Tricia - question on the cheese straws. About how many does one batch make?
Also, are they best eaten warm out of the oven or are they ok at room temp?

Hi Lawrence, always nice to put a name with a screenname! Glad to hear you're doing better. No fun to be sick over the holidays.

Sharon, I never used goldpoints. Sounds like a great deal! Probably too good a deal, eh? In the year that I've been using ebates, I've gotten checks that amount to over $100. They send you a hard check. They don't take your bank account information or anything. Plus, they have double rebates rewards sometimes; hence the 34% rebate on my bag. :thumbsup2 Think I paid $9.30 per ink cartridge going through ebates as well.

Gemma, hope your puppy is going to be OK. So heartbreaking to watch a pet go through any pain. Glad to have you back.

Oh, yes, Alison, your CD was over $60 right? What's the current number? :goodvibes

lol yeah since I was asked and since I have put in post about me and DW some still thought I was the Dw:scared1: :lmao:

Guess I'll have to stop on the way and pick up Rose and Mac in Chicago! (You forgot Mac?! ) Katie's somewhere out in NY by you guys isn't she? You could catch her on the way to Jersey! Or, I'm thinking if we're planning this for next October, instead of walking my normal 5-6 miles here each morning, I could just head down now! I should make it by October! At least I'd probably have less of this -6 weather junk the further I got!

thanks homie, you got my back. what a pal !

Nah....nobody forgets mac.... :goodvibes She's ALREADY THERE preparing for our arrival :thumbsup2

well, sometimes i'm forgotten but that never bothers me.
once when the parents moved they told me they wouldn't tell me where they were moving to. mom was in a really bad mood that morning, so i went to school and worried all day...... i was a stupid kid....:scared:

Hey Kentucky....(btw, you have a real name or nickname? ...I don't want to call you "ky" :headache: )
Not sure what it is with all the tummy troubles around here lately..... hope your belly feels better soon :wizard: :grouphug:

hope lawrence feels better soon.
you noticed i never mentioned the possibility of having a shower for ky07 as i knew he was a him and not a her....

Back to work shortly.....

(not a bad day thus far....last client gave me $100 for Xmas :woohoo: )

lucky ducky.....

Tricia...I hope Daniel feels better soon.

I had the worst day ever today. Penny (my dog) was good this morning and even ate some ham! Then we went to the vets for her injections and came home again when she took a turn for the worse. She got really bad and had to go to the emergency vets for an operation and we thought she was going to have to be put down. Well....me and my mum just sat and cried and cried for hours. Everywhere I looked were her toys..her bed- everything. The vets have called recently and said her operation went well and if her results from the tumur come back as non-cancerous then there is no reason for her not to make a full recovery so Im hoping that the tumour was benign.

Im back in Liverpool on 5th January and it would kill me if she had to be put down and then I had to leave or if she was still really sick. We've decided as a family that we don't want her to suffer so if it's cancerous then we will put her down which nearly killed us all to say.

sending you lots of mummy dust gemma.
doggy will be better real soon.

someone should go back and repost gemma's pictures when she was out having fun at the club that one night.....

hope daniel is better by the time tracie reads up on the thread

Hi Marci - It always makes me happy to hear about other kids making stupid decisions too! :rolleyes1 James got his first car not too long ago ( a hand me down from Grammie). When he got it, I told him to have an extra key made. Nagged him about it for a few weeks. Well, yesterday he went outside to warm up the car before school and preceeded to lock the keys in it. I let him stew about it for awhile, had him figure out what he was going to do. Than got out the extra key I had made. (Cause I knew this would happen!) He was pretty relieved. :lmao:

i would love to have the kid that makes the stupid decisions, either sharon's or marcie's...........i'll take them both for one of mine.:rolleyes1
heck, i'll take them all as long as no one has the chicken pox.

Mac - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the results were favorable. Will be thinking of you on Friday. :grouphug:
I bet the cats won't let you out the door without their breakfast!

well, since it took marcie's hubby 11 hours to get home from st louis, it might take me as long also. another storm will hit here on friday.
i forgot about the cats.
now i need to get someone to feed them and give the meds out to baby.

the males in this household hate to make the cat take the meds.
they feel she won't love them anymore if they force her to take them.

that's my job

Janet - Are you thinking of Divinity? My gram used to make it. I make it once in awhile. It's a PIA.

I try not to bore you guys with his college search. We're still waiting to hear from Rochester Inst of Tech. He got accepted to Embry-Riddle in Daytona. They offered him a $45K merit scholarship. He also got accepted at Worcester Poly Tech. They haven't mailed out their scholarships yet. I would like to see him go to Worcester (WPI) cause they belong to a consortium of 10 schools that he could take courses at. Plus WPI offers more engineering degrees. He would like to go to Embry cause he wants to get his private pilots license. Embry sits on the Daytona airport. It will be interesting to see which school he chooses. But I've warned him, seeing as I have a financial interest in this, if one school offers way more $$$$ than he needs to be seriously thinking of that school.
As Barb would say - Mommy brag ahead - James was 20 points short of a perfect score on his SAT's. He's scored 4 and 5's out of 5 on his AP exams and he's a presidential scholar for having a perfect score on his PSATs. So those darn schools better come up with some serious money for him!!! - Mommy brag over -

brag all you want. i love hearing about success in young people. that makes me feel good! the future of our country lies in the hands of our youth

Tricia - hope the little guy is feeling better soon. Seems to be alot of stomach stuff going around too. Are you back to normal yet? Healthwise that is?!? ;)

check in time tricia, are you doing ok now?

i think that is a sweet pic of lawrence and his better half in the avator.

Alison - how did you make out with your e-bay auction?
It ends tonight and it's still at $68, which is extremely exciting! I thought I'd tell you homies on here in case any of you had one you were willing to part ways with for some extra $!

Hey MAC!
No, you must have missed it... I'm selling my IOA CD on eBay. It ends in an hour and 19 minutes.

hey Lawrence - u a trucker? Tuff job DH went into the steel mills (yep, we still have them) when he got out out of service/college & they were paying way more $ than he could find elsewhere.

when times got bad for the industry 15 years or so ago, he went to skool to learn to drive the big rigs:eek: . He only drives between plants a couple times in an 8 hour shift (guess he's the world's shortest hauler lol); mostly tri axles & tractor trailers w/coils & slabs.

Now they want to use mostly outside drivers & aren't doing new hires, so DH has been working 12 hour shifts (starts tomorrow @ 3 am:confused3 ).

fyi, i had my ebay auction pulled again:mad: for leftover SW credit. Must find the right category to slip it thru:rolleyes1 , will try travel-other this go-around.

Tricia - question on the cheese straws. About how many does one batch make?
Also, are they best eaten warm out of the oven or are they ok at room temp?

One batch makes about 100 cheese straws. That may sound like a huge amount, but I can usually store one batch in a gallon ziploc bag... and it only fills the bag a little over halfway.

They can be eaten warm, but they crisp a little when they cool and I prefer them at room temp. They come out almost like a cracker consistency. Almost.

Remember, don't bake them so long that you see browning on the top. Really, they don't hardly change color at all. The bottom goldens up a little and that's what I go by. If the top browns, mine always taste burnt. Blech.

Good night all going to have to get offline for the night and to all that have said hi to me by my real name Lawrence thank you for making me feel welcome.:santa: :santa:

Mac - was thinking about it earlier today...

wanna try & get on a team for WAPASDI if they offer it again this year? :rotfl: :lmao:

DH thought of it & threatened me with dire consequences if i even think about itpopcorn:: be my support group-just say no:laughing:

Thanks Tricia - I'm going to make them on Sunday.

What's WAPASDI? Sure does sounds bad!

I have been trying to (in the words of MAC the GREAT) "ketchup"! But it's difficult when you miss a few days!
Mac, I hope everything goes well for your dad on Friday! I'll say a prayer for you!
Gema! Girl, don't stay away for so long! I was worried about you...you know how moms are. I think me and your other "DIS Moms" are gonna have to gang up on that hoochie mama that disconnected your WiFi!
Jodie, yes you could get in trouble if the wrong relative gets that! :lmao:
Janet, I want to see your Singing Holiday Pooch/Pit Bull!
Tricia, I hope Daniel feels better quick! Pneumonia is nothing to mess with if he doesn't get better fast! My DS10 spent lots of time with a pediatric pulmonologist before he turned 2 and then with a pediatric asthma/allergy specialist after that. It's so scary when they start labored breathing, and you really need to watch for that type of thing. I hope you have a nebulizer or an emergency inhaler for a situation like that! Hugs for Daniel and for Joshua for being such a sweet child and for you for having to see your baby sick! :grouphug:
Hey Barb! I'm glad that you wash Bubba's soccer clothes! I know if I didn't wash my kids football clothes, they could probably stand up on their own!:scared1:
Marcie, I hope you're feeling better after your fall skiing!
Hey Tracie, Lori, MF, DM, KY, Rose, and everybody else!

Really quick again tonight. I really appreciate everyone's concern. I am doing much better. I guess Dr. Broomstick-for-a-Personality knew what he was doing with the pills he tossed my way.

Daniel, however, has not showed any signs of improvement yet. We are still on a Tylenol/Motrin rotation every 3 hours with some scary fever spikes here and there. I am hoping that tomorrow will be the magic day where we see him start making some progress.

fyi, i had my ebay auction pulled again:mad: for leftover SW credit. Must find the right category to slip it thru:rolleyes1 , will try travel-other this go-around.

What reason did they give you for pulling it?
