Evening all...what a crappy Wednesday!

First....I got up late and was rushing around the bathroom. Damn near slipped but to break my fall, I grabbed the toothbrush holder and pulled the damn thing off the wall. :rolleyes1

Then....driving into work, my window in the car got stuck and wouldn't go up and then something popped in the door....maybe a belt? :confused3

From there...the day got a little better but now I'm afraid the repair for the window is going to cost several hundred dollars....it's never cheap.

Anyway....the weather was nice so I can't complain about that.

Going to eat dinner....might be back later.

Sharon - I actually work on 3 different computers. One is mostly "mine" and I really haven't worried about anyone going on the internet on that computer because they all have their own computers which are newer and faster so I can't imagine they'd take the time it takes on mine to get the internet to pull up, and if they did, there'd be a major reason for it so they probably wouldn't be taking the time to look at my browsing history.

The other computer I can pull up internet on, people do use, so I try not to use the internet there for other than work reasons. The few times I've used it for personal stuff, I've deleted the browsing history, but I think that would make them more suspicious than a site (disboards.com) that they wouldn't recognize or care about!

Guess I should delete mine every now and then, but I would just be more worried if they were tracking the actual time I'm on, not just the fact that I go to the sites. I think they know there are times I'm really not doing anything or can be doing two things at once. So that's why I tend to check and/or read, then click out each time so it doesn't look like I'm on the site all day.

And I'm home finally - yay! DS12 is going to go to the "Nifty Knitters" meeting at the library for the first time tonight. Don't know if it will be 3 little old ladies who know what they're doing or a bunch of clueless kids! Either way it will get him out of Religious Ed for the night so he's willing to try!

you had me until you mentioned the nice weather.
i was full of sympathy and was going to give you some encouragement.
when you mentioned sunshine, you blew it .........:sad2:

ok, now i will be the nice homie to you todd.

i had you scared there for a minute, eh..... :rolleyes1

you can replace the toothbrush holder so it was better that went instead of you. it hurts to go boom.........

i had that happen to my car with the window 2 years ago.
something snapped in the door and the electric window didn't move up or down. it happened during a thunderstorm. i went thru kfc drive thru, opened the window to get my food and then it went up 2 inches and it died.

i think you are close to the amount it will cost to fix it.

but, as long as it doesn't rain and as long as people don't rob you blind when you park your car at work in the lot, you might be able to get by with not having it fixed soon.........

btw, what's for dinnner?

Todd - Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed, does it? If you were a girlfriend, I would tell you to snuggle into your comfy pjs with a quart of ice cream and your favorite chick flick and forget everything for a couple of hours. Since you are a guy, I dunno. Ummm... bubble bath? :confused3

Raven - Feel free to send that story in to Readers Digest. You can give me a cut of the royalties.

I had to replace the window motor in my car a couple of years ago. $300.

Oh Todd,
I'm sorry you had such a sucky day. Here's a hug for you.
Did you ever get the window up? If your at all handy, the inside door panel of most cars comes off pretty easily and you could look and maybe see whats wrong. My son's car had a nut fall off the screw that held the window in the track. His wouldn't go up either. The nut was sitting at the bottom of the door. He screwed it back on and was good to go. It would be nice if it was something that easy.

What's for desert?

I worry about them tracking the time too. I work for a small company thou, and I don't think they would spend the money for the program that does that.

We have something like the "Nifty Knitters" at a coffee house in the town where I live. I'ts a great mix of all ages and skill levels. I'm amazed at all the kids who think it's cool to knit.
I just learned how to knit last Christmas when my mom was going thru her breast cancer stuff. Her sister from Florida who is a retired nurse came to stay with my mom for a few weeks. She is an awesome knitter. We had a lot of time on our hands as mom's surgery was rescheduled twice. My aunt ended up staying 3 weeks. So she taught me, my daughter, my mom and my sister how to knit. It was an awesome experience spending so much time together. We got together almost every night for a few hours. Had a bit of wine and some cheese and great conversation. I wish she and her husband lived closer. :sad2
I've since knitted 2 scarves, 2 felted handbags, and know I am working on a cabled sweater for myself. I'm in over my head on this one. I emailed the directions to my Aunt so she can help me when I get stuck!

Hey Marcie! I'm sorry I missed you earlier. I was out on the CB too. And, when I picture "Nifty Knitters" at a library... I definitely picture a bunch of blue haired old ladies. Probably wrong of me to stereotype like that, but that's the picture I get in my head.

After I picked up Joshua from school, the boys and I spent about an hour with Carol today. She tires quickly these days, so I don't let the boys stay there for longer than that. She played a game of Monopoly with Joshua. Daniel ran around like crazy. It was a good afternoon.

I'm sitting here eating milk chocolate frosting straight from the tub. I'm feeling that blah-onset-of-depression thing, so I'm trying the quickest cure-all I know. Sugar.

Sharon - One time my window got stuck open, but it was because I had that window shade film on it and it got wedged when I rolled the wrong window down.

I didn't know why the window was stuck, so I took it to our local repair guy. He pushed on the window with his hand, yanked the film out, then rolled up the window. He looked at me and said, "That'll be a million dollars."

I like it when car repairs turn out to be freebies!

Well, I'll let you guys know how the Knitters turn out! Sharon - I think it would be more fun for DS if he knew anyone who knew how to knit or had actually had someone (Grandma or whatever) sit and teach him. He did the modern "look up the instructions online" technique, but somehow that loses the personal/nostalgic touch.

I also work for a small company (4 people) so I figure the same thing. If they really want to know what I'm doing, they'll come stand and look over my shoulder! Not like being at IBM or something where it would seem more likely they'd spend the money on things like that.

Todd - sorry to hear about the car. I worried about the same thing today - I opened the window to put a letter in the mailbox on my way out and it wouldn't close. It finally did, and I'm guessing it was because of the weather - it's a balmy 10 here right now! I'm going to guess that yours isn't for the same reason!

Yeah...bubble bath isn't quite my thing unless you consider eating Mexican food and farting in the tub...I had to replace a window motor in my old car...about $455.00! :sad2:

LOL...it's NEVER that easy with me. That's the luck of being a Leo I guess. BTW...dessert is...chocolate fudge cake from the store. ;)

I had Hot Pockets (ham & cheese)..yum! I fixed the toothbrush holder and all is well in the bathroom world...at least until the Hot Pockets want to make their presence known. :rolleyes1

I'm glad you all got to spend some time together today. Carol must be feeling a bit better if she was up for a game. :cool1:

Sounds like you need the comfy pjs and ice cream too.

Hmmmm, I've never had a freebie....there's always strings attached. :rotfl:

Sounds (or smells :rotfl2: ) like you need to lay off the mexican food and Hot Pockets!

Where is Barb? She hasn't checked in all day today. She better come back with a note...
