I hate my dentist. There, now you know.

Do you have a new reason to hate your dentist? Or is this just carryover hatred?

Hi all-
Quick fly by....
Chrissy is home sick today from school.

Update on my dad. I think they took out his NG tube and starting him on a clear liquid diet yesterday. According to my mom, she doesn't think he tolerated the clear liquid diet yet, but maybe today he will? My mom didn't go visit last night b/c she has a bad cold and cough. Prayers and good thoughts for my mom please. Thanks!

I hope you and Chrissy start to feel better soon. Prayers and good thoughts continue for your dad... and now your mom too!

Morning all!

We had a great time at Robotics last weekend. I'll try to post some photos in the next few days.

Here's one of the missing ones Mac!

Looking forward to the pics.

I finished twilight, the book marcie recommended last night.
all of it.

off to get book 2 and 3 , and book four is out in a few months. saw the movie info. looks good. real good.

So, you liked the book then, huh?

Is "nap" a code like "crosswords"?

:lmao:

Penny I know how ya feel about the snow and ice cause I think it goes from here where I live and reaches to where your at :scared: and they are saying before its all over we will get from 6 + inches of snow and thats more than we have had all winter :confused3

We've got snow in our forecast overnight tonight, but since it is currently 50 degrees I don't think it'll stick even if it does snow. :confused3

What's up with the golden homie award?

Barb hands out the Golden Homie Award for us to add to our signature... whenever the mood strikes her. :goodvibes

Guess I am excited that I will have no children here tonight - they are all sleeping over other houses!!!

WhoooooooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

You want mine for the night so you don't get lonely?

That thread is confusing to me. Some of the posters are passionate about the vaccine not being the cause. They refuse to believe they allowed something to be placed into their child's body causing this & making them at fault. Others think vaccination being the cause means they didn't do anything wrong & therefore exonorates them. Either way, I don't see how the parent is at fault. We do what we think is best for our children & pray we were right. That's all any of us can do. My heart goes out to any parent struggling with the thought they may have caused their child's illness or disability. :sad1:

The OP is a doctor and she has started threads on the subject before. She feels that because this generation hasn't lived through the epedimics of the diseases that immunizations protect you from, we don't fully understand what we could be exposing our children (and the children they come in contact with) to.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Her stand, repeatedly, is that something is causing the rise in Autism, but she wants to focus on researching what that is... not blaming the vaccines. There are so many chemicals that we routinely consume now that we didn't 30 or 40 years ago.

I dunno.

What shocks me is how... I'll borrow your word... passionate people are on one side or the other. We all look at the evidence and make the best possible choice we can for our children and then hope we've made the right one. That's true about ANY parenting decision. The sucky part is that we don't get to find out for a few decades or so if we did the right thing or not.

PS eye dr. appt went bad, REALLY bad...have a month to decide between surgery or drops...had a good boo-hoo & wound up losing my glasses on the way home...i'm pulling covers over my head REALLY early tonight.

Aw, geez, Janet.

Why the surgery or drops? Whats wrong with your eyes? What are the pros and cons on each side?

I'm thinking of you.

let's call it the "g" word:sad2: always one of those irrational fears i've had...looks like it bit me in the butt afterall...funny part is i have near-perfect long distance vision:rolleyes1

it sucks a duck, and i shall ask the landshark & his friends tonight what he thinks i should do

well looks like horrible weather for tomorrow.

lovely.

it is about 40 out, and damp, and the temp is supposed to drop and freezing rain is going to hit.

I will be trapped in this house.
i might as well be drinking tap water.

metro - i'm at the part where he's just returned to rental home after having the art gallery give an opin on his work; i shall hang in there!
You meaned he just returned to Big Pink? ;)

Hang in there...it DOES get better. ::yes::

Here's the stuffed french toast recipe. It comes from a Bed & Breakfast in Bar Harbor Maine.

Blueberry Stuffed French Toast

8 slices (1 1/2" thick) heavy bread with crust removed - cubed. (Boule round works well or sourdough)
2 packages (8 ounce) cream cheese - cubed
1 1/2 C. fresh or frozen blueberries

Beat together:
12 eggs (can use half eggs + half egg beaters)
1/3 C maple syrup
2 C milk
dash of cinnamon
dash of sugar

Put half the bread cubes into the bottom of a 9 X 13 baking pan. Top with cubed cream cheese, distributing evenly. Top with blueberries. Top with the rest of the bread cubes. Pour the beaten mixture over all. Cover and refrigerate overnight. The next morning bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. The top should be brown and the filling almost set. Cool slightly.
Serve with warm maple syrup.

Don't use fat free cream cheese for the french toast. It comes out to watery. Low fat is OK.

Janet - I have a friend who has been doing the drops for 5 years. Seems to be working for her.

Sounds like a sound plan to me!

I was thinking POR or maybe Coronado Springs for next year.
:thumbsup2

Have any of you tried that Jif Peanut Butter and Honey?
Think it has a yellow cap. Saw it yesterday at the store and was curious about it. :confused3

We are in for more ice/snow/freezing rain Friday nite into Sunday. :scared:

the good news is we change clocks sunday morning:hourglass

two restaurant questiosn for you.(me, always planning)
have any of you eaten at Rose and Crown Pub? or Artist Point?

yes, eating some of the honey peanut butter now. it is good.

i have eaten a few lunches and about 10 dinners at rose and crown.
what questions do you have about it?

i usually get an adr for 8 in the evening so i have a table on the porch area for illuminations viewing.

Good morning!

I hate my dentist. There, now you know.

Hope everyone is having a great day. :goodvibes

i hate your dentist too.
did you ever get the money back or your new book back from that dentist yet?

Morning all!

We had a great time at Robotics last weekend. I'll try to post some photos in the next few days.

I have not had time to go back and read all 30?!? some pages I have missed. If I missed anything important, will someone please fill me in? Mac - do you have cliff notes?!

I hope everyone is doing well and if not here's a

you need cliff notes?
from what page should i start?

in the daytime with all the lights on?
did you leave all the curtains opened also?

and did this happen on wednesday..........

Jodie & Mary, Congrats on the new bed & mattress! :cool1:

We always did the same thing. We'd let our DS choose a prize that we'd buy for him at the store & forget the fundraiser. I would but a thing or 2, just so he sold something. After awhile, he quit bringing them home at all. His choice. He didn't want to have to bother with carrying the junk home. Worked for me!

That flippin' "Hello" is really neat!

I'm staying far away from all you humpers. :scared1:

That sounds cute. You should see my son's room. :sad2: He has a TB Buccaneers room, which he hates now. :headache: So, now he has a room painted 1/2 red & 1/2 pewter w/ Buccaneers border in between. On the walls, there's autographed jerseys, tennis rackets, framed posters, footballs, etc. Along with those, there's band posters & tacky signs. He also has poems that he & his girlfriend have written & pictures she's drawn pinned to his ceiling. Yes, it looks just as good as it sounds. :scared:

I'll just sleep on the balcony. Less mess to clean. ;)

we will have maid service twice daily.
you won't even remember what a broom looks like after we move to the new dump.

this is key! everytime i went seemed as though everyone else had a smoke in one hand & a drink in the other:confused3 good luck.

sharon - send that french toast rec. my way! I rarely make it & when i do just "wing it".

metro - i'm at the part where he's just returned to rental home after having the art gallery give an opin on his work; i shall hang in there!

i read ahead.
it's ok janet.
my dad has taken the drops for over 20 years now.
and, he has had the surgery to lower the pressure.
his runs about 29 and that is not good.

i went down for his surgery this year and he did fine for an old coot.
he drove the next day.

don't worry.
the surgery will lower the pressure quickly.
the drops you need to be prompt on the time.

glaucoma runs in our family, both sides.
i have more relatives with eye disease than cancer.

Count me in as a Survivor Fan - seen every episode since day 1. Good to see that Kathy and Chet (the weakest) are still in it.

Perhaps Joel got a little KARMA for backstabbing Mikey and his girlfriend.

:)
Yeah..but his biggest problem was...it was all about him...he didn't care about anyone else there and people saw that.

And TODD....yep...I watch Survivor....LOVED that Joel was shocked it was him! :lmao:  :lmao: Good for him....and Cirie...(altho, not a Cirie fan, good for her!
I didn't like Cirie last week but she's got a good head on her shoulders.

That knee injury of Penner's seems pretty bad. The clips for next week show the doctor telling him it's infected and if the infection gets into his bloodstream, it could be fatal. :scared1:

You meaned he just returned to Big Pink? ;)

Speaking of pink reminds me of this.

James at the Robotics Competition. He would be so mad at me if he knew I was posting this. I'm thinking of using it for his senior class slideshow! I also have one of him when he was 3 in his sister's dance tutu! :lmao: :lmao:

Forgot to say "Happy Friday!!" to the Homies - whoops!!

Guess I am excited that I will have no children here tonight - they are all sleeping over other houses!!!

WhoooooooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

Tracie - we are letting DS13 have four friends over tonight - although DH said no sleepovers - they are to leave at 10pm. DS keeps asking if he can have the living room to himself. (his room is not big enough for them, and the downstairs is too cold (and a mess) right now) :)

Hi all-
I guess I need to vent about something
A girlfriend of mine wants to chuck the friendship. Actually, she is a friend of all of us(me, DH, and the kids) from church.
She hasn't talked to us in a few months. She mostly was with my kids during children's church, as a special friends volunteer for a few yrs. The kids haven't needed her anymore during children's church b/c they graduated out of needing an aide for quite awhile. Our friend would still keep in contact with us and babysit for us once in awhile. Back in October, we kinda needed her to babysit b/c we were dealing with issues with Don's dad and we needed a sitter for the day. We wanted her to babysit at our place but she wanted to do it at her place(she lives 20 min away from us). I can't read people's minds, but I guess she was upset we wanted her to sit at our place b/c our place is closer to the highway we needed to use to get to see Don's father 2 hrs away. My friend never mentioned she was hurt by it? So I guess she cut off our friendship since October. She just told me today in an email she "wants to move on and she was only with us for a season of time and it had to do with the babysitting thing from October". The thing is, she never tells us if we hurt her feelings, etc. She had hurt my feelings once a couple of yrs back when she cut off being with Chrissy at children's church without discussing it with us. She just said one weekend that she is no longer needed and that was it :confused3 I like my friend, but I cannot read her mind on things, KWIM?
She just does what she wants in the relationship without discussing it with us. DH and I were very blessed we got to know her and she helped out with our kids. She is special with our kids. She is the only babysitter we have besides my mom and my mom can't babysit now, not with my dad sick.
My friend knows we appreciate her when she has helped out with the kids, babysat, etc, as we have told her alot and we bought her gifts, etc. She is older than me and has been divorced for quite a long time.
I guess I get upset with friends that say "I only wanted to know you for a season and that's it". I guess it really bothers me. :sad1:
Ok, that's my vent.

Wanted to let you all know that I appreciate all of you here, your friendship, in this box, even tho I'm not here as much :flower3: :goodvibes

I do need a babysitter. Btw Mac- you wouldn't mind coming down here sometime to babysit the kids so DH and I can have a date night sometime??

Rose, that's a tough thing. Personally, I think a friend should attempt to resolve a problem, hurt feeling, whatever, before walking away from a friendship. Saying, "Hey! You stepped on my feelings." and giving the other person a chance to explain... or say they didn't mean too... or apologize... or whatever they feel... is, in my opinion, a nice healthy way to keep a friendship strong. If the hurt feelings can't be resolved, move on. Moving on without attempting to resolve anything is, again in my opinion, immature.
