong account then couldn't figure out where it went.

Would love to see those pix....

I bet you would love the ones from Universal even more! Was looking through those last night too. Mikey was sooooooo cute, 19 months. I will get to it when I can.

So...since you are waitlisted, you don't have a place booked, or you do and if your first choice opens up, you get switched?

I'd love to know what rate you're getting at "PRP".... :lmao: (sorry....HAD to)

Milk or a juice or even bottled water....what about the kids lactose intolerent? :confused3

Yeah...I think the 'fried' is worse than the sugar in the vending machines.... I can see the point of getting the sodas out tho....there is nothing good about soda...it's ALL sugar :sad2:

this is the elementary school

my kids eat at school most of the time, but there are days that I pack for them......if your account is in the negative, you are allowed 1-2 lunches before they won't serve you anymore. I just do not like how they tell the KIDS to go home and tell someone you need money in your account :confused3 :confused3 WTH - they dont' remember that all of the time!

How do they expect kids to remember that??? Heck, Bubba can't remember what I tell him 5 minutes to the next. :rolleyes1

all during the year they have pizza or mozzarella sticks on fridays anyways

the High School is "where its at" as far as the food goes :confused3

who the heck knows why

No, I haven't booked anything else yet. I know I can get in at SSR or OKW either one if I don't decide to do a regular resort. Actually I am even thinking we will do SW & the new water park after Universal so we may just stay a couple of nights over there.

I'd love to know what rate you're getting at "PRP".... :lmao: (sorry....HAD to)

Have you not heard of the newest resort? It is the Potter Rowling's Palace, for the new Harry Potter land.

I am so glad the tag fairy doesn't visit us much.

Here is Ally's menu from January:

Chicken & Noodles
Nachos
Chicken Fried Steak
Hamburgers (soy burgers)
Chicken Fajitas
Pigs in blanket
Frito Pie
Steak Fingers
Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Spaghetti (every kid I know says this is absolutely awful - how do you screw up spaghetti:confused: )
BBQ Weiners
Chicken Fried Steak - again
Burritos
Taquiots
Steak Fingers - again
Tacos
BBQ Chicken

So I guess there are a couple of non junk food meals. The rest is junk.

Thanks, Barb, for your response.
Yeah, I think not too many parents connect with the band teachers as much.
I'm sure it gets kinda mundane to teach the kids and not get appreciated as much, from the students and some parents I suppose.
He doesn't go to student conferences at all. Matthew does get a grade of some sort in the report card for band, which I had no clue they get graded for band, until I got his first report card this school yr at the end of November.
As of if band teacher is married, I think he is. He did wear a wedding ring at the band concert. I haven't noticed a wedding ring at band practices at all, but I'm not actively looking for one.
I know he has a son b/c Matthew told me band teacher wasn't in one of the days b/c his son was sick. So I don't know if he's married, separated, maybe wife works alot, etc :confused3

Anyways, thanks for everyone's input. I needed to get all this off my chest and move on.

I'm done talking about all this :)

ou're moving into a snow globe?? lol

jennifer - how about that buzzer beater? Have u ever been to Petersen vent Center-very :cool1: (some roof issues/construction tho)...my oldest DS had the great luck to be interning their when in college (robert morris) and got appointed as the interim Event Center Mgr - nice resume builder! How nice you'll get to stay put for a while! Like the cheery song too!

.
No I did not like the buzzer beater! No, I have never been to Petersen. It looked like the press seats were really good. But they only let a small section of students sit down low. We don't usually travel to any games. DH likes to watch on TV and only attends a few home bball games a year. The football season is only 5-7 home games a year, so it is more manageable.

:)

My school district has a pretty good lunch plan. For elmentary and middle school (through 8th grade), students let teachers know, or "sign" up for hot lunch. Then you are sent a bill every month for the hot lunches (and breakfast) your child ate. This way - they don't have to take money with them. I don't know what they do if you are delinquent on your account. Mr. Jaws always pays the bills on time.;)

:) Jennifer

Speaking of school lunches...when I was in junior high, whenever they mowed the grass we had spinach for lunch...that's a little too creepy! :rotfl2:

I LOVED the spaghetti lunches in high school and the sticky rice was yum!

Okay, I'm finally reading through all the stuff the school gave us. Directly from the handout, also posted on the website, is the official course description for one of the required courses for 8th graders. Here you go:

8th GRADE
Technology and Careers – With WISCareers (web-based portfolio) as the foundation, students will further demonstrate knowledge and skills in technology and career standards by integrating them into there electronic portfolio. In 8th grade their will be a special emphasis on high school and career mapping and the Wisconsin Covenant program.

Who can find the two errors in one paragraph? (Hint - they're in red!)Who thinks whoever wrote the paragraph doesn't understand the difference between there and their? :rotfl: Wow - I don't correct people on a message board, but you'd think they'd proofread a school publication!

mac - many thanx for the HHN primer, can i ask you again in 7 months;) , how much is express pass for HHN?

random musings after 1st 2 beers, the moon looks very odd tonight:confused3

most hot dogs have very little in the way of beef, more of a mystery meat - get kosher

ds's best friend has flunked out of 3 different skools (WVU, Pitt & Penn State)...now mommy (local politico) got him accepted to State Police Academy:rolleyes1 my reach doesn't stretch quite that far

jodie - i'm downloading all the new order songs i lost in the computer purge;) (i'm forgetting one i think - bizarre love triangle, you spin me round, round, true faith & blue monday...think there's one more i like:confused:

feel free my friends to throw out some golden oldies so that I may pirate them for my booty. Drawing a blank other than techno lol

Smiths
Erasure
Clash
ABC
Justin Timberlake - he brought sexy back,
UB40
Bob Marley

enjoying driving me other half bonkers (made some off-the cuff smart A remark earlier; enough to po me royally:mad: rarely does he get my goat) - told him to crack open another bottle & go kill some troops (Command & Conquer) whilst i get comfortably numb.:idea:last man standing wins
